AWD and being heavy might have helped in the wet conditions (downforce bleeds off at high altitudes, but mass is a constant, so he always had a certain level of traction), but it still took a seriously committed driver.

the gearbox is pretty much as good as it gets, so turbo lag is non existant, plus awd and a car that is save to push and won't snap on you + these 992 turbo S always seem to have insane drivers behind the wheel.
I guess the other cars have anti lag of some sort, so that can't be it.

16:08 Loved the in-car moment of David Donohue killing the TSC when he got to the drier part (I am assuming that is the function of the dial to his right? It is adjusted significantly more to the clockwise direction later in the run when it gets wet...)
    Also standouts:
-- The stock 992 Turbo S gave me chills...serious skills there. Hard to believe a stock model (minus exhaust?) beat a GT3R with 1000hp *and* a GT2 RS Clubsport!
-- Equally, if not more impressive...Dai Yoshihara was on the *limit* in that Model 3
-- The sound of Ford V8 is always a nice addition to the mix!

I completely get the paving of the road. That gravel was an environmental nightmare. But the elimination of the motorcycle divisions, the severe limiting of fans that can actually get a ticket to the event…and also limiting the viewing locations ( go check out Sebastian Loeb’s run of 2013 to see what I mean), and the ridiculous single person ticket price. It all truly breaks my heart.

I would love to run my built for this kinda racing Pontiac Tempest however I’ve had the car since 1995 & it’s still evolving as it is an important member of our family. In these conditions I’d rather not risk loosing it or worse, however I’m confident it would run in the low 11sec range here if I knew every turn by heart. Thanks for the great Video, this was fun to learn from!! Awesome Vehicles, every one!! 😃!

Downhill was prohibited due to deathly accidents & shouldn't come back. In the early days hillclimb was up & down in one go!

@@jurinout8665 True, downhill racing requires more skill from the racer, the car doesn't need too much horsepower, it just needs perfect balance

a car that should had been on the list of all time beasts is Per Eklunds Saab 9-3 just because of how insane the build was for its time and the time it set, and you really need to see the doc of it to really understand how crazy it actually was.

Listening to that Tesla was pure depression. It's gonna be a shame when motorsports gets boring cause everyone switches to electric due to a lack of renewable fossil fuels.
