Just finishing mine. It's the original version of the kit I bought in 2011. It's been languishing in the stash ever since. I was put off back then by some adverse comments on the kit. However, having a 'thing' for clipped winged Spitfires, I finally decided to give it a go. It's an absolute joy to build, accepting it is what it is. It also looks pretty good when when finished!
This kit is my next build and I've been debating which PE kits to purchase. This video has been a great build guide and has helped me make my aftermarket purchase decisions. Thank you.
Hey Stevie! Looks brilliant mate. A fab build and result. I love the later Spitfires with the clipped wings. Been looking for a 1/48 Spit to do and I think I have found it. Well done bud. Looks the buisness.
Got a bit confused when you mentioned one of the options was for 595 Squadron, never heard of that squadron flying Spitfire XII's, then I found out they flew some, after the Mk.XII had been withdrawn from front line use, in the Anti-Aircraft Co-Operation role to train Anti-Aircraft gunners, an unusual but unique decal option. I would love to see Airfix scale this kit, and a couple of other Spitfire/Seafire kits in 1/48, down to 1/72, my preferred scale.
Thanks for watching and commenting it's very much appreciated. The purple stuff is called smart putty, I got it from Amazon. It comes in a tin and you pull some from the block and shape it how you want on the model. Once finished then put it back in the tin
