    Other than the reason of bad malfunctioning cars, the whole WRC served him a very good time for mastering all-around skills in racing and quick reaction time and judgement. He can pretty much dominate all racing type by now (sans motorcycle maybe)

    The car sort of looks a bit like a Peugeot 208. Technically, it has nothing to do with a production car. It is a mid-engined 3.2 litre double turbo rocket made exclusively to go uphill very fast. Seb Loeb is a nine time WRC world rally champion.
    Nothing was left to chance here. Mission accomplished.

    He made that look so smooth and drama-free. Almost as if he was going at 60% and could take another 30s off the time if he 'really tried'. Amazing.Does make me chuckle how they call this car a Peugeot 208. I'll wager not a single component comes from the road-going version - not even the badge.

      CaptainBlackadder75 real quick drivers give that impression, like they're not forcing the shit out of it. But in reality they're simply pushing the car to its limits while still having everything under control. This guy is possibly the greatest rally driver to have ever graced this planet, and it shows in this drive. Simply perfect and effortless.

      It does look/sound like he slowed a bit at blind bends and then picked it up it when he saw the track past the bend/hill. To go full out would be like memorizing the old Nurburgring.

      Since Ari Vatanen won twice on a Peugeot 405 T16,American pilots started to cry it was too dangerous for their POS cars with big V8 motors,to win PP,you need a small turbo engine(4 or 6 cyl max)Americans do not know this tech,it's V8 or nothing,but for PP,you need to be light and fly on that track(dance),then came Seb Loeb,Peugeot 6 cyl turbo(over 800hp),Guy Martin(bike)on asphalt,sand or not Euro pilots are more talented......!!!

    • @kg0173
      @kg0173 6 лет назад +2

      You don't know what you are talking about. Ari won just once in 1988. In 1989 american Robby Unser won in Peugoet 405 T16, he did beat Ari Vatanen. Before Peugeot, Audi won several Pikes Peak races with Walther Rohl, Michele Mouton and american Bobby Unser. So much for Euro pilots being more talented... And Europe banned B group rally cars.... so they had to come to US. And the same for Dakar rally, they would never allow american Trophy Trucks to compete there although they are much more superior than the dumbed down Peugeots.

    • @elvissobers
      @elvissobers 6 лет назад

      This style of driving and the cars optimization makes for fast times..I call it spurting..The idea is to accelerate to the maximum between corners.. Slow for corners still under full control then accelerate like hell again and again..Not only is this safer..Not trying to do a constant high speed,..But faster always using maximum and constant acceleration,,it's the same with motocross motorcycles.

      No, the Sierra Club sued the City of Colorado Springs in the late 90's claiming erosion damage to streams, reservoirs, vegetation and wetlands downstream from the 1.5 million tons of road gravel deposited over several decades. Obviously the SC won the suit and the city was required to do the paving, which started in 2002 and was completed in 2012 (IIRC).

    160 kph is 100 mph for all you Americans like myself. his ears must of been popping like crazy. This man is good. AND that is one hell of a good handling car! INSANE VIDEO The down force required to make turns at that speed is ridiculous. Straight parts where at about 150 MPH! That is over twice the speed limit on a straight interstate in the U.S. He is going uphill the entire time with tight turns very frequently!

      This car will never be on the road. It's not geared to have a fast top speed. It cost around a million dollars sooo. Yeah. I'll take a sport bike

    • @ROTAXD
      @ROTAXD 8 лет назад

      +SAViNGLiVE5 his post said THAT car on THAT road. Meaning that a bike would've been whipped on the course. Ps...a factory race moto GP bike has around a $2 million price tag.

      i know how much a motogp bike averages. So basically hes comparing bigger and more contact patches to contact patches the size of a deck of cards and smaller. and bigger and stronger brakes. A car in comparable nature to a bike will always win. I'd still take the bike.

    If it's all paved road now why don't they just run a formula 1 car? It would destroy all records. This race was so much better when it was 90% dirt.

    • @ifabforfun
      @ifabforfun 7 лет назад +69

      forgive the people of Pikes Peak for wanting to drive on a paved road I guess

    • @Michael_00001
      @Michael_00001 7 лет назад +22

      The people of Pikes Peak? Nobody lives on Pikes Peak. There's a scenic road up to a radio tower. Should have left it all dirt.

    • @ifabforfun
      @ifabforfun 7 лет назад +46

      "scenic road" implying people use the road for purposes other than racing. people who service that tower for example. not saying it wasn't cool as dirt but it's a public road, not a race track

    • @Michael_00001
      @Michael_00001 7 лет назад +19

      So what's wrong with dirt again? People can't use it because it's dirt? Makes perfect sense. Come to think of it... they should pave my favorite camping spots too because it's public and not a race track. Seems legit.

    • @ifabforfun
      @ifabforfun 7 лет назад +25

      Michael Kirst If dirt is just as good then why would we have ever started using paved roads? Anyway, I'm pretty sure no one racing at Pikes Peak gives a shit about your opinion or mine.

    Dove that rode in 2014 a few days after they had the race in the summer. Freaking scary road and heights usually don't bother me. But I guess when you can use both sides of the road going up it's better...but not at that speed...lol.
    When it's two way traffic it sucks when you are on the outside lane with a 100 foot dropoff right next to you and no guard rail. Can't imagine what it was like before they built the road in the 90's I believe. Before that it was a dirt road that was about 1 1/2 lanes wide.
    Nonetheless, no matter how you do it, it's a wonderful ride and the top is fantastic. Just make sure your brakes are good. Three weeks later my brakes went out on my car up in the grand tetons....lol!
