red/white spoon, white spinnerbait, swimbait with a big paddletail and suspending jerkbait are my go-to's

Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.

In the summer when they are in the weeds, I find a weedless worm Texas rigged works really well. (I like it because you can work it slowly in the pockets and take it over the top of snags/thick weed easily.)
When they are finicky and sun bathing in the shallows (often times mid day) when you think it is impossible to get them to eat, I find that half a black worm, Texas rigged with no leader and no wait works wonders.
Lastly, when ice fishing, a spoon with a little piece of herring seems to out-fish everything else. (Even dead herring on a tip up. I'm from Alaska so no live bait, but you I find whole dead herring gets the big ones, so you definitely want to use it)

Ive been pike fishing since i was 10, im 58 and my best all time pike lures are Mepps aglia spinners, size 3 to 5 silver is best but colored ones work good too, not only do these lures have great flash but the spinner creates water dispersion and when close to a fish it seems the feel it or hear it and smash it pretty good, they also cast well even in a bit of wind

Jay, I'm a big fan and I respect you as a fisherman. Is there another way you guys eat fish? I don't think you've ever tried cooking walleye deep fried. Scale it , cut it in half, score the skin, season it inside and out, cover it with potato starch and deep fry it until golden, yes, skin on. When served, squeeze a lime on it.

There is a lure we are using a lot in Europe (Sweden, Ireland) and which has proven to be a successful lure in North Saskatchewan (at WLL that Jay knows quite well). It is called Miuras Mouse and it has a large bucktail head with a tail that can be either a curly tail, a paddle tail or a twin tail depending on pike’s mood 😅.

Hey Jay, you got to share your lures with your dad. You can't let him sit there catching nothing with minnows. One more example of how plastics outfish live bait.

Nothing wrong with catching a big sucker. I think they're cool, plus they're great pickled if you catch them at the right time and the water's nice and cold.

my best day of fishing....using Rapala Super Shadow Rap in Hot Tiger Pike with an orange tail, an 11.5lb pike at 930 am off the dock, an 11 lb pike at 3 pm by a reef and a 4.5 lb walleye at 530, all with the same hook! Rush Bay, Lake of the Woods!

The last time I was in Canada all I use were rattletraps for a week. I just casted at brush in the water and got a fish almost every cast.
I threw a spoon and all I got was walleyes.
I was up there just for pike though.

You really missed the boat here. The #1 Pike bait always has and always will be a spoon. My favorite color is firetiger, but I catch them on many colors. My second choice would be a hard jointed swimbait like the S-Waver 168mm in a Perch pattern. #3 would be a spinnerbait, in white or chartreuse and white.

We always had good luck with mepps bucktails, #3 thru musky killer, black with gold blade especially good where we fished in Wisconsin. I caught a nice pike on a discontinued rubber bait in Canada, it's destroyed, but it got me my pb pike.
