I mean, he did show an easy alternative
this guy who made the vid mus be dumb
@@bakedsus2932 but if someone doesn’t have a torx, there’s a pretty huge chance they don’t have a mini flathead either…

Ikr what a stupid video 🤦♂️
@@dawidkenway5649 two seconds later he did it without the corx screw driver
@@dawidkenway5649 Yeah you fucking idiot, maybe if you paid attention
Stupid *and* contains potentially harmful misinformation, without disclaimers or any kind of warnings... For instance, that doing this will void your warrantee at best, completely and irrevocably destroy your controller at worst
Life saver, fixed a sticky bump button on top, saved me form wrecking it trying to pry it all apart. Thanks!
I can do that easily via yeeting my controller on the floor
Been there done that that’s why I’m here 😂 😂😂
Lol
Who used yeet still, cringe

I thought there was no screwdriver needed😅
He said no torx
Did you take it apart 🤣
If i dont have a torx i most likely dont have a baby flat head screwdriver
Ikr
I just went out and bought a screwdriver kit to find out the t8 I needed didn't have the holes thank you for your help now I don't have to return the kit.
I'm glad it helped 😁
Great I fixed the problem😁 now idk how to put back together..
Just follow the steps in reverse order, if you get stuck at all, feel free to ask for help
LMFAOO, same problem right here
Watch the video in reverse
I would’ve gone to a different video that tells you what need to do
Why did you have to fix youres? I have to fix mine because I rage and I'll throw it or something and the Ltd is stuck
NO OTHER VIDEO HELPED THIS WELL, THANK YOU
I have been searching all over RUclips for this video, thank you so much and congrats on 1000 subscribers.
Thank you. So glad you found my video and it's what you were after 😁
Thank you I was stuck on the side pieces until this video!
Having to pry open the cover is more stressful than any other part. They should make it easier
Thank you Mick for the demo on how to take apart the Xbox1 controller. I had to replace the headphone jack.
Thank you for the easy tutorial. I used a steel fingernail file to open my controller. Worked great!!!
I used a butcher knife and a cutting one
I used a chainsaw
I just started trying to customise Xbox/PlayStation Controllers and this really helps, thanks you! I’m subbed within 20 seconds of watching!
Thanks Tinker Man! I'd like to add that I had a bit of trouble using T8 torx because I don't have the hole in the end of my bit. I was able to use a tiny flathead to break off the "safety tips" from the screw heads and then get my torx down in there. Great video!
Well done mate, yea thats what i usually do too. Great you got it sorted 👍
They just break off?
I’m having this same issue with my T8 ! Which safety pins and how to break them pls ?
Center of star in the screw head has a protruding spike. My torx bit couldn't fit in there because the spike kept it out. I used leverage with a flathead to pry and break off that spike, then could seat the tip of my torx bit in the empty star spike free cavity.
helped me get to and fix the loose clip attached to the stick sensor. thanks!
Thanks my man! I actually had a Torx-screwdriver BUT the inner metal piece of the screws has come out, so I could not stick a torx in. With your method I could repair my xbox controller for the second time - these controllers are awesome when they work, but the construction is SO bad.
I keep trying to do this, I busted the pins or already and am trying to use a flathead but I think I'm just stripping the screws. Any suggestions?
now your at 100k subs. this channel has grown so much in this little time period' good job! *claps*.
Thanks dude, I was able to open my controller and fix the issue.
Just found your channel. At the start of your video you’re celebrating 1k followers, 2-years later…wow! Fair play
I thought alot of people would have the same problem i had, of a sticky button. i wanted to learn how clean underneath them. once you take off the thumbsticks you never go back to the front. Also i believe the reason for not sodering the headlhone jack is because no matter how its attached, its still a very weak point with a jack plugged in, and its easier to replace the way it is now.
Maybe with your soldering, idk, replacing the headphone jack is the most common thing I have to do for customers other than a nice deep cleaning or faulty bumpers tbh. Even shitty soldering keeps it in place so so much better for reconstruction. But yeah I get your point too
cheers mate, this was extremely helpful, keep up the good work mate.
Didn't have quite the same tools, but managed to get my left thumbstick back into its position (got knocked loose when it was dropped accidentally), all thanks to this vid. Appreciate the reference guide!
Thanks Champion. Glad you managed to fix it!
Bro plz share with me how you did it I'm about to break this controller trying to fix it I have no tools..
I got a knife and a screwdriver but it's no help
When ur stick came off was it really loose? Like just moves freely? Cuz that's how mine is idk if it's broken or the stick came off
Yeah they're cheap as hell. Took a tiny flathead and broke the "security" part off of it. Metal bends and snaps right out of the screw lol
Same. The screws at the bottom of the handles are always resisting to come out and the middle part breaks off
you have saved my soul and my controller and I thank you from the bottom of my heart
❤
Nice video. Congrats on 1k subs
Thanks so much ✌

Ummm I have rounded out screws in my controller and I don’t have a corx all I have is a really small flathead, what do you think I should do?
Crazy you hit 1000 that time and look at you now😮🎉
the screws in mine have a little tab right dead centre of the screw making it impossible to either put a torx head in or a screwdriver
Thank you this was really helpful
What flat head did you get and what size and can you get it from Home Depot? I bought 2 kits from amazon and the tools never work the xbox screws won’t even budge.
Simply Amazing Thanks Mate
Thanks mate now I know I need to buy a new jack and I know how to install thanks again
No worries, thanks for your kind comment mate! 😁
It might not be the jack that isn't working, you can update the controller through the Xbox and that fixes it sometimes
This will definitely help me coustom paint my controller, thank you
No worries, glad it will help 😁
Microsoft now does custom controller. Don't take any apart. Cost u

Hey man, if you still respond to comments, I just finished putting my controller back together, and it doesn’t turn on. something I noted, the bottom battery slides out, like it doesn’t go in there solid. do you know what I did wrong?
Wait how do I break the pin thing in the middle of screws I’ve tried to break it with a flathead but it won’t budge
I use a flathead myself
a tiny teeny flathead
He has the non security Torx screws, Xbox One S controllers use Security Torx (With the pin)
i have a piece of aluminum foil stuck in the hole were the battery’s go and idk if it’s safe to use it :/
Hi, so I’ve had my Xbox one controller for years and one day I opened those two back covers just to clean them, and after I closed one of the things that make it vibrate was making a weird noise. Do you know how I can fix this?
Hey thanks for your question. Something may have fallen down into where the vibrate motor is seated, like a bit of dust or something. Check this video out for more detail on them if you like ruclips.net/video/fPXbm2XC4gU/видео.html
I cover triggers and vibrate motors in this one
Tinker Man Mick Thanks
Could you help me out with the middle and 2 bottom screws, they are pretty rough to get out, should i just use wd 40 to loosen it?
you never got a reply 2 years?
Thank you soo much!! Just saved me £50! You’re star mate!
Now that's what I like to hear! That's great news mate, well done ✌
Hey Mick, i have a normal torx T8 non security screw driver, and it looks like i need a srecurity t8 torx, and i dont have the mini flathead, can u give me an idea, how to open it with the non security t8 torx, plz
I am talkin about a Xbox one s Controller i got with the console like 2 yrs back
hola, que tamaño de punta plana nesesito?
Hi, what size flat tip do I need?
Hey bro any chance you could do a video on cleaning a series 2 controller cleaning method without taking it apart just the basic cleaning strats live the videos
So with the bumper i fixed it with the blowing into the cavity thing and it worked for like an hour and it stopped working all of a sudden so I beat the crap out of the bumper because this had happened like 8 times before with the same controller and that one was a custom one and it just broke a week after I got it with all the stick drift and stuff
The new controller clip on parts are a sad thing imho. I managed to pry it open and it’s not like the damage matters but it does has some prying scars on the edges. You could say it looks better without visible screws but I prefer my controller te be disassembled without brute force. Anyway thanks for the video! I’m off to order a screwdriver set as I just moved houses and I have no clue… 😅
Thank you really helped
Yay this worked I’ve taken apart two Xbox remotes now
You can use a small phillips screw driver to break to "safety" post from the torx screws. Then you can use a normal #8 torx or maybe get your flat head in there easier
I've never been able to break that pin off for fear of breaking the screw itself
@@Luke-nc6fj I'm glad I tried it. Snapping them off was a bit nerve racking but it worked on each screw and I was able to clean and fix what I needed. Bought myself maybe another year before it totally wears out
Thanks for this! My Xbox Controller had a piece that held LT down and i managed to remove it.
This is my exact problem
@@user-df2uh7yu1i yup, I just had to open it and get the little piece
When that little tab broke off it didn't effect how the pannel went back on?
Hey tinker man the flat head is not working for the screw behind the sticker what do I do?
ti is a wholesome guy lets help him to 15k
You just saved me 50 bucks thanks man
thanks dude u helped me fix my controller great video good explanation
A lot harder actually doing it than it seems on video. I busted my series x controller just unscrewing it 😁 I personally don't care because a $20 controller works just as good as a $70. It was just going to sit in a drawer for the next 10 years anyways. Also those little potentiometers will open with quite a bit of working at it. However, getting the new one in and closing it is another story all together, yep I tried after I broke the controller just to see if it is doable. I have like 20 more controllers with drift, I might just try to solder new sticks on if I don't break the controller taking it apart again.
Almost got 100,000 subs now came quite the way man
Dude it's just unbelievable! Every day I'm still trying to convince myself this is actually real 😍
When I was taking apart my controller the wires on one of the vibrators broke off and it’s now detached what do I do
Hey.. Dk if u reply to old vids but I can't get mine open ND I'm scared to add force incase I break it 😢
Thank you very much

Thanks bro u saved me a lot of stress bc my joystick popped out lmao

I used 2 butter knifes to pry open the back just stuck them in the cords and moved them around and now Lt works

Anytime! 👍
Lol
/me indeed
I dont have a flat head small enough to take the screws out. I'm unsure of what to do
Is there any way to undo torx without a torx screwdriver or bit
The title CONTRADICTS your video …
What if, you know, you’ve tried this so many times that your screws are, you know, stripped?
I rounded the screws and can't find the link to fix it, i have spare screws from another controller
You just saved my life tonight and you don't know it. Take my like and subscribe, u deserve it
TYSM!! :D
Hey tinker dudeeee I really need help with my mic on my iPhone 7 Because it’s either dirty or broken idkk and I might need to clean it but idk how and u seem like the smartest dude
Hey man, thanks for the compliment! 😊
Let's see what we can do.
To start, could you please describe the problems with your mic in a little more detail? Is it muffled? Is it making your voice sound like it's crackling? Or just no sound at all?
Also, is it when you talk during a regular call to your ear or when you use loud speaker? Is the loud speaker option available during calls or greyed out? Can you still record movies with good quality sound?
Sorry for so many questions but the more detail you can provide, the better advice I can give over the internet ✌
Tinker Man Mick nah it’s good the questions are fine but I’m glad u responded and the speaker option is greyed out when I call and voice recordings won’t work since it can’t pick up sound I’m assuming?
It sounds like an Audio IC issue my friend 😥 i dont have a video on that yet so i would suggest doing a little googling. Its a common mainboard issue Apple wont admit to as far as ive researched.
The Audio IC chip starts to lift and pulls the microscopic trace from the motherboard, breaking the connection. A very advanced repair you can see being performed on channels such as @Paul Daniels, @Electronics Repair School or @Louis Rothman.
I may drop a video on this some time myself, as I get a few questions about it - but I hope that this helps for now.
Tinker Man Mick much appreciated and that does sound quite complicated so I will most likely get a professional to fix it or just watch the channels u recommended but thanks a lot
Thanks for the upload
Nice I subbed 👍
Thanks champion! 😁
I gave up on doing that it took me 1 hour to take off both panels then I couldn’t open it with the flathead screwdriver I just ordered a tool kit instead hopefully it’s more easier
If you use a flat head screw driver your going to have to use some force but it worked for me
@@franzmarx5147 i tried but it was like making the top of the screw turn to a circle when it’s supposed to be like a star. I did get the kit though as I said I would and it was very easy to open up the controller.
Ty so much
I can’t I got 3 of the screws out but the other 2 will not break turn or move at all
Thanks for the video, I never really had the courage to open a a controller, but you have me the courage!!
There is actually a kit you can buy on amazon and has all the tools that you need
what size flathead should it be
Flathead wont work, the new TORX screws in my controller have an indent in them where the TORX driver is the only thing that will fit
Life. Saver.
I know I can pause, I know you jumpcut the video but godamn I feel like an absolute incompetent monkey when you're on step 20 and I'm still stuck trying to get a thin whatever-i-could-find through the groovy little pieces in the back of the handgrip
So what happened to no torx screwdriver? I legit don’t have one and apparently I need one even tho you said without one
Is there a way to do this without a scree driver?
Why do mine have knobs in the middle of the screw... can't touch it with a normal torx...
the middle one is really stiff, any tips?
What size is that flat head?
Hello Tinker man Mick! I'm here!
the middle torque screw behind the batteries broke like the thing in the middle of the screw broke off
Just out curiosity can you switch the shells of two different xbox one controllers?
Nah man every controller is completely different so they aren't compatible
i actually just stripped the screws until the middle thing disappeared, then i could use regular star screwdriver lol
How do u take off the sides with out anything
