    I love that your piece was based on asking your loved ones where they would rank for goodness out of 100 people. Now you're asking the same of your work among your peers. Very fitting and a great story

    No sugarcoating the winning art piece is absolutely nothing compared to what you did there, but overall the best thing about art competitions is they push & challenge you, and you made the absolute best out of that!!!!🔥

      Not to mention how close it was to the winning piece and how much more foot traffic it got.
      I found the winning piece rather simple.

    Got to see your work this year while on a field trip (hs class that allows me to work as a student teacher in another classroom, went with my kids) and was blown away at 1-100. Whenever anyone asked me if i saw anything good, i immediately showed them pictures of your painting and explained the concept. Absolutely beautiful

    It’s so interesting to me that 1-100 ended up landing you on a list of 100 artists that you will never get to see. It almost feels like it round out the message of it in a way that couldn’t have been foreseen.

    If its voting based then it's a popularity contest, and you should build followers of people who would vote for you and making acquaintance and connection with influential people in the field. Can't win on skill alone although your painting is very beautiful and you've advanced much in just a year. Best of luck with your art journey.

    Your painting is the winner. It is more skilled, the theme, and the level of difficulty are all superior to the one that won. I really hate how people pick winners. It is almost never the one that should have won. This is not to discredit the person who won, but when they pick a sunset painting over one that is better in every way, you discredit the artist who was better and make art that has meaning feel worthless.

    • @oki__
      @oki__ 4 месяца назад +47

      The painting was beautiful, had a strong presence and good theming which was all fantastic, especially for a 20 yo. But looking at the bigger picture of the event & this painting there are certainly a few key composition flaws that he even pointed out himself at the end of painting it. The flow, anatomy & dimensions could’ve been improved and even the artist has pointed this out.
      Let’s not this throw comments around to value vs devalue peoples work based off of our skewed understanding or favouritism.

    • @hiiihiii2175
      @hiiihiii2175 4 месяца назад +6

      @tagtraumhoch2 Exactly. That is why a painting with meaning and that meaning is executed well, should have a higher value when it comes to placing in a competition. This painting was a very well thought out, unique, and perfectly executed painting. I have never seen anything like it and it even made people cry. It is a shame that it didn't win.

    • @jollibetloglog2040
      @jollibetloglog2040 3 месяца назад +7

      @@oki__ But several critiques (perhaps even more "severe" for lack of a better word) can be applied to the winning piece as well. There is nothing wrong with pointing that out.
      But who are we kidding. In a public vote-based competition, the winner isn't necessarily the one who is most skilled, but usually the one who is most popular or influential. It's essentially a popularity contest.

    • @phoenix9531
      @phoenix9531 3 месяца назад +1

      I think you're getting too caught up on what you personally wanted to see win. Especially because nobody says that artists that didn't win necessarily feel "like their art is worthless". That's your perception of what the price is worth or isn't.

    First off, you can still be improving into your sixties. Skill comes from work and talent, but depth comes from lived experience. Secondly, you're the real deal. No gimmicks or stylistic crutches, just a beautiful sense of composition, form and light instantiated in each choice you make. I love it.

    I don't understand how the jury made their decision. The winning painting's quality and use of materials seem very basic, with low-quality execution. The layout is quite standard and falls into the category of kitsch, reflecting poor use of materials. Your painting, on the other hand, feels fresh and innovative. In my opinion, your composition, layout, and overall approach are far superior to that of the winner. Keep on going.a warm greeting

    maybe it looks better in real life but the winning painting, to me, is not that appealing. the crashing waves are the best part of it. the lighthouse and other building look flat. the clouds look funky and not as realistic as the waves do.

Everyone was mad that it won but I wasn't expecting it to be this bad. If that was the winning one, you deserved the #1. You deserved at least top 10, not only a name recognision.

    • @Dismythed
      @Dismythed 2 месяца назад

      @@tailsjekel_art I drew a Teddy bear and telephone this week that I realized was extremely technical. I drew the image using hatching. The phone was straight and round lines with the buttons in the right place. The Teddy bear required reproductions of the acrylic weave pattern, one in a rib knitting pattern and the other in the loop knitting pattern. Pens, a cup, a kid’s school desk, all technical.
      When I paint a picture, I choose the right size of canvas, technically mix the paint on the palette to the correct colors I need. I apply the paint with the specific brush that my technical knowledge says is the correct brush to produce the effect I desire. I apply the correct amount of paint to the brush and apply it in just the right way to get the stroke I wish to achieve with it. After I do this a few thousand times for hours a day for many weeks, my canvas is completed to my trained eye that this is a technically fine piece of art.
      The only thing not technical about the whole process is whether it results in something aesthetically appealing or not. That ineffable quality can arise anywhere. What sets a professional apart from the random aesthetic is that the professional acquires the technical skill required to increase their chances of producing that aesthetic on purpose. There is no difference between toaster design and 2D plein air painting where a technically acquired aesthetic is your end goal.
      I simply wish to make the point that technical is not “b___ s___“.
      You are very young and have yet to learn that other people, living and worthy of respect, occupy the art space with you.
