I have done quite a few cruises to the same places and am now unable to travel at all. My cruising days are over so it gives me great pleasure to revisit those places with you. Such a pleasure and thank you for your wonderful vlogs. I am a Canadian from Montreal so keep on cruising fellow Canucks. Love your vlogs!.
Thanks for sharing! We appreciate your wonderful encouragement.❤️
Almost only counts in horseshoes. The Greek Salad looks good. Maybe if the short ribs don't work then Salmon. Prosecco goes with anything. Chocolate Hazelnut looks good. My wife loved hazelnut.
Wonderful day in a very busy Rome!
I like the culinary stops you guys are making more often now. It has always been an important part of my travel, and the cultural experience.
Thanks, we agree that it gives an added culture experience.🍽️
Oh my goodness, your video of St. Peter’s, with music, brought tears to my eyes. Absolutely breathtaking! It brought back memories as a 19 year old, having just completed a world history class, that I became weak kneed when the guide announced that Charlemagne had knelt in the spot I was standing. I now feel the need to return!
You two are so much fun to watch! Lois
Glad you enjoyed it!
hi jill and jerry .wow it brings back memories in sept i was in rome ,did the train saw Spanish steps , coliseum , pantheon and trevi fountain which was extremely crowded . we had 40 c temp which was too hot . love ya x
It was the same temp last August 2022 hence why we thought going in November would be cooler.
Almost Saw the Pope on Embarkation Day? I saw the Pope in Ottawa, no big deal. Stay safe and take care of each other please.
First and foremost, we wish you a very happy and healthy 2024 and thank you for sharing your cruise adventures with us. I enjoy it every time and learn from it myself. I think the reason it was so busy in Rome is because you were there on November 1st. This day commemorates the dead and is called All Saints' Day. In the Roman Catholic Church it is a solemn festival. All Saints' Day is a national holiday in many countries, including Andorra, Belgium, France, Hungary, Italy, Croatia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Monaco, Austria, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and parts of Germany and Switzerland . I'm looking forward to the rest of these holiday vlogs. Greetings from Belgium.
Thanks for the information. We kept thinking there must of been a reason for the amount of people everywhere.
I think the reason that it was so busy in Rome when you were there was that it was All Saint's Day, which is a big catholic holiday and why so many people were there just for that day.
You are correct. We only found out about this when a few other viewers made comments after watching the vlog. Now we have a new thing to look up when making plans. We never thought to check what the local holidays may be.🛳
Really enjoyed watching your adventures in Rome, the Vatican is truly magnificent.
It really is! Glad you enjoyed it.
Looks like it was a lovely cruise. All the best to both of you. I hope to see more adventures throughout this year.
More to come!🛳
We sailed Civitavecchia the day after you on BREAKAWAY. We were staying in Rome that day too but did the Forum instead
And we were at Trevi right around the same time as you. Wild.
Too bad you didn’t spot us. It would of been nice to say hello.
We loved it when we went
Fantastic countdown!
Thanks!
Happy New Year guys. Love your channel ❤
Happy new year!!Thanks for watching ❤️
Great vlog, we were in Rome the same day...parked beside you all on the Celebrity Apex, unlike yourselves we got caught in the rain, but had a great time anyways!
Thanks.Very cool that you were on the Apex.
Happy new year! I paid off our cruise to Northern Europe yesterday on MSC Euribia! I got a scare when I called them. They could only find a booking for last October! I had postponed that cruise to April and the customer service lady finally found the April booking! Ahhhh
Oh wow. That would of been scary.
@@CruisingCanucks what ports are you going to?
Santorini, Greece , Athens (piraeus), Greece, Kusadasi, Turkey (for Ephesus), Mykonos, Greece, Katakolon (olympia), Greece, Corsica (ajaccio), France and Toulon/Provence (la Seyne), France.
Jill, when you have time to reflect on your trip. Would you please make a fashion video on what to wear and avoid.
Sure.
Great vlog , had to watch it again , I think I am on 3 times now 😂😂 looking forward till the vlog2 now
Glad you enjoyed it.🔠
@@CruisingCanucks you guys will keep me sane until June 🚢🚢🚢
We walked from the train station to the cruise port with our luggage in Civitavecchia it was quite the hike!
Ive been to the port twice, i’d imagine it can be a rather tough port. Normally I excursions at this port.
Yes, it is a distance to get anyway if walking from it. Thankfully there is a shuttle that you can use.🛳
Wow, that would of been a challenge for sure.🧳
Jill where did you get that bag you’re carrying I love it
My son proposed to his wife on the Spanish Steps in December of 2004.
Wonderful spot for a proposal!
Omg too many people for November. Revenge travel is real.🤦♀️
It was an crazy busy day in Rome for November. We did hear that it was some type of Italian holiday.
We will be disembarking at Civitavecchia and then spending 2 days in Rome prior to flying home (to Canada ... more canncks here ;o). Would you recommend we train into Rome, or get some sort of cab/transfer? Training seems very inexpensive but wondering if it's stressful with luggage.
Same question: How do you get from port to train station in Civitavecchia? We'd like to go all the way to Florence to spend a few extra days before flying home. Any idea if we have to take the train to Rome and then on to Florence, or could we get a direct train from the port train station? Did you book the train ahead of time?
Great question! We decided to use this question as our question of the week on our live showing today at 2pm.
The train is definitely the most affordable way to get from Civitavecchia to Rome. That be said you will have to carry our luggage and and up stairs in order to get to the train platform. There isn’t a reserved space on the train for luggage so it can be a challenge if the train is full.
The taxis were charging a flat rate of 160 Euros when we looked into it August 2022.
We didn’t prebook our train ticket. Check directly with the train company on the best way to get to Florence.
Thanks for the reply. I'll try to make the live today but if not will watch it afterwards. If we were going carry on only I think we'd train it but might go for convenience with full size luggage. Are there usually plenty of taxis at the port or do we need to prebook one? @@CruisingCanucks
We haven’t gone the taxi route so we aren’t sure. When we were there they had us walk away from the taxi pick up area to get to the shuttle bus that brings you to the train station.
