"Metroid Prime is a pretty long game, I can't imagine a 100% speed run is that fast!" -Speedrun finishes in the time it takes me to get to Phendara for the first time. "Oh, I just suck."
5:19 - Just landed on Tallon IV and you got Space Jump in less than 10 seconds. Holy shit! As a non-speedrunner (who does enjoy watching speedruns) I'm just baffled!
Last time I paid attention to Metroid Prime speedruns, 100% was in the 1:20 range...wow. Your scan-jump timing is awesome. On my best day, it still takes me at least 10 tries to nail that early space jump boot grab. Going to rewatch this and fire up the Gamecube. Awesome playthrough!
@@jackychang9148Speedrunning in Metroid is just something else, I remember when I used to watch Dread speed runners *religiously!* Edit: just to hammer in the point, when Metroid Dread first came out, it felt like speed runners were discovering different skips, strategies and other things *every hour,* for a whole *month.* I don’t even see myself attempting a run, I just watch because they’re either super funny or super relaxing.
Congrats! I remember the days when Kip's legendary 1:04 any% was considered nuts! And now it's only two minutes more for a 100% finish. 😳 Amazing work as always.
This is freaking INSANE! I had to double check that this wasn’t a TAS run. I thought I was hot stuff because I can beat the game in one day, and here you are DEMOLISHING it in almost an hour! Mad props dude, I can’t imagine how many hours of practice your poured into this run. Thanks for sharing your hard work! I hope you keep pushing it!
Meanwhile I’m playing it casually right now and it’s taken me almost 2 weeks with a guide (many breaks and life etc..) About to pick up last artifact and take on Ridley
it's such a stressful atmosphere down there, I never thought so much about which way I will take to avoid all these annoying pirates and metroids. I love backtracking games but at some point it was so annoying that they respawn each time I left the room. Hope it will be a bit less annoying in metroid 2 and 3
I find it funny that I've been watching all your MP stuff (and it's all great, btw) the last few days, then suddenly we get todays announcement. The timing is incredible
played this game for the first time since i was a teen and beat it in 15hrs with 71%, this was the first vid of a 100% speedrun that came up and wow i was hooked! incredible stuff thank you for posting!
Samus: *Enters the room, jumps down and disables all thermal visor barriers by the time she hits the ground* The turret in the background waiting for the cutscene to finish: Am i a joke to you?
Absolutamente impresionante. Enhorabuena :D
This video inspired me to practice some speedrunning tactics in this game, and there's nothing better than getting the Plasma Beam early and vaporizing all the annoying enemies you constantly have to encounter.
You can speedrun Metroid Prime 100% faster than I can speedrun Super Metroid 100%. This is INSANE. I know the Gamecube version has a lot of things that the Trilogy version patched up (I never had a Gamecube so my Metroid Prime experience has all been on Trilogy). But GOOD LORD. The way you play, the original game might as well be Super Mario 64!! I can't believe you SKIPPED the first half of the final boss. I mean, I can't believe MOST of this video, but that's especially hot.
Amazing run Justin! Good to see you still enjoying this game. I watched your GDQ run years ago and was so thrilled to see that a prime community existed
man i love this game. when it came out i remember playing it at walmart when they used to have systems there that you could play on. but didn't get to actually play it until like 2005 sometime. just watching through this is giving crazy nostalgia
What an amazing video. Makes me wish to replay Metroid Prime and apply many of these tricks x) [And by many of them, I mean not the out of bounds one. Pretty sure It's not as easy as this video enacted It Dx ]
Ridley: alright, now to set up shop on Tallon IV, mine the planet for phazon, and conquer the galaxy! *30 minutes later* Ridley: wtf?! I haven't even started yet! Well, at least Samus won't be able to fight me until she- *Samus immediately shows up fully upgraded* Ridley: how?! It hasn't even been an hour yet!!
Is the ghost trigger in the Furnace and Ruined Shrine RNG? I ask because I noticed they didn't appear for you. In one of my most recent playthroughs they never appeared in the Furnace but did appear in the Shrine.
Hey, quick question: was this run on the Wii or the Gamecube? I thought it was the remaster until I saw you clip through the floor (very cool btw, I mean no harm).
How could would it have been if the out of bounds intro meant you got to keep all the upgrades? Sure beats Samus losing them by getting booped on a damn wall.
It's probably the Metroid Prime exo boss out of bounds skip in terms of one wrong move will lose the run, and the way he got out of bounds was incredibly fast, I remember watching people take up to a minute or more just to get the metroid to hit them out of bounds. But I can't say for sure because I've never tried to run 100%.
No, he fucked up a trick in Chozo Ruins three times before getting it. To be fair, though, it looked pretty awkward. If it's not clear, I mean the room with the first save room you encounter in the Ruins.
I'm still blown away how good this game looks after 22 years
Same
22?

My first thought exactly
Game: "Missile Launcher Acquired!"
Samus: **already has over 110 missiles**
Game: 👁👄👁
Those Space Pirates watching her enter one room and leave another with all the upgrades must've been like "WHAT THE FUCK"
thats at 55:40 for any wondering lol

I like to imagine a real scenario where Samus is just this efficient and devastating. the entire chozo lore and battle for the planet took an hour

love this game, love speedruns, admire the execution/strategy. VERY well done. thanks for the entertainment

that is a stupidly good time @justin ,gratz tothis rediculous achievement, way underrated.

first time seeing a metroid speedrun but I'd imagine the way you fight the bosses could be lore acccurate.
This is truly taking advantage of glitching out of bounds lol
Nice run, was fun to watch. Could improve that time even more, if the damn doors would open! That always drove me nuts while playing.
took me over 10 hours to get 100% item in this.
This guy does it in little over 1!
To know exactly where the Omega Pirate would re emerge is insane!
Can someone explain how the final time is 1:06 when he was literally playing longer than that? Does it cut out loading time and cutscenes?
all the blind jumps are super impressive to me.

As a hard-core fan of halo, Pokémon, Zelda, COD, and porn.... idk how this game didn't win game of the decade.
Wow, this is phenominal
Superb run. 👏👏👏
how does the game figure out time? Does it just count when the player has control?
What's the most difficult part about this speedrun that he performed?
