      @baldeagle242 a friend has same rider and top belt came off bought a new one but after looking at the main longer drive belt it needed to be replaced used numbers off the hood for both belts but now when letting off fas the tractor won't stop moving belt size is 5/8 x 90.5 would the 5/8 91 give it enough slack to stop moving. Also the variable pulley is the top shorter belt supposed to be all the way to the inside and the bottom long belt sit on the outside of pulley everything looks good thanks for any info that could help

      @robertbryce6735 a half inch longer will make a difference. In this video I show how you can adjust the tension for the slightly longer belt. The way you described the belts on the pulleys is correct.

    Thanks for the video. I recently changed out the drive belt with a Huskee 5/8 x 90 and needed to loosen the tension slightly to keep the tractor from moving when the pedal is released. Your video was perfect, along with several other hints such as removing the battery box and releasing the spring tension. Great job.

    @ 7:00 --- the SILVER pully has a guard on the rear side it that is thin and has to be bent back to get either belt off. The big black pulley wheel has to be taken off with a 7/8 wrench and a screw driver down in the hole braced up against something so it does not turn. I spent $50 on extra tools just to do this part. I also purchased a 13/16 wrench - but did not need it. A 3/4 inch is too small. Make sure you buy a OEM Cub Cadet belt. The one I got that was Kevlar enforced off of Amazon did NOT work. I left the spring on there and just took the black pulley off - one less tool to buy ... you can push on it with your hand to move it back to release tension ... it's not a deal breaker. BUYING THE CORRECT BELTS is !!!!

    Hey, I was using my 2014 LTX 1046 yesterday and the drive belt let go. I put a new one in this morning and double checked everything. I do the normal starting procedure for the first start and when the key is turned to start, there is an electrical sounding whine and nothing happens. No other sounds or movement. I tried jumping it and now theres a click but still no start. Any ideas?

    Should the motor shaft be greased before installing a drive pulley

    I replaced the long drive belt that I purchased from Lowes that's supposed to be OEM.I've tried adjusting the linkage and when the engine is first started the machine doesn't move when I release the pedal in forward & reverse. After mowing with it for a little while the machine wants to continue moving forward & reverse.
    Seems like when the engine gets hot this happens.
    ANY information would be greatly appreciated.

    • @baldeagle242
      @baldeagle242  Месяц назад +1

      It’s a guess but it you’re certain you have the correct belt it sounds like your variable speed pulley maybe sticking and not moving up and down properly. Again, it’s tuff to diagnose stuff like this without actually looking at it.
      What’s confusing is: Slipping when you start is a sign of a warn belt or a belt that’s too long. Continuing to pull when you let off the peddle is a sign of a belt that’s too short. The only thing that can cause both issues is the pulley.

    I replaced both belts about a year ago, now the mower doesn’t want to climb up a
    Hill. I have to let off the gas pedal and then push the pedal again and again to make it climb. It also does this on level ground till the belt warms up. I guess I need to shorten the belt adjustment.?

    • @baldeagle242
      @baldeagle242  4 месяца назад +1

      More than likely, the belt needs to be shorter or adjusted tighter. I would also check to make sure the springs are all connected in the correct location, and the thickness of the belt is correct. Some mowers use a 5/8" belt, and some use a 1/2".

    A question. On my LTX 1050 (KW) the part numbers are 954-04207, lower drive belt and 954-04240. The lower drive belt is what you changed on here. Is the other belt the upper belt?

    • @baldeagle242
      @baldeagle242  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes, the upper belt can be reached through the battery compartment. It is a much shorter belt.

    • @markshortt2420
      @markshortt2420 2 месяца назад

      @@baldeagle242 For the LTX 1050 KW Hydrostatic, it shows no upper belt? But...I haent gotten that far yet. Dont spoil the ending!!

    • @baldeagle242
      @baldeagle242  2 месяца назад

      @markshortt2420 Opps… I assumed we were talking about the same mower in the video. 🤦🏻
      The hydrostatic model will only have one belt. Only the lower end models will have two belt with a variable speed pulley system. The mower you have will be different than the one in this video. Next time I have one in to replace the belts I’ll be sure to make another video on it.

  • @robertg7970

    I have a 2007 LT 1040 cub cadet. Will changing both belts be the same on mine as your video just showed? I hope I can get the pulley loose on the shaft seeing it has never been loosened!
    ?

    • @baldeagle242
      @baldeagle242  5 месяцев назад +1

      As long as it has the same type of shifter on the fender it will be the same. You will need to confirm your belt size though. Some of these mowers have a 1/2” wide belt instead of a 5/8”.

  • @user-vf1cd9ms9m

    I have the same 2013 cub cadet, when it gets to slight grade it stops. Is this a belt adjustment? I installed new belts.

    • @baldeagle242
      @baldeagle242  3 месяца назад +1

      It’s likely a belt adjustment. There are other issues that may cause this but more than likely it’s a belt issue.

  • @mikedonb
    @mikedonb 4 месяца назад +1

    I have a new drive belt but when I begin to go forward, it suddenly stops and/or slows down. I take my foot off the gas pedal and push down again and it will go. It does this intermittently. Also has trouble going up an incline. Do you think I might need to change the pullies?

    • @baldeagle242
      @baldeagle242  4 месяца назад +1

      That’s a sign of a warn belt or a new belt that’s too thin. It sucks too far down into the variable pulley and becomes loose on the drive pulley. I’d verify the new belt is the correct thickness and make sure there isn’t a stuck or frozen pulley that’s prematurely warn the belt.

  • @robertchambers2723

    • @baldeagle242
      @baldeagle242  3 месяца назад +1

      The part number should be under your hood.
