I don't hate Palia. But if the devs are going to be acting all shady then I'm not going to trust them either. I don't want to fall in love with a game that might not be around or goes the way of EA pricing in the Sims. I am willing to wait and see if they can do better.
I was super excited for Palia and followed it for a year. After two weeks of playing it I am super disappointed. The game is essentially a bunch of people playing a single player game together, with the only reason this is an MMO is for Singularity Six to try to rake in money. The game itself is a non-stop money grind and there is very little fun or cozy about it. As for Singularity Six, they like to pose as a small, indie game developer when in fact they are a large corporate game maker with over 100 employees and more than $25 million behind them. But look around for any pictures of Singularity Six studio and you will see carefully composed images of 5 or 6 people and two computers. But everything they do is 100% corporate, like copyright strikes, or removing comments on RUclips that they don't like, rampant monetization, nerfing anything in the game that might allow players to make money. I am well over them.
I had no clue there was this much controversy regarding Palia. The first time I heard about it is when it was featured in a Nintendo Direct. I've been really enjoying it, but I can understand the frustrations of someone that's been following this game for much longer than I have. Really hope they include more of the content that they've promised soon
I’m an MMO player but I actually love this game. I just hope that they improve the giving gifts to villagers or gold being too hard to save to buy things
I dunno, so far I feel like the NPCs removed nearly all aspects of multiplayer. You can only buy from them, upgrade your tools from buying their recipes. No real trading or helping others achieve their goals. Plus their is only solo quests from the NPCs. I am ahead of my friend so we couldn't go looking for the rare ores or flow trees together. You're forced to level every skill to upgrade your tools and open NPC guilds. Wait. What? What about community guilds where someone's high skills can be utilized? Nope. I realized I can go play Skyrim in god mode with no carry limit, build multiple houses, get married and be a serf to a bunch of NPCs with tons of quests clogging up my quest log.
Sometimes i feel like i should not like the game, when i see all these (valid) critics. Since closed beta i am having a blast with this game. I feel very addicted and have always something to do - despite setting my own goals i always better from me then let it set by the game. Even though there many things i dont like too , like the shop issues with pricing and pets, i never had such big expectations. I was waiting for the game since the announcement, but i didnt follow upcoming things . Ive tried to not hypjng myself too much so i dont get disappointed. And i am still not.
You like what you like, nothing wrong with that. Even better if you know the criticism and accept that things could be better. There’s no reason to feel you shouldn’t like a game just because someone else says you shouldn’t.
I still believe they intended to make Palia a single player game with coop, and said F it, let's just call it MMO and instance everything so our servers can handle it. The game being HEAVY client-sided just remarks this theory.
You're killing it with your palia coverage. Everything you've said is spot on. And the "they weren't prepared to attract the MMO community" is crazy. They literally called palia an mmo, the first articles I heard about this game was how this game was an "mmo being made by ex-blizzard devs". They put the game is an mmo everywhere.
They even remarked it on the 1 hr presentation video, Palia is no MMO. At best it's a match maker (the game even mentions matches like if this was fortnite).
I think the ex-blizz people in the Dev team are showing themselves with the way they're doing things. Too bad for Palia cause it's got soo much potential. Unlike WOW though I don't have decades of history keeping me tied to it. I've already stopped playing like I used too just days ago. Palia is neither an MMO, nor is it cozy. I hope they can fix it, but I've been a WOW gamer too long to trust devs.
I am part of the "progress wipe" group. We havent been able to play since the 7th. Things have not gone well in terms of any solution or transparency about an ETA for a solution. Instead they offered that if we choose, we can have our character deleted and restart. Well, they did this to someone and did not unlock their account. it's been a week. So not only is all their progress officially wiped, but they STILL can't log on and play the game at all. It's not going well.... such a shame.
@Dokuji hey i left the discord because of the lazy bunches of devs.. the next ticket was closed whithout a message... so in this case i would NOT recommended to play this game.
Sadly, it's (Palia) gotten to be nothing but grind-y. I feel like a hamster stuck in a wheel with nothing to do but keep running, running, doing the same things in the same areas. Not the game that I thought it was growing to be.
Its a grindfest yep, everything is tied to gold and you can barely make it at first because everything costs so much. I'm making $30k from my farm, plus going hunting and stuff, and still havent unlocked all recipes, right now aiming for my 100k chest. Once thats done, then I will focus on getting all recipes, then idk, i think it's game over for me.
I was pretty hyped for Palia they call it in there Twitter profil a MMO so of course peoples think it is a MMO but there is not that much more that "share" a world with 20 peoples or so and take materials away from each other and the game is simple get big amounts of ingame money to unlock/get stuff and thats all
the amount of get rich quick videos for Palia is egregious, and clearly dont care about the long term health of the game and community and only on the short term gain they get by repeating the same few methods over and over and clearly just ripping other peoples content off
And the biggest problem i have with this way of minmaxing and contentcreation is the problem , that they encourage the player to do things in a "slowpaced cozy" game the exact opposite way. I mean, everybody can play as they want, but progressing to fast in the beginning to quit the game after achiving everything in 2 or 3 weeks is not the best thing to do imo.
I have been saying that the only reason they have it as an mmo and not a clietside server is to monetize it more. The only thing it being an "mmo" is doing is making people be competitive dick heads. We dont have neighborhoods, we cant farm together in any meaningful way, we cant decorate together, the only overworld content that really feels like a team event is cutting down flow trees which you have to do for literal hours just to make some of the endgame furniture not to mention what you need for some of the relationship quests. Its honestly a game with some real passion at its core that is being fucking ruined by corporate greed. Big surprise there.
I don't hate it, I like it and have had a lot of fun playing it, even though it's not quite what I expected. I just don't like some of the decisions the devs make, primarily in regards to monetization and communication, but the base game is good, there's nothing that can't be fixed, and that's *why* I am critical. If I didn't believe they could salvage this, I'd just move on, but I think they could, if they'd just listen (and communicate better). I think one of their biggest mistakes is labeling it a beta, because this acts and feels like early access, not a beta, and there's very different expectations tied to these terms. They also desperately need to release a roadmap, not just to show us what they're working on, but to also communicate the way they understand this "beta" and maybe fix expectations.
Main problem I see with Palia, playing it casually here and there, is that there's almost no communication or group activities in the game. Everyone just runs around like a solitary nutter doing their own thing. And fair enough, cuz there's not much to do that is group oriented. I could be wrong, I just hopped on for about an hour and one person said something in global chat. This kind of game has to have a strong social element, cuz the gameplay itself is rather barebones and basic. Not bad, just... this isn't a game with huge quest strings and lots of combat and other things to get people by. If all it's going to be is a Animal Crossing where people are logged in together, but never interacting... why have servers in the first place?
As an IT guy who has been on the Internet since the early 90s and have been part of development teams... it's fair to not have individual devs answering questions on social media. Especially during development where things are fluid. Devs may promise something that ends up not true, or say something won't be true when it eventually becomes so. Despite this need from gamers to bE pArT oF dEvElOpMeNt, trying to corral user opinions and please everybody is extremely difficult. The fanatics who are online 24/7 and always first to have questions in Discord, for instance, may not represent what an average gamer that Palia needs to attract, wants.
The worst part about Palia so far (on console specifically) is that "-" opens the map. That's fine. Pretty common. But in MOST games, hitting "-" again would close the map. In Palia though, THIS OPENS THE CASH SHOP. WTF. That's a major dark pattern...
(shake my head) What a shame! I'm starting to think these ex-devs were the un-needed and un-helpful fat of the company that got cut and not the talent that left due to moral and or creative differences the way Palia is being ran right now. What a let down. Sure it's still in beta but as a vet WoW player that song and dance is meaningless. So many times some shit comes up in beta and not fix or changed before official release and only ever addressed mid to late expansion causing bad blood between the game devs and players.....It's still in beta my ass!
People are shielding the game behind "it's beta" yeah and soon it will be released since I don't think switch accepts betas? I mean sure when it was alpha I'd still shield the game with "it's alpha", but now it's beta and it feels like alpha. I guess release will feel like beta then... Beta is supposed to be fine tuning the game, not creating and expanding systems, the systems should have been there on alpha, it's all mixed up now, like parties don't even have a point, whats the point of partying with someone if they still have to run behind you and hit the nodes to get anything, where are the neighbourhoods, where are the guilds, friend system is glitchy at best, housing is lacking a lot of functionality and is very limited, there's 2 races of animals you can hunt with 3 variations each. Hunting for resources is a competition against other players, chat systtem is horrible, cooking is not rewarding as a solo player and exploitable with a big community, there's literally no RP which is the community that could potentially stick to the game, customization of your character is super limited, there's no dye system but presets, and so much more....
i was chatting with a player who dose not work in palia and we chatting about fan art more animal's to hunt and more fish's so on and the one or more then one who they pick for winner and should get currency coin's and gold's
I don't know if I just read it wrong or not, but my friends and I were under the impression we'd be building Neighborhoods... just... whole ass neighborhoods anyone could wander into... OH! There it is. The line about neighborhoods. Not there. Being able to let friends build on your plot isn't it... ... Is it sad that, as I watch the player run around, I recognize all the areas, and what to expect to find there?
I think a lot of people "hate" the game because... well... it's not really a "game" when you get right down to it. There is kind of no story, no fighting or competitions - either PVP or PVE, no "end goal" that players are chasing. It's more like a "virtual hangout" than a "game" at its core. You can play dress-up with your character, then build and decorate your home and show it off for your friends. Then get together with a few friends to chat while you're distracting yourselves with menial sim tasks like chopping wood or fishing or mining or hunting. Then you take those ingredients home and spend more time hanging out while you do some cooking and crafting. All to unlock upgrades to your tools, or more decorations to your house. It's kind of like a digital "after school program" I think. But in that role, if that's what you want, I think it does it pretty well actually. The only thing really missing is in-game voice chat. You have to have Discord chat or something similar open while you play, in order to chat with your friends. As someone who doesn't have time for guilds or boss raids because I'm an adult with a REAL LIFE and a job, and as someone who HATES PVP SO SO SO MUCH because I don't have money to dump into pay-to-win shit, and I suck at PVP combat, and I don't have 95 hours per day to setup a bot to go levelup my character... I actually REALLY LIKE the idea of a "peaceful and chill" multiplayer game. A project-based game where you can work together with a few friends toward some simple goals without worrying about a damn monster horde every 10 minutes or being raided by a clan of asshole PKs definitely has a place in today's market. Maybe not the most popular thing on the market, maybe not exactly what the devs promised, but still I like the idea of it at least. I haven't personally had a chance to play yet, so I'm not sure what bugs are in there or what the finalized "monetization" will look like... but still, I like the idea of the thing.
Oml, ppl will complain over anything. I dont know if ppl just dont understand what beta means, or early access. The game is free to play for goodness sake. The whole "cash grab" thing is just ridiculous. Do you think the company, and employees will work for free? If ppl dont like the game, dont play it. Why would ppl choose to get obsessed over something they dont like, like honestly, just move on, get a hobby. Youll enjoy life when you learn to not surround yourself in so much hate, and negative emotions.
i been playing this for some days, bought all the land got a big house, it started pretty good but its getting boring and boring, do the same thing over and over, alot of people running around but you cant do nothing besides cooking lol , i feel the game got potential but the devs only want easy money. Tbh sometimes feels like im playing a phone game.
It was cute the first day or 2, then it transformed into a mobile cartoon, where everything is too close to everything and everything looks the same, it's hard to know where you are unless you constantly open the map. I love crafting but this became repetitive too. The social aspect is hypocritical. Just girls running around. The kindness it wants to promote is boycotted by NPC weird attitudes. It feels totally confused.
It is theoretically possible, they added the ability to shoot the bow while in the air in the last major patch. That said, doing a 360, pulling the bow, and shooting before hitting the ground is quite difficult in most places
Thanks for watching and understanding the point of the video. You clearly articulated well that S6's promises over the past 3 years mean nothing to you, nor does the studios word or actions mean anything, as that is what the entirety of this video was about. So I question, why are cozy gamers ok with being lied to?
I think y'all are just haters. I don't have any issues with Palia. Sure, it has some issues/glitches, but what game doesn't?! Too many people have WAY too much time on their hands to incessantly complain about a game in any/all forums/reddits, it's mostly just nit-picky whining. Too many people just whine and complain about EVERYTHING and are just miserable people in general. Sucks to be them. If you don't like Palia, don't play it...get over it and go touch grass.
Say you didnt watch the video without saying you didnt watch the video. Practically this entire video was about Singularity 6's communication and promises surrounding the game (over the past 2-3 years), none of which they have met. Can you visit friends house's when they're offline? Dynamic Weather? Neighborhoods with community activities and rewards? All things we were told would be in the game when playable, and all things mentioned in 2021.
They want people like you to get emotionally connected to the game enough to feel as though you're being personally attacked by any criticism of a game that has nothing to do with you. Passive consumers who are okay with being nickle and dimed, accepting the rising costs and increasing greed are the ones licking the boots of companies without even realizing. It's pathetic and it reads like mind worms that you're inviting into your brain. You're on the losing side, IE the CONSUMER side with the rest of us. Unless you're secretly one of the devs accounts, then checks out. Also this isn't like some low budget indie game. This is made by ex-Blizzard and ex-Riot devs with major funding behind them. It's not an indie title. It stinks of crashgrab.
i can tell you why i hate it The support cannot be described as such, on August 7th there was a massive error, where the complete progress was reset for some players.... 18 days later the error is still not fixed. The players are stalled, devs are hiding, promise to give updates but nothing (some of them have also invested real money), nobody cares. Tickets are closed without comment, if you ask for the char to be deleted so that you can start over, it can happen that the char is deleted but your account remains closed... Or they just don't do it, thank you for your patience and tell you to either create a new account or wait until they fix it, when that will happen... yeah, I have no idea I have no idea what they're up to, but it's pretty modest
Dude, this feels really nitpicky. If you actually played the game, then I bet you'd actually enjoy it. Sure the game is not perfect, it has its flaws - but say it with me folks - ITS IN BETA. People complaining about Palia are players that's really not the target market. Don't like it? Then just don't play it? Go download Skyrim again or something.
I actually played this game and guess what you fool I hated it There's nothing to do in this game There's never anybody around in the game I love how all you people are defending this game but every time I play this game there's no one ever in the game except for me You people are all supposedly playing this game and loving it but the game's always dead
I love how people have lists of complaints like they bought the game.. 😂 They are also crying about the cash shop like they're being forced to buy it..
If they do not let me obtain flowood solo. I AM OUT. And I mean A LOT OF IT. Me an 3 others worked on this for 3 hours, Cutting down trees, waiting for the respawns. AND AFTER 3 HOURS We got 2 yes 2 FLOWOOD. I am not doing that when I need thousands.
I don't hate Palia. But if the devs are going to be acting all shady then I'm not going to trust them either. I don't want to fall in love with a game that might not be around or goes the way of EA pricing in the Sims. I am willing to wait and see if they can do better.

a minute and a half in the video and the player gets stuck wall climbing, Bugia at its finest.
At this point I'd honestly rather play something like Stardew Valley or Len's Island.
I looked at the price of the "gifted" pets and bought Coral Island instead.
@@Vix_Vi Never heard of that before, but it looks really good. Thanks :)
MMO players don’t like it, but this is the cozy gamers’ time to shine, let us enjoy OUR MMO.

Thank you! Exactly! It is sad how so many people enjoy being hateful.
i been playing this for some days, bought all the land got a big house, it started pretty good but its getting boring and boring, do the same thing over and over, alot of people running around but you cant do nothing besides cooking lol , i feel the game got potential but the devs only want easy money. Tbh sometimes feels like im playing a phone game.
Spot on! It's honestly depressing what a blatant cash grab Palia has turned out to be.
said it in the last video doesnt feel like a mmrpg
Probably cause it's an mmo lifesim and not an mmorpg ಠ_ಠ
@@FunkyyCat_ its going to be funny how they going to make the mmo people not rush in to end game
@@FunkyyCat_life sim without the life sim. Can’t even interact with furniture or do anything besides gather and craft.
Why is the player doing that spin every jump?? Does it give any bonus to height or distance??
Thats a much longer story...
@@DoitiEtokNews LoL When can we expect that video.
Can you perform 360 no scope head shots, on the animals/hunting-targets?
It is theoretically possible, they added the ability to shoot the bow while in the air in the last major patch. That said, doing a 360, pulling the bow, and shooting before hitting the ground is quite difficult in most places
Not all of us hate palia this is for us cozy gamers let us play our game
Thanks for watching and understanding the point of the video. You clearly articulated well that S6's promises over the past 3 years mean nothing to you, nor does the studios word or actions mean anything, as that is what the entirety of this video was about. So I question, why are cozy gamers ok with being lied to?
@@DoitiEtokNews gamers have been lied to forever its not just the cozy gaming community
i hate palia because you can only play it on good PC, not on my old pc.
Its just not my type of game. My "cozy" game is something like Warframe or Destiny or Doom 😁
Palia isnt an MMO xD its just an MO, there only a few thousand not millions like WoW or others similar
i can tell you why i hate it
The support cannot be described as such, on August 7th there was a massive error, where the complete progress was reset for some players....
Or they just don't do it, thank you for your patience and tell you to either create a new account or wait until they fix it, when that will happen... yeah, I have no idea
I have no idea what they're up to, but it's pretty modest
Me just wanting more Sims competitors like Palia/Stardew/RUclipsrs Life, not because I want to kill EA but because I like variety: :3
I love how people have lists of complaints like they bought the game.. 😂 They are also crying about the cash shop like they're being forced to buy it..
It’s called feedback. 😂
