  • With the BlackBerry KEYone now widely available and new Black Edition variants making their way to market, CrackBerry Kevin swung by the Cheddar offices once again. On tap for discussion was how KEYone is doing, what TCL is doing to help the BlackBerry brand thrive and a little bit of what's next by way of devices.

    OK, seems like it's finally time for me to upgrade my Blackberry Z10 for the KEYone. Unfortunately Verizon, the only service I have ever used, doesn't carry Blackberry any longer.

    As I was typing this comment I just saw a BlackBerry KEYone commercial on ESPN! This was the first commercial for a BlackBerry phone I have seen on a regular broadcast since the BlackBerry Storm2 back in the day! They need to keep this up to get the word out about how great the KEYone is and how great BlackBerry in general is still.

    I love the keyone because it provided a feature no other phone did in 2017; a physical keyboard. Blackberry straight up competing with a new all-touch android device against other established manufacturers seems foolish unless they have something extraordinary up their sleeve.

      Denny Adiputra if it's TCL, they know how to make touchscreen phones. It'll probably be a really nice looker for once.

    Yes!
    The Phoenix rises from ashes.
    BlackBerry is THE phone for getting things done for men who prefer performance over looks, and are not interested in shiny toys but want things that actually deliver efficiency. I dont watch "movies" and "media" on my iphone. I watch it on my 65 inch TV 4K.
    The phone- I need it to be efficient- not a toy.
    This is what differentiates men from boys.
    And YES-. THIS is THE design they should stick to.
    BB is nothing without physical keyboard.
    I had all important phone numbers shortcut programmed into my BB back in 2008- One long press- and a call would be made to my desired contact.
    The universal search meant I just started typing name of a contact and it would bring up the phone number.
    in Iphone: I have to follow this many steps to do that task that was a simply two key presses in Blackberry.
    Exit the app where you last left your phone > Click on Phone icon in home screen> then another click to take the cursor into the "search" box for contacts> Then start typing name if cointact>>> another click>choose from the menu if you want to call, or message them.
    5-8 clicks to make one phone call.
    BB.. it was two clicks and then trackpad you just slide and navigate through menu.press and out went the call.
    It sounds like its time for me to consider going back to the productivity and intuitive trackpad slide navigation that was THE holy grail of top efficiency of productivity and communications. Nothing has come even remotely close to what BB acheived in its heyday. I REALLY hope I can just go back to my BB workflow.
    Would have never gone to iphone, had the BB integration with Google apps been better.
    Back then, the BB integration with Google apps wasnt great.
    It sounds like its finally good enough for me to consider ditching iphone as my main daily driver.
    I would just relegate my Iphone to use as a backup for certain medical apps , and for all productivity like emails, and other communications I would go back to BB.
    I REALLY hope they make KEyTWO (or whatever) better than KeyOne.
    Look forward to it.

    I thought about the KEYone.....It's just that Android OS is nowhere near as good as BB OS, but it lacks app support. Security isn't strong as a BB OS......Tough call..... Overall, good interview CBK. -Current BB OS7 user.

    The biggest tragedy is the decline of BBM. It was the innovative messaging platform leading the way, many moons before iMessage, WhatsApp, and the like. 98% of the people you will know don't even recall what it is or have never heard of it.

      That doesn't make any sense. Never getting feedback from users like that. Almost sounds like bad unit somehow. That phone is supporteed by Optiemus, so you need to reach out to their support. You can send me an email -- kevin @ crackberry.com -- and detail out all your issues and I can try to forward along too.

    It's about finding that niche and giving the blackberry owners what they want. Hmmm....how about that PlayBook everyone wanted? Blackberry10? Promises promises.

    • @crackberry
      @crackberry  7 лет назад +2

      Good promises if all the apps were there. No apps no go (no matter how good the OS is)

    • @Surago
      @Surago 7 лет назад +1

      CrackBerry Kevin I like you man, and I know you have a brand to back. This doesn't change the fact that someone, at some point dropped the ball. They wanted to build an os that could do everything and put no thought into the apps that need to be integrated in order to make sales. And I don't think anyone will disagree, they made no where near the necessary effort to advertise the hell out of a bad ass OS

    • @djoetma
      @djoetma 7 лет назад

      Surago Nobody wanted it. There's no use in pushing it then. It made sense to pick BB10 for many government and corporate players, yet they didn't even consider BB. Also, app developers kept waiting. You're pretty much done then.

    • @olfacius

      BB10 was insanely good. It was so hard to let it go... Now to either go and get a KeyOne or wait for an all touch to replace my Z30. (I did buy a Dtek 50, but it was fragile and broke, with no repairers available...)
