My favorite preppy style is the fall style- peacoats, sweaters, tall leather boots, stripes and plaid (I like using this word). Lol I use darker colors, though- dark, medium, and light grays, black, maroon, navy blue, dark, medium, and light browns, and white. I dont really dress preppy during the summer. I'm more of a skater look. Lol I love both those styles. So, I just choose them for different seasons.
Yes I feel like preppy is perfect for fall and autumn style! Haha I did end up looking into the word plaid and it is actually the correct word! A tartan is a plaid with a name, so now I am training myself to use the word plaid 😂 I love that you dress in different styles for different seasons! Although I like to have a classic & preppy base to my wardrobe, I definitely like to inject different styles in too - like western wear, or right now I am experimenting with “dark academia” aesthetic which is quite fun! Wow, I keep taking style quizzes and “preppy” kept coming up, and I thought, “no, I’m not preppy” and didn’t understand the meaning behind it, and after watching 2 of you videos now, I am stunned because I have been doing a mimic of preppy style without realizing it. I love Ralph Lauren equestrian looks, scholarly styles, have loved Burberry patterns and a little nautical. And vests over everything. I am thankful to embrace this and be a little more intentional with how I dress! Most of these things you mentioned, I already have!
The basque area downtown shops are very preppy chic! If we ever get out of lockdown I’m definitely going to explore basque preppy fashion. Unfortunately the last time I was there the shops were closed but they had those mannequins in the window looking very chic and preppy.
I used to like mostly sporty chic fashion or sexy rebel / military esque . My mom buys the boho look for me . Not sure why I personally rarely indulge my girly side. But as I get older I’m trying to be more confident in sporting a preppy & feminine look

Cable knit sweater: L.L. Bean for wool, Ralph Lauren for cotton. I just got a beautiful white (not cream or ivory) 100% cotton V-neck one from RL. It is fabulous quality, will last me a lifetime, but was fairy priced, around $100 US, I think. I like ivory and crew necks, too, but this exactly filled a big wardrobe gap for me. I don’t think Floridian style, like Lily Pulitzer is preppy or even classic, those tropical prints are faddish.
I enjoyed this :) I wasn't familiar with that Southern US style - what were your main reference points for that (i.e. movies and shows perhaps)? On that note I'd be interested in knowing said reference points for the US North-East and British styles too.
Yay I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I suppose my main reference points aren’t really movies or shows when looking at preppy fashion, more gaining inspiration from places like Instagram and Pinterest. Just searching “southern prep” on Instagram hashtags brings up some great inspo! The blogger @lonestarsouthern really embraces this Southern preppy style and I would check out @sarahkjp for the US North East style :)
Do more men’s videos please I would love something that expands on the American style or like Polo or something. Your guy prep video was more helpful than a bunch of videos made by guys. You look great in the houndstooth

My country doesnt have cold seasons so i dont have alot of opportunities to wear preppy clothes with the trench coats and sweaters. But i love the style nonetheless and try to wear preppy and not sweat buckets 😅
I am realizing that my sister dresses up pretty preppy without being aware of it. 🤣 As for me, I see the plain white blouse and I feel like adding frills, lace or bows. 😂😂😂 I definitely need a less clean look, more leaning towards a girly form of preppy, like Blair Waldorf. 💚✨ P. I am such a fan of those girly elements too! Any sort of ribbon, bow, or even a collar will get me hahah I've also realized I inject a bit of a vintage element in my preppy outfits sometimes, which Blair Waldorf often does too! 💕

Funnily enough I’m kinda the opposite at the moment! I’m growing out my natural hair color and thought I may as well just leave my bangs alone too haha so headbands have been super helpful to get my hair off my face. I totally get the return guilt too! I really try to avoid returning things when I can, but if it just doesn't fit right or I know it will be uncomfortable then I have to 😓 Maybe you could buy a size up in the shirt and take it to a tailor? That way they could take in the waist but it will still have room for your bust. Should only be around $10 to do this!
I thought prep style originated in England because of the boarding schools and colleges like Oxford and Cambridge. That’s so weird! Never would’ve thought the term originated here in the US of A
