    I added a Givi SRA 1172 rack and a Givi TRK52 top box. At the time of buying my non-tour gold wing the tour version trunk didn’t hold two helmets. And in the UK the price difference was about incredible. I already had the top box so it was a no brainer! Thanks for the video Appreciate it.

    Great video, thank you for your time. They make them very economical, it's worth it. One of the reasons I got the Tour model was the rear case. I use it all the time and its a life saver. I can also do pretty much full food shopping with all 3 cases. I knew it will take a while to start getting some options for the Bagger. Enjoy this super machine.

      Thanks for watching! I actually ended up adding the OEM trunk shortly after that. I found tue SHAD nice but with a passenger I prefer a full trunk as well. It just makes things easier plus it matches the bike! If I had the cash I would have gone full tour from the get go. Great machine and loving every mile ridden!

    Great video. I bought a Shad 59 top box for my GW based on your video. I just need to remove the Honda passenger back rest which was fitted by the dealer which I’m not sure how to do. I went for the top box with the light but don’t know who to fit that either. 👍🏻

    I just got the Shad Top case based on your 1st video. One thing I experienced during my installation that I didn't see you cover was having to make the holes big enough for the spacers to slide through the hole and rest on the mounting frame. Is that what you did also?

    • @motorider4130
      @motorider4130  3 года назад +1

      That’s great! Glad I could be of some help to you! Yeah I did not cover that in my vid so my apologies. Honestly those two flimsy pieces of plastic that you have to drill through I did a piss poor job on and was pretty ashamed of my work.. eventually I just took those off instead. I should have used a step down drill bit to make the holes but did not think of that at the time..lesson learned. Hopefully you had better luck than I did! 👍🏻👍🏻

      @@motorider4130 lmao!!! I totally understand. One hole came out too big on mine because I was using the thicker spacer as a hole size tester. Eitherway, never be ashamed of a mistake. It's how we all learn! Thanks again! Look forward to more videos.

    • @motorider4130

      As far as I know the seat height is not adjustable. There may be a way to lower the bike itself that I’m not aware of but being 6’1” myself I have found stock seating ok. Looking into purchasing the Russell Day Long upgrade for this season. Best of luck!

    Hi does the Shad Plastic plate (the plate with a latch mechanism where the bag sits) come with the case? I know that I have to buy the bike-specific mounting plate, but should I also buy a plastic plate too? Some shad models already include this universal plate (not the bike specific below one)

    • @motorider4130
      @motorider4130  3 года назад +1

      Hey! So the mounting plate comes with the Shad box (whichever one you choose)…the mounting plate that is bike specific that physically attaches to your ride is separate. For example I had to purchase the one specific to the Goldwing. Then the latch mounting plate comes with the box you buy.

    Thanks for the video. Do you happen to know whether or not that Shad mounting plate uses the same hole placement as the Honda OEM luggage rack?

    • @motorider4130
      @motorider4130  4 года назад

      Thanks for watching! Honestly I’m not sure about that. I looked online to see if they were close..it’s very possible that they are. Is there a reason you would purchase the Honda OEM rack..other than it’s from Honda?

    • @jimwatson723
      @jimwatson723 4 года назад +1

      @@motorider4130 The luggage rack, and two backrests were accessories I worked into the deal when I bought the bike. I have a Nelson Rigg bag that does fit nicely behind the passenger backrest on the rack. But... my passenger does not like that backrest. I wouldn't either; it leans so far back that you cannot even tell it's there. So, I am beginning my quest for options, one being an affordable top-case with backrest. I did find www.revzilla.com/assets/0002/5985/shad_top_case_rack_honda_goldwing_f6_b.pdf, which hints at those mounting posts being in fixed locations under the top plastic. That's encouraging since anything built to mount on there would then appear to use the same hole location(s).

    • @motorider4130
      @motorider4130  4 года назад

      Yes I see what you mean. Then yes I would think the Honda luggage mount would use those same holes...but you would be paying 400 for their rack as opposed to Shads which is $77 and made of the same material I think..it’s pretty beefy and once it’s mounted it’s not going anywhere. The only challenge is drilling out the holes in those two plastic pieces..I would suggest using a step-down drillbit maybe so you can progressively get the holes the right size. I did not but managed to get it done..hindsight being 20/20 😂. Like I mentioned in the video as long as you have the Shad mounting plate it will accept any of their top boxes. I saw that Givi is finally coming out with a mount for the newer Wings as well - for only $260 😂😂

    Good Vid! I added the Givi v56 to my 2013 Honda F6b and I love it. It has some of the same fetures as yours. I had mine paint matched to my bike, any plans for that in the Future? Thanks.

    • @motorider4130
      @motorider4130  4 года назад

      Sweet! I couldn’t tell from Givi’s site if any of their top boxes would fit the rack that Honda sells (for $400!!), also they did not seem to have anything for the newer models - which was a bit disappointing. I’ve used Givi in the past and their stuff is great as well. I think Shad makes color panels that come close to the Honda color but it’s hard to tell from a website. Did Givi have a mounting system for the f6b? Curious to now how it works..👍🏻👍🏻

    • @christophersmith5116
      @christophersmith5116 4 года назад +1

      @@motorider4130 Givi has a universal mount that mounts to the rack. So yes you do have to have an existing rack already. BTW, i can get two HJC modular (4xl) in the givi setting right up.

      I just checked Givi’s site literally like right now..they are coming out with a rack for the newer non-tour models - but not for 1-2 months it seems for a $260 price tag..unreal. Shad’s mounting rack was only like $75-77? Btw how did you go about painting your top box? Did you have to take it apart or anything? I think I may just keep mine as is for now..I would like to add the brake light to my box but that’s another $140 😂😂 they really get you with these prices.

      @@motorider4130 I sent mine of to Chris Miller (479) 857-0013. He is a specialist in GoldWing paint matching. He does the costume paint jobs on GoldWings and Goldwing Trikes. I sent it to him and he disassembled it and reassembled it. Price was well worth it as it looks like the Top Case came with the bike. You probably can find someone local who can do just as good. But give hime a call and see what he can do. BTW, the Price was $350 but it was clear coated and all. You only live once, can't take that Money with you. I think yours would really pop if you match it up.
