Oh my god glad your ok are you getting a new car thing are looking fantastic can’t wait to see it finished. Waiting for my shed to be built so I can build mine the shed it’s 9ft x6ft
I'm fine now just not helped my back of course. I replaced my car in June so all good. Just took time to recover hence no videos until now. Hope you well too. Good luck with the shed.
Glad to see you back😊 I was just thinking where you were as I was wondering if you know of any exhibitions on the border with France? Those hélices are fantastic! Well worth the money than trying to build from scratch. At least for me!! Looking forward to watching your layout grow. Ian Ex-pat N gauge modeller Metz, France
Ian thanks for posting mate, appricate your comments. I didn't know you are an Ex-pat! I am too lol. They cost me £710.00 just looked after I did the video lol. As for exhibitions it's getting a bit late in the year for that now mate. How's your French mate. I know a guy in France who weathers French railways stuff and he might know what and where they are. Fire me an email at ngauging160@gmail.com and I will send you a link to his site you can touch base with him. Regards, Dave B [DB]
Fantastic mate, despite your recent health issues youve done well to set it up, its going to be cracking. Hopefully you wont get too many derailments on the helixes, ive given up on set track for n gauge and going for a minimum 60cm radius.
@@staffordstationngauge8359 Hi mate, yeah Im buzzing atm getting to finally see some progress. Im confident that the Fleischmann R3 & R4 curves will be perfect and wont derail as I tested them after is built the first three layers. Just have to make sure ive got the gradient at 2.0% all the way round which is a pain and time consuming but worth the effort right? Ive had to mess about with a spirit level to get the angle right too so the coaches lean inwards which is now working. Just waiting on them to send my track now. Im hoping to pop over your sometime this month if thats ok mate?
@@ngauging your welcome to pop over however I wont be able to run anything as I am still building the Lichfield boards, it might be better if you come in January/February when I have the track down.
What a labour of love they are an epic build pal. Had I know how much work was involved I may not have taken them on haha. It's been a struggle I can tell you with my knackered back and the accident been a tough few months but light at the end of the tunnel and I am really looking forward to the next few years building it and running it. The silly thing is I never even thought about how much track I'd need to get from the top to the bottom on one never mind two. R3 and R4 Fleischmann track will cost me £540 x 4 ROFL. All good by the time I finish who knows what I will of spent but I don't care. All the best David have a top evening pal. Dave B
So you will know how much work that tool saved me my friend. After I used my hand to shift them bolts down on the first layer I was on the net hunting for a tool lol. I am only running 2 tracks around mine and never ever thought of how long the track will be and how much it is to buy the track needed. £540 x 4 just for the helix's track alone. Did you use track detection on your helix's by chance? Dave B
Frank I hope you are well my friend, I was just talking about you to a friend in Metz was asking if there are anymore model exhibitions do you know of any local to Metz which are coming up soon as I know you attend many shows with your weathering. I bought myself a new airbrush too my friend so I can compete with you haha. I have been looking at your latest weathered stuff, man you are too good for me my friend. I will have to pop over to see you one day and use my phone to translate lol. Can I pass your details to the guy in Metz if that's ok so he can touch base with you? I might be at Dortmund this coming year too hopefully. Stay safe and have a great festive season my friend. Dave B
very nice looking layout room two thoughts to shair with the track underlay on the helx applie it before putting the bits cover each section with the foam it will save the back .. and you said about back sean I would recomend flexie board /hardboard so you can curve the back sean round the corners of the room gives a more panoramice iloshion rightangel corners real look bad ! all the best withthe build
@@tomslade3365 Hi Tom thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. You wont be able to see, but I gave got hard board for the top section but its all under the bottom of the layout out of the way until I need to fix it in place at the end. The curving is precisely what I have planed and you are spot ob my friend will look cool. As for the trackbed, I’ve learnt my lesson after the first one. Hence why the second is not done yet I will be doing as you have suggested mate. Im proper pumped and cannot wait to finish and start planning the track work. So much work to do and I plan on making this very realistic as I can mate. Have a top weekend pal. Dave B

@ see you after Christmas mate, looking forward to running those long German freight trains again.
I know that's going to be a wonderful layout when done, Fleischmann and arnold make good trains.
Very great video detailing what you've done so far! Gotta love those helixes!

Exciting stuff, great bones for the layout. I built a 4 track helix 60 m of track, wish i had that tool.
