    The build is coming along.....sometimes I'm pulling my hair out trying to calibrate, but your videos are cutting what would be 345,678 hrs into a 39 hr job.....your my official favorite youtube channel yeah!!!!

    That was a great video, very informative. I also like the fact that it blows apart the idea that you HAVE to have a dedicated frame for these things.

    You guys are the best, I'm completely new to this incredible hobby, literally got my first toy quad a month ago, and am planning a hexacopter and quadcopter build, I'm hooked!!! Can't wait to become completely autonomous. I'm planning on installing a spoon having my quad stir my hot chocolate on a cold evening in high wind whilst filming it all with my gopro.....lol.

    HK have a nice box to fit this APM model 2.5 and 2.6 which also fixes the problem with having to cover the sensor for the Barometer as the plastic is smoked colored limiting the problem with sensor .Great Vids Guys,very entertaining as well as some great information on multi rotor autonomouse setups.
    Keep it up and

I would love if u guys could review it, maybe on the bixler. This review was one of the best. Congratulations keep on like this. And specially THANK YOU!!!!!

    As Josh and Josh, and especially David Windestål have shown us, its about the electronics on board (and the pilot) that define a multirotor, and often it's the simple frames that work the best. Plus if it's a test platform, you want something that's easily fixed/replaced.
    Have a look at Flitetest's video on the H-Quad for some reasons why it's a great platform

    On the latest version you can also put in waypoints via special x-bee equipment while it is flying. Also, you can put it on all types of rc aircraft or helps, just slightly different things.

    APM2.5 is excellent - particularly if you are a beginner FPV/multi-rotor pilot like me. Plus it gets itself and the GoPro home safely. Read the Geofencing stuff on the DIYDrones website for setting up a safe training environment in small urban flying sites.

    There are a lot of videos on RUclips where somebody has flown a model behind an obstacle like a stone pillar, a building, etc. The model uses line-of-sight communication, so it loses contact and RTL kicks in. Problem is that it heads straight for the launch site - wihich is on the other side of the obstacle - so the model flies straight into the obstacle. It would be really nice if the flight controller could log the location of the model and its signal strength, say once per second, so that if signal is lost, it can re-trace its footsteps and avoid whatever has caused it to lose signal. In so doing, it would also revisit places where signal strength was good, and the model may be taken back into control.

    • @TheTubeTempest
      @TheTubeTempest 8 лет назад

      +Mike Collins you can set it to climb to any altitude before returning so you can go above obstacles.

    • @XanderLuciano
      @XanderLuciano 8 лет назад

      I know this is 2 months later, but I have the APM 2.8 right now, and had that same concern, but I just increased the altitude for it to go to when RTL kicks in, and if you are above that set altitude it keeps that height. It's more just a matter of being smart when you have the failsafe on and are flying. I much prefer to have the RTL failsafe over it losing signal and dropping to 0 throttle.

    The Hobbyking one is a counterfeit. The actual unit produced by Ardu-pilot is $180 Can or US, and has a $20 GPS upgrade. The one in this video I believe is the hobbyking version as it doesn't come with a case or Josh isn't using it. I don't know what the difference between the two boards are, just that the appearance of the board itself is noticeably different, compare the photos on the ardu-pilot official website to those on HK and you'll see what I mean.

    Hi. I've a question which I hoppe can explain. I try to recover the informaction of the sensor al the output (Tx) of the telemetry port. But only some characters legible can visualize, In respect the rest of the info (the interesenting thing) I get only extrange characters, as a baud rate on serial port is out range . Can you explain how can I get that data? thanks...

    Some people like smooth flying, ability to configure everything and predictability. So many crazy NAZA fly aways and people getting hurt by their DJI suddenly coming to life when it was disarmed.

  • @crabbystick
    @crabbystick 11 лет назад

    Yes I believe that is possible, a friend has one in a plane and he just throws it and i think once the accelerometer senses 15m/s or some preset value, it starts the motor and flies off into the blue yonder

  • @drcuffe
    @drcuffe 11 лет назад

    Two very different products, if you want something to work out of the box Naza, APM is totally programmable, you can amend or write your own code. It needs tuning to work as well as Naza, but then you can reflash the APM into your planes as well, I have APM2.5 with OSD, I do really like the Naza tho

  • @katanamd

    Some people use rate for adjusting gains. But I would like it more for the reason that I just don't like the way quads fly in auto level. It is nice to be able to flip to it to take a sip of water or adjust goggles, but I fly 95% in rate mode.
    Thank you for the reply :)

    APM is the best opensource project available for waypoint navigation at this time. Check out 3drobotics' website if you are looking to purchase. NAZA also has a good platform but it is closed source and a bit more expensive. OpenPilot will have an offering in the next few months called the Revolution but it is still in testing.

    I am so happy to see this in a video. We followed the H-Quad and put on our APM and it works fantastically. You guys did a great job here as usual so keep up the good work. Just out of curiosity will you be doing any more on the APM? If they sent you a telemetry kit it would be great to see that shared because it takes it to a whole new level of cool. The mission planner also allows you to overlay the HUD on top of your fpv with a video capture card. Hope to see more and happy holidays

    I wish I had RTH on my Quad last Saturday... I lost orientation in a moderate wind at maybe 1/2 mile distance and the last I saw of poor little Quaddie she was booking towards a wooded appalachian ridge... Since then the dawg and I have hiked miles through the dense woods, and while we have found 15 ticks between us, we haven't found Quaddie. Next build - a Hex with Ardupilot.

  • @AzzaTwirre
    @AzzaTwirre 11 лет назад

    Naza is over $400 with GPS, has no ground station control and is closed source. A well-tuned ardupilot can ALmost compete with $1000+ FC systems as a UAV. Naza is only really a UAV when in RTH mode. AND the ardupilot will continue to get better.

    The APM2 board costs so much because it has really high quality sensors, especially the barometer for altitude. Other boards won't be as accurate.
