Great advice when it come to purchasing tools. In general, not even for businesses, the rule of thumb is: Buy cheap, buy twice. When having a business to run, a breaking tool is not just a cost to replace it, but also lost revenue in terms of a production process that comes to a stop. So think twice when you need to purchase a tool and think about how vital it is to your continuity and revenue stream.
Design workflows are the thing that I most want to see and very few people do. Seems hard to do well. Functional Print Friday is probably the best, but he's not designing things to sell.
The few others that do it make it "look" way to easy, which is disheartening when it seems so difficult to get started.
Most interesting topics would be how your business is structured and design processes - thanks for what you do.
Hmmm, how do you print the soda caddy without supports? Seems like no matter how you orient it, it would need some.
Great video as always Chris! I'm already looking forward to the next one :)
An interesting video my philosophy with design is very similar, I try to make all of my designs have 0 supports but when I do need supports they're very minor ones that come off in seconds, for my day job some of the orders require multiple steps of processing etc which can take away from the profits hugely (not thst it comes out of my pocket)
Hey Love following your journey, in a relatively similar position with a 3D printing business of my own starting on etsy. I have started a shopifi but have yet to drive any sales from it. I will admit i haven’t done much in advertising for it yet. Was just wondering if the sales you have had though that were from YT or repeat customers from Etsy, then what is your plan to drive more sales to your shopifi, Do you have a marketing plan.
Very great video !!! Hyped for the next one 😎 how did you get so much sales on your Shopify ? Did you make some meta ads ?
Same question on advertising avenues...
My Rollo printer prints two labels every time I try to print one. Drives me crazy.
I'm interested in how you go about your taxes as a business owner.
Letz go:)
Avoid the Rollo printer. It's literally nothing more than a private labelled generic that you can get for $60. They are also a very sketchy company that goes after their competition. A few years ago they got a design patent on the Rollo, even though they didn't manufactureor design it. Basically the design patent was on the Rollo badge on the generic printer. They used that to VERO ebay sellers of the generic equivalent and get competition kicked off of Amazon. They even went after ebay sellers trying to sell their own used Rollos. Just terrible, terrible people. Also note that 95% of the youtube reviews are by people who got their Rollo printers for free to review.
