As an Indian I want to say thank you for what you do. It's a real shame that India is a safe heaven for these scammers. Unfortunately scam call centers for Indian victims and American victims are very different. Even in India millions of people get scammed everyday by these low lives. My father and uncle both got scammed unfortunately and there was nothing much we could do. My uncle lost his full life savings. Many people in India also resort to committing suicide after they get scammed since they have no money and no help.

I'm so glad you did this. And continue. My mother who's 80 lost all her money in her account and lives on a pension and nothing was done about it.
Same exact this happened to my elderly mother in law and she was in the beginning stages of dementia the scammers thought her to be sneaky she lost all her money and her husband set her up to be very comfortable before he passed and the Fitbit all plus her house it was so sad . She was so lonely
I am from North East India, I was also cheated by scammer last year, all my money was gone, I have lots of depression and cannot live in a normal life by that day. It's really funny how they scam the scammers, and it's so odd that about 95% or so of them, as they say, come from India. A damn shame.

As an Indian I'm shameful for being their home I also accidentally joined them they told me that told me that it's just a call centre job but when I was working i realised that it was a scam centre and I complained police and explained it and they caught scammers . Thanks buddy you are doing a great work ❤

Actually he currently works at the world's very first "Anti-Scammer" Call Center with fellow Scambaiters: Scammer Payback, Trilogy Media, and others.
"Anyone can be scammed" is a good reminder to us all.
And it's why I watch these kinds of videos.

@@dune4396 So you say. Former cyber security phd working for our company fell for one. Super brilliant person in many respects; can only imagine it was the right time and circumstances where they had too much on their plate and did not see the signs.
Edit: So you know, it was a gift card for the ceo scam. Circumstances were either extremely coincidental or targeted where the request just made sense for the employee to follow through without checking whether it was a legitimate request.
2nd Edit: Have seen some very sophisticated attempts over the years. One was a request for technical docs from a company claiming it was a sub contractor for a subcontractor of another company we had done business with. They had facebook, linked-in, and a very well done website. Upon first glance it looked legit enough that the FSO initially just wanted me to check it out to make sure. Going down the rabbit hole, it became obvious that their company was a shill and the employees they claimed to have did not exist. It's easy to get got if you aren't actively looking.
You should, wisdom is a key to survival and evolution.
If you have common sense.. easy to avoid. For common sense in the tech age; hard for some, especially the illiterate, who don't pay much attention.

Jim Browning was an office hero when I worked in consumer IT support. We all used to watch him on our lunch breaks. And crowd around my boss' PC whenever a new video came out. We spent a lot of time supporting victims of scams, helping them contact their banks, giving them tips to help avoid getting scammed in the future, etc

I work in banking and the amount of people that get scammed who can’t be told otherwise is just maddening. Just a heads up wires to Thailand and Philippines can very often be associated with human trafficking

My grandmother recently lost her husband and she started getting a ton of scam calls. She has a good head on her shoulders so they didn't fool her but it's so evil to target people in such a vulnerable state.

Rule # 1...Do not pick up any phone number you are not familiar with. Rule # 2: If you pick up the phone already tell them you will call the company itself...If you need to reach Amazon, Find Amazon Customer Service from Amazon. Whoever you need to reach, go directly to their website and find their CS number.

This happened to me my daughter my daughter borrowed money from me to help try to fix her situation her income situation and she got taken for $708 and put her in a bind she couldn't even pay her rent this happened to me for years ago scammer had control of my cell phone of my laptop had me thinking about Microsoft and then they told me that my identity was all over the place and all I need to do was go get a gift card and put the $200 on not to get had by those type of people I learned my lesson quick and I try to tell my family don't fall for that because those type of people are only just getting your money your hard money that you work for I'm so glad you're doing it

Nice seeing Jim being recognized on a major outlet such as Vice. About time. This man knows his stuff - he is professional, and is always calm, cool and collected. Lest we forget his undeniable work ethic. I hope coverage like this puts him in with the right people to tackle some bigger fish.

There does, but even the most tech savvy people can get caught out if they are not paying attention. Jim has been scammed himself, he nearly lost his you tube account because of it. He caught on almost at the last possible moment.

India has a lot of potential!....but the system doesn't support them to go right way!.....it's just small mistakes which are neglected by the public i,e elections, bribes....etc..This is what makes the Indian system full of flaws & safe heaven for these scams! Tbh even political leaders of India are also responsible for these scam.....some even support these!.....As internet is now cheap in India, everyone (even the people who r not well educated) are a part of this web network......hence they are easy to be scammed!.......This is just a humongous chain of small mistakes which people take for granted and have a huge impact overall.,......

There should be banks/government/companies that hire people like this dude and just fight back against those scammers. This is such a failure of the security of citizens that this can happen on a daily basis…

Some people have been scammed to suicide because of it. Quite unfortunate those individuals never face any sort of punishment in their home counties. Thankfully there are people like Jim, great video vice.

The issue here is these illegal call centers pay lots of bribes to the local police and gov't officials. Also when they go to court they will pay huge sums to the judges, make sure to follow up on all the cases !! And publicize as much as you can include the higher up officials so they are held accountable !!

Her bank might be able to give her money back by doing a reverse charge. Please don't quote me on it, but see if Gmama can get her money back that way.
They are trying to help her, it was most likely a gas skimmer. 2 men were just charged in our city for gas skimmers and fraudulent charges on hundreds of people. Even my 16 year old just got hacked on his card. I told him to never use pay at the pump anymore bc of that. Same with her. Damn shame.

I always find it super impressive when you have all the bad power (hacking) but than take it and turn it into something good (hacking scammers).

Him, Pierogi and Kit Boga really convinced me to get into Cybersecurity. I finally get a great career in my 30s and I actively want to be able to stop scammers as well.

@@marckassel8593 Just speaking for myself here as there are many many ways to get into Cybersecurity but I went back to College in Cybersecurity to get a diploma since most places wanted to see academic diplomas, which you dont really need but it gets you in. I was lucky enough to get in my Organization and I just work in Identity and Access Management for an organization and work mostly out of Azure Cloud services. Cloud, Automation, Access Controls, Implementation of security measures etc. Then from there, check what certifications you can take and maybe the organization can pay this for you, but there are endless free ressources out there so I would focus on Microsoft Azure/AWS cloud security as most organizations will work with thoses. And really you can focus on anything you want afterwards. CompTIA SEC+ is good overall big certification that covers most aspects of Cybersec. Its what im working on at the moment. I would say not to focus on a giant certification from the start, they are very time consuming and expensive. Get some good basics knowledge, get a college diploma, get an opening position, read and gain experience through sites like Tryhackme.. and other free ressources.

He ranted at him that if they closed down the centres he would have no content and no RUclips channel.

warriors like this guy, Scammer Payback, and all the other anti-scammers are so awesome and it's highly entertaining to watch videos of scammers getting screwed over and/or hacked. It's pretty sad that an entire country gets a bad rep because so many scam centers are based out of India but the government and law enforcement needs to actually step their game up and crack down on these organizations

We didnt have these problems until we start making alot of these call centers overseas.

The problem is that scammers create new ways to keep scamming and some people are just naturally gullible and impressionable.
