When I heard and saw this style I was like this is my family Lol I’m a first generation American my family is from Jamaica and came here to this country in the last 60’s when everybody had style and class. I think about how my grandmother dressed and decorated the house and entertained during the holidays. I find myself dressing like this when I was in my 20’s I’m now 45 yrs old. I love this style it’s classic and polished and cozy.
It's funny that what is described as Coastal Grandmother style is also the style we've had in France for a long time (and probably most European countries). Chic, timeless, effortless, aesthetic, comfortable and flattering at the same time. And it's not just our grandmothers or pensioners who wear it but women of all ages :) Not every French woman of course but it's one of our favourite styles for a chic casual look. Your wooden vanity is beautiful!
Yes exactly what I was going to comment , what the girls here in America are trying to make a trend is something that exist for ages in Europe , and it’s the same colour palette , and you got it wrong with both preppy and old money definitions . The queen of preppies is Sarah Vickers Patrick and her style is definitely nothing to do with that pic . And old money ofc you can get some luxurious brands but at the same time is not showing or bragging about them .
Great description on how it differs from other styles. Looking forward to more of your content! To all you coastal grandmothers out there, I think a great later fall/early winter coat option is a capote coat in a white alpaca. It’s on my list! Thanks Kate!
Thank you, this is so helpful! I have loved the CG colours in spring and summer, but used to go darker in autumn and winter. And I really resented that! So this year I have continued the CG colours into autumn with a cream trench and a couple more light sweaters in lighter colours. I feel so much better for it. You have helped me plan for winter too. This is the best vlog on CG that I have seen and I regularly search. ❤
I love this! And would love to see more on capsule wardrobes - maybe even the basics of how many items we should have of each. I work in an office and cannot seem to figure out an out of office set of clothes and one that I can wear to work.
I absolutely love your style and fabulous video!! I can agree on the Chelsea boot I’m in Charleston SC definitely coastal but when hurricane season come oh my I definite day Chelsea boot/ rain boot is appropriate lol I take my little Maltese out and I get drenched! Any way love your Chanel!
You have a nice calm voice. Some American you tubers sound a bit loud and over excited. As I am a real Costal Grandmother I'm happy to see advice for where I live and for my age group. Just now I'm wearing leggings a lot and often with a dress or skirt over them.
Hi cate! Can u please do a list for "french style pieces year-round", "rich-mom aesthetic year-round", items you would bring to a safari, items you would bring to a cruise, items you would bring to a beach vacation? I really enjoyed this video so much i had to write down everything! 😊
You mention linen several times, but I believe we are moving away from that fabric towards cotton blends. I love Lands End Starfish. Linen is lovely, but a bit too wrinkly.
I figured out why old money likes linen. Its vibrational level is 5,000, unlike organic cotton which is 100. New Agers always want to "raise their vibration."
No. You can not 'achieve coastal grandmother status' by just implementing a certain style of clothing. Status is a 'relative social or professional position; standing' and wearing clothes has nothing to do with it.
I’m 38 and this wardrobe has been my dream wardrobe since my early thirties lol. I’m loving this
Great video! Interesting, funny, charming. I need like a coastal witchy grandma aesthetic so I can wear all my black pants still 😂
* adds witchy aesthetic to the list *
I think a navy pea coat for the winter
I’ve be3n rocking this coastal look for 30+ years here on the coast in S FL long before anyone named it. I will say you nailed it.
Haha, “duck boots”. Up here in Maine, We coastal grandmothers call them Bean Boots (as in L.L.)
Just subscribed I love this style of clothing. I live on the gulf coast of Florida. I love neutral colors
This grandmother approves.

I think I am already a coastal grandmother!
I loved this and I’m delighted to discover that I’m a coastal grandmother. Thank you 🙏
This was so good!

There are a lot of similarities! I think the main difference is the colour palette, since it's on the lighter side. And thank you!

I could do a capsule wardrobe overview...
A true coastal grandmother would never mean to be ‘stunning’- just ‘neat and appropriate’
lmao sorry I didn't use the right adjectives.
@@CateKittlitzNice comeback!! LMAO … people, honestly lol
Still relevant! great video
Love this! I found you on TikTok but would love to see more RUclips videos from you! 😊

I'm Canadian, so that's probably why, thank you!
@@CateKittlitz Also as a Canadian you might know about cold wet winters and how to dress warmly but still costal.
Me on the coast in the pnw wearing chelsea boots right now haha. Really though, this video is so well put together and super helpful!

Love this style! How do you take this aesthetic into the dry Southwest?
More aesthetics please! Maybe clean girl and dark academia?
love those ones!

I just discovered it. Amaizing
I love the idea of this style but it is so not for my body. I love the simplicity!
Never wide legged pants.
This grandma wears Levis☺
her pictures for description only stay up a few seconds. reminds me of tic toc
It's called comfort and not dressing to impress.

lmao this is a fun fashion video, it’s not that deep 😵💫
