This movie very much what it's supposed to be, a turn your brain off and have fun on the ride, nothing more. Sometimes movies are meant to be full on, over the top escapism and this one does it in spades.

Although this movie was fun and threw in a lot of wild scenarios, I miss how the first movie handled its serious emotional moments. While I realize the pressure was on for the characters to keep moving, I wish we could’ve seen more emotional depth around them, especially for MeiYing’s character as a 14 year old who should be dealing with the mixed emotions of getting to see deep beneath the sea like her mother while also witnessing people being eaten and imploding before her eyes. I don’t think she or anyone else has to take a total shift into being completely fragile but seeing more emotional vulnerability would have added a lot; I think there was a way to show the gravity of what was going on and how it’s affecting the characters, while still keeping the nonstop crazy action and not affecting runtime by much. I also wish the villains weren’t as cartoonishly evil. While corporate greed is a believable evil and really common in the monster movie genre, their bland motive just felt uninspiring and forgettable, especially given that the first movie handled its greed-fueled character in a much less stereotypical manner. As it is, while I was still rooting for the characters, seeing so many survive and seem so unaffected by their experience kinda made me enjoy the movie less than the first, since there seemed to be much more genuine heart to the characters in that one. I will also say that I like that DJ had growth between the two films and became an action hero in his own right, as a result of learning from the events of the first movie (events that a lot of the other characters didn’t seem to learn from). I also kind of wish one of the central messages from the first film “it’s about who you *can* save” was more prevalent, though I realize the villains of this one made it not as applicable of a phrase

Hey guys I'm so happy I got to see your reaction to Meg one and now Meg 2🦈🦈🦈🐙 Also to answer your question yes the little girl is the same girl from the first movie she's all grown up now I'm so happy they brought her back And so happy to see Jason Jonas fighting more megs NTJ was really cool learning how to swim and fight and shooting his own gun🔫
Absolutely LOVED this film. the main reason I was hyped for them doing a sequel was because i am a huge fan of the books, and Angel is my favorite part of the series so i was SO happy they kept her in the film (i didn't mind that they changed her name to Haiqi). in the book it was alot less ambiguous with her. she had been raised in captivity like here, and she knew jonas. and there were scenes where she very obviously chooses not to kill jonas, and outright saves him in other scenes, like in this film with Jiuming. but i would be fine if it just became a running gag where she DOESN'T kill the main characters, but it looks like she just gets distracted by something else. the rest of the film was a blast, insane action, funny dialogue, self awareness and some really tense moments. I hope they continue with this series.
A very fun movie. Jason Statham still the cocky badass Englishman, TJ reminding me of L.L. Cool J from Deep Blue Sea and quite possibly the best character in the movie.
The opening scene for the movie, where the Meg starts eating the T Rex, is a big middle finger to Universal and JURASSIC PARK for making millions of dollars at the box office.
not so much a middle finger as a fun jab, but yeah, it ABSOLUTELY was a jab at the Jurassic park series. as said the opening scene here is the opening scene from the first book. and the first book was published in 97, the same year as The Lost World. infact, it came out just one month after the lost world opened in theaters. one of the review tag lines on the inside cover was even "Jurassic Shark". it had other references too. Pippin was a reference to the dog that apparently gets eaten in Jaws, also called pippin. and pippin was actually in the first book, it belonged to Jonas' ex-wife. and ended up in a similar situation.
54:41 Why do people keep saying he is holding the meg back with his foot ? In that scene (to me at least ) he is obviously just trying not to slide down the wet dock into its mouth. He is using it like a step off point or something
the sea floor walking scene in this one reminds me of another movie called "Underwater" which is another great watch. Its about a deep sea mining team that gets attacked by unknown creatures and have to escape back to the surface, a great suspenseful movie that not many people heard of because it got released in January of 2020.
Meg 1 is still my favorite but Meg 2 was just good in its own way as it was just fun🔥. I loved the tech and technology as a whole that was shown in this film as compared to the first one they leveled it up. Jason Statham is one of my favorite action stars and he was great and intense again in this film👍. Sergio Peris-Menchata was really good as the antagonist as well. I enjoyed the action final sequence in the film. Loved your reaction/analysis, take care, enjoy life, stay healthy and have a good one❤️
Honestly, the movies are very similar to the books. The books started out relatively grounded for a giant monster series and then proceeded to get more silly and stupid with each new iteration. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next novel or the third Meg movie is set in outer space…
This is silly but fun, Is it Statham at his best?!? No, but it is still Classic Statham! 😎 The mineral crusher fight scene is a call back nod to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom! 😉 I like the first one more but I like how they amped up the Action times 5 in this one! 🤩
Happy to see you resume on your group reactions after you last did one on your _2001: A Space Odyssey_ reaction three weeks ago and I wonder why you didn’t do more following your 2001 reaction for three weeks? Once again I enjoyed the reaction and I recommend to Hailey and Stella they will watch the following Science Fiction films (outside of the Terminator, Alien and Predator films) such as _Arrival_ and _Blade Runner: 2049_ (both films directed by Denis Villenueve who did _Dune_ which Hailey and Stella reacted to), the original _Blade Runner, ET: The Extra Terrestrial, Minority Report, Ready Player One, _The Matrix_ films and _AVATAR_ (including its sequel, _The Way of Water)_ In addition, I hope all four of you will look into the live-action _One Piece_ series cause you’re completely missing out on the series and just a week ago the show was renewed for another season.
It was so fun watching you guys react to this one. This is one of those movies that you suspend all belief and just have fun watching this. Pure escapism. There's another underwater one you guys should watch, The Abyss (I love the director's cut of this one.).
I just knew the uncle was going to die with his recklessness 😂😂😂 I originally didn’t care to see this because the trailer alone looked way more goofy than the first but overall it was a fun mindless watch
When The Transporter goes head to head against of Jaws' bigger prehistoric ancestors while riding a jet ski atop an ocean wave and brandishing a sword, you know it's gonna be epic!!!!😤
Watched this one in Dolby Cinema at AMC. The opening scene is from the first in the MEG novel series. Would've been cooler to see in the first film. Like the first film, it's another big budget B-movie. But it pulls from one direction to another. It wants to be fun, action packed and suspenseful. But takes a stroll through some serious drama (like it or not). Twists and turns with the human characters and just having to deal with the creatures from the treach The effects are pretty good. Every creature including the Megalodon(s) look formidable. Another smash for Statham ($390 mil worldwide) plus he returns for Expendables 4 in September. MEG 3 is definitely going to happen.
The fact that you said a random Amphibian is a human relative baffles me seems like you just read a random shady article and went off. And not just humans, modern day humans And they're definitely not ichthyostega. They're just an unknown species of Crocodilians. Stop giving false info.
They're not supposed to be anything. Some sites say they're based on Koreanosaurus (which looks nothing alike), that they're Kronosaurs (which look nothing alike). There's nothing scientific about the Meg movies. There's fictional amphibians, an octopus ridiculously larger than any that ever existed and megalodons which are at least 3 times bigger than the biggest megalodon jaws/teeth ever found. Dinosaurs went extinct at least 40 million years before megalodon existed. Whatever those snappers are based on, only Kronosaurs lived during the late Cretaceous, together with T-Rex, but Kronosaurs are marine reptiles, not amphibians. Nothing in these movies is even remotely accurate and that's not the point of it either. It's just supposed to be brainless, ridiculous fun.
No. They dont resemble any real life animal, at least not any semi-aquatic nor deep sea ones. Theyre just a science fiction creature made for the movie. And saying something that went extinct before dinosaurs were a thing is related to MODERN DAY humans? Nah, we are more related to Trex or Bananas.
I hope the next movie that you guys would like to watch is (underwater)2020. Now that’s a real horror movie because basically I’m afraid of being under water
12:06 when the girl says “do you miss your mom big fish?” She’s referring to the Meg from the last movie, the first one is the father (killed by the poison) and second Meg is the mother (stabbed in the eye) of the Haiqi
If I'm correct, Haiqi is the shark we saw swimming out of the female Megalodon's mouth at the end of the first film as it was being eaten by all the other sharks. Which means that she is the daughter of the female Meg in that film, which also means that she is the film's version of the Megalodon known as "Angel" in the books.
I liked the film. The craziest thing was that a really good friend of mine watched this with me when it came out and realized we saw Meg 1 exactly 5 years prior to the date! We both enjoyed the film. Very popcorn style which is fine. But the first had more emotional depth with the characters and felt more complete compaired with this one. I think if they were able to make the villans more personal with our characters and have a bit more emoitional depth with Jason, his now new kid, and the uncle could have made this movie better than the first. Meg isn't mindblowing but the first felt more solid. Love yalls reaction and was fun to watch Meg 2 again.
Since all of y’all are watching monster movies, y’all should watch Cloverfield right after y’all watch Annihilation, the movie is both good and nerve racking..
What is your favorite sea creature?

not so much a middle finger as a fun jab, but yeah, it ABSOLUTELY was a jab at the Jurassic park series. as said the opening scene here is the opening scene from the first book. and the first book was published in 97, the same year as The Lost World. infact, it came out just one month after the lost world opened in theaters. one of the review tag lines on the inside cover was even "Jurassic Shark".
it had other references too. Pippin was a reference to the dog that apparently gets eaten in Jaws, also called pippin. and pippin was actually in the first book, it belonged to Jonas' ex-wife. and ended up in a similar situation.
(At 29:18) unless you have a strong set of lungs… that wouldn't be recommended, unless you want them to collapse.
(At 43:20) He wasn't there with his father, sister, or niece last time.
I personally like the first movie better.
I was waiting for this movie reaction for ages!!! ❤
When I saw this in theatres the part with the eel scared the crap out of me.
Honestly, the movies are very similar to the books. The books started out relatively grounded for a giant monster series and then proceeded to get more silly and stupid with each new iteration. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next novel or the third Meg movie is set in outer space…
Yay I been waiting for this reaction 😊
You are not the only one 🙂
(At 13:25) Y'all failed to notice a small 80 ft ancient great white shark escaped last night?
This is silly but fun, Is it Statham at his best?!? No, but it is still Classic Statham! 😎 The mineral crusher fight scene is a call back nod to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom! 😉 I like the first one more but I like how they amped up the Action times 5 in this one! 🤩
I think you guys should watch the cave 2005 if you haven’t seen it
3:07 - 3:19 Movie Writers: Write that down! write that down!
Happy to see you resume on your group reactions after you last did one on your _2001: A Space Odyssey_ reaction three weeks ago and I wonder why you didn’t do more following your 2001 reaction for three weeks?
Once again I enjoyed the reaction and I recommend to Hailey and Stella they will watch the following Science Fiction films (outside of the Terminator, Alien and Predator films) such as _Arrival_ and _Blade Runner: 2049_ (both films directed by Denis Villenueve who did _Dune_ which Hailey and Stella reacted to), the original _Blade Runner, ET: The Extra Terrestrial, Minority Report, Ready Player One, _The Matrix_ films and _AVATAR_ (including its sequel, _The Way of Water)_
In addition, I hope all four of you will look into the live-action _One Piece_ series cause you’re completely missing out on the series and just a week ago the show was renewed for another season.
It's just such a fun movie, absolutely wild and dumb but turn your brain off fun.
Rambo, jaws, dumb & dumber, jurrassic park, betrayal, romance, family, comedy, & mystery. Here, I thought bollywood was wild & crazy🤣
I knew you guys would enjoy this movie when it got to “fun island” 😂 I loved watching that part in the cinema with a crowd.
When The Transporter goes head to head against of Jaws' bigger prehistoric ancestors while riding a jet ski atop an ocean wave and brandishing a sword, you know it's gonna be epic!!!!😤
That was.... interesting. Did you guys lose a bet and were forced to watch this?
Great reaction
Did Stella always have that lip piercing? It really pops out and looks nice here
I kept thinking the girl on the left was in pain with her lip ring. I think you kids would like the Tremors movies.
*Underwater movie*
Stella has left the chat
Stella's face when she saw the apex meg, was mine... I said ok... I quit! lol
What the flying fack is my only reaction to this haha I like the action XD but it was little hmmm XD
Twists and turns with the human characters and just having to deal with the creatures from the treach
The effects are pretty good.
Every creature including the Megalodon(s) look formidable.
Another smash for Statham ($390 mil worldwide) plus he returns for Expendables 4 in September.
MEG 3 is definitely going to happen.
alot of those people got swallowed and slowly digested and i hate the thought of that
Ocean gate vibes from this... also love this movie.
Stella's eyes look sad. I hope she is okay ❤️
The amphibious creatures, nicknamed Chompers, are supposed to be Ichthyostega, a species of amphibian that's distantly related to modern day humans.
They went extinct before the dinosaurs even existed
The fact that you said a random Amphibian is a human relative baffles me seems like you just read a random shady article and went off. And not just humans, modern day humans
And they're definitely not ichthyostega. They're just an unknown species of Crocodilians. Stop giving false info.
Sure, I see the resemblance lol lol
So now the question is: Has Stella ever read/seen The Magicians? Her love of Pressure calls for it!
Nahhh this was how you do an insane sequel to an already insane first film and it worked well.
Yes it’s the same child actress but older
Jiuming has like the biggest plot armor I have seen in live movie.
I just watched it hahahaha it's so funny. and.... I didn't expect the plot. I needed a lightwight movie after the horror XD
You guys need to look up the book series. This turns into a lot more than a shark movie.
I have a feeling that the Meg (series, maybe?) being the modern version of the Sharknado series
even if it not him, she owns your channel. she's too beautiful and honest
Couldn't find any website that has the movie in HD and not recorded but imma watch this with you guys
I think the shark that killed the squid was Haiqi.
this movie series was originally a book series. the books are so much better, and go really in depth on the science stuff. super cool stuff.
Since all of y’all are watching monster movies, y’all should watch Cloverfield right after y’all watch Annihilation, the movie is both good and nerve racking..
(At 24:17) Zeus: release the kraken!
