Thanks for taking the time too make this video, very handy! I’m just at the point where I’m Ready too mount my servos too my wings. The kit I’m building is a Balsa USA Enforcer. This particular kit is from the seventies and was originally designed too one very long flex tubes and cable (golden rods) too operate the ailerons and elevator. I like you, will be mounting my servos closer too the ailerons in the wing, instead of way up front in the fuselage. Thanks for the info!
Thanks for the comment. The Enforcer looks like a fun and different plane to fly. I have never done a pusher. If your kit is like my kit, being an older plan with updated instructions, I’m finding little oddities in the instructions. Overall good build experience with Balsa USA. Thanks again and good luck with your building and flying!
Hi James. When you glue your servo mounting blocks to the ply plate, it's advisable to sand the ply surface to remove any release agent which is used during its manufacture. This stops it sticking in the presses but can cause adhesion problems later. You may have done so but not shown it. BTW, I was the guy who complained about the music after episode 7... it's been much better since then and that damn whistling track hasn't been missed one bit! Thank you. Cheers, Phil
Hi Phil, I did not know that about the plywood, but it turns out that I ended up sanding all sides of those blocks to get them the right side. I actually wish I just went to the hobby shop and picked up some hardwood stock because making those blocks was a pain. I took your comment seriously about the music, I get tired of it also. So Im trying to reduce it and find some additional tracks to drop in during the fast frame sections and such. I appreciated your comment. Obviously this isn’t my day job, so constructive criticism is appreciated. We’ll see how the little channel goes. Thanks
Hello James I ordered the Fubata S3004 server. It does nto resemble the one you are using in your video. It has a 4 pronged wheel attached. Please advise, I'm stuck. Doug
Hi Douglas. So the 4 prong servo and other parts you probably got with the servo are normal. I usually cut off the arms I don’t need just make things cleaner in the fuselage. Its up to you, if you have room you can leave them all on or if you want you can cut them off leaving a single arm. You can probably do a little searching online and see that others may cut them also.
Hi Douglas, if you are interested you can check out my Barn Stormer Build series number 25 “control linkages”. I installed the servos and cut the arms as needed. You can find the series in my playlists. And number 24 I also discuss the servos and radio setup. Hope they help. Good luck
Uhm there is this thing called Mass. It makes things heavy. Using super thick plywood to do this is just adding a bunch of needless weight. Nice job, but lighten up. 1/8 ply is plenty for a servo tray. You also didn't leave anything for the surrounding covering to stick to. Just buy a wing servo with the screw/tie downs mounted 90 deg. to normal. I have been flying RC for 50 years. I have NEVER had a servo fail. I just build them into the plane now, and take a picture, if I need to make a change later. Because IF a servo does fail, it is going to be easy to extract it from the bag of balsa remains when it crashes.... I used to build so that I could remove a servo. It is a waste of time, and just adds dead weight. I literally glue the servo's in now.
One other thing. If you are going to try and save money building an airplane, do not do it buying cheap ass servo's. Everyone thinks metal gear servo's are better. They are, but they also wear out (the gears that is). Go with a name brand like Hitec, or K-power. I just put four K-power with Karbonite gears (will not wear out) wing servo's in a Goldberg cub wing. Yes, I know Cub's didn't have flaps, mine does. A full set of LED lights as well.
Thanks for insight and suggestions Yes, I agree that Im adding weight. Thats will be a trade off for flaperons. I did put a balsa border around the servo opening which will hopefully be good enough to adhere the Monokote too. Thanks again for your comments, much appreciated.

James,
Thanks for the advice. I will cut down to one arm.
All the best

What size smoothie are you building ?
Hi, its the 40 class not their XL

Sorry Futaba mispelled, Doug
Its all good. 😀.. check my response to your servo arm question. I hope that helps.
