"You have a heart of gold, don't let them take it from you! " Love the voice actors and I'm so pleased to hear they got another chance to perform there lines in the remake :)
The biggest surprise for me is the facial animations, they look incredible. It’s just awesome to see characters emote to compliment the great voice acting. I really hope FromSoft take note of that.
I'm somewhat torn on the soundtrack. It sounds great in its own right, but some of the minimalistic details of the original seem to be lost. Definitely felt a lack of musical laughter when I first saw the Tower Knight fight.
tbh i prefer the new Tower theme, original was grading and didn't really fit the boss and situation itself. it would've fit a Fat Official if they were a boss
Some tracks are very good, like the intro one for example, it follows more or less the same notes and pattern of the OG, but with more emotion and instruments added. Some other are just.....disappointing. Maiden Astraea, Maneaters and many others are completely butchered, some don't even hit the same notes and don't have strenght when it's needed. I'm overall disappointed by the OST tbh, I was expecting much, much better.
@@igornaimoli7321 i agree, i was looking forward to astraea’s theme but it just doesn’t have the same feeling as the original. It sounds good but doesn’t have that same emotion of despair.
@@just9019 The fat official sets up that encounter, so it makes complete sense. The original OST was awesome and it became iconic for a reason. It fit the boss and the situation perfectly. Also the word is "grating", not "grading".

I was expecting him, given his extensive experience with the series, to demolish it on his first try and I actually laughed when it wiped him out in two hits.
As a musician I'd consider the remastered soundtrack the superior composition. However, in terms of atmosphere, I think the original soundtrack is more appropriate and less obtrusive.
I'm so down that I can't play this right now. I don't know when I'm going to have the funds to purchase this, so i'm just glad I can vicariously enjoy the game through the community.
Unlike a normal souls release, playing it late isn't as much of an issue. There's not really new things to discover, it's just a very well done remake of demon souls.
Dark souls 2 to dark souls 3 has considerable graphic changes, but from ds3 to this remake there is such a massive improvement its actually crazy. Blue point is the best at remakes, I loved what they did to shadow of the colossus too.
While the remade boss music is pretty damn good on it's own, I can't say I prefer it over the Original as I feel it is more thematically suiting when you take into account that the original Demon's Souls boss music is really a variation of the same song (Such as the classic intro music). I also love how the old music tonally feels old fashion, like something you'd see from a early post-war monster movie. Those heavy drums were great!
That "body reclaimed" animation where it shows you as a kind of sinewy meat before putting you up as your corporeal self is a great touch. In the original, you knew you weren't a ghost when you weren't glowy, and that was it!
I swear, the original soundtrack of the game is super unique, non-generic, and fitting for the boss you are fighting. I have the melody of each and every boss music imprinted in my head
Ngl the soundtrack in the remake just gives me the feeling of dread and determination, not to mention it sounds amazing. The OG ost sounds almost like an old movie from 20th century, yet at the same time combined with the atmosphere and the look of the game back then it just fits so well together, 10 out of 10 both soundtracks (yes all of them).
I really prefer the old soundtrack. The new one sounds great, but more like a DS4 track (if such a game were to exist). The flatness of the old tracks really added to the atmosphere of the game.
Yeah, I feel like the original had more personality, the new one sounds more generic in my opinion. I'm yet to listen to the other tracks and I really think that many of the originals can benefit from a change but I'm actually a bit worried about themes like Astraea's or Allant's.
I agree but also disagree. The original sounds dull and it adds to the game atmosphere because the whole game looks and felt dull, from graphics, to lighting, animations, combat, sound effects. So it was right at home and complemented everything else. The remake is shinier, more fluid and the new sound track also sounds more fluid, so it also enhances the remake experience. The new soundtrack wouldn't work on the original and the original soundtrack wouldn't work in the remake.
? Its called having nostalgia glasses on. If ppl really think the "dull" sound is better than this new arranged remake sound then idk anymore... delusional.
@@mateusfolletto6142 The old soundtrack works better even in the remake though, new one is generic and not memorable at all. I could tell you each and every song name from demons souls from a 10 second snip, no way anyone can do that with the remake

I agree, but try to understand, people got mad that blueprint used a more colourful tone throughout the game, some got even angrier when they learned that blueprint re-orchestrated the soundtrack. Imagine what they would do if Bluepoint changed the boss design...
@@somethingwitty309 why should they listen to the minorities who advocate for an objectively worse product? When you collect the items like a normal person. Besides, in the original Demon's Souls, there were no item descriptions in the loading screens. There was just an image of one of the npc characters, like Ostrava, Patches, and Yurt. It was just a little bit better than the pre-patch Bloodborne loading screens.
First time listening to the Phalanx music and I gotta give it to the original, both are good, but it *is* called the "Phalanx Demon" after all and I feel the original had more of a military beat to it in the background, almost like a marching tune, you know?
It's a crazy leap in visuals and attention to detail, it genuinely looks fun. I think my only personal gripes are with how the HUD looks and no option for the original soundtrack, since personally I prefer the tone of that one more than the new one.
It's nice to see that you have an open mind to changes to this game. The amount of drama that some people seem to boast because of even the slightest changes is insane at the moment in my opinion. I think it's completely fine to dislike certain changes but so many people seem to go into this game with the mindset that any change is immediately bad, instead of just being a bit different.

The music, I would have to say that the new stuff is well put together. But I do prefer the old stuff, partly out of nostalgia, partly because the new stuff seems to be very quiet in clips of boss fights I've seen.
Okay, took some time to find some remake music videos, the new music is as I said well put together, but it lacks a sort of memorabilty or feeling that the old soundtrack has. Best examples for this are the Tower Knight and Astrea themes.

Bloodborne: Gothic, celestial horror set in a Victorian era aesthetic. Dark Souls: Unforgiving, dark fantasy set in the ends of the world. Demon’s Souls: Classic high fantasy, magical elements set in a more traditional medieval fantasy aesthetic.
The new version of the soundtrack does sound a bit overly bombastic at the start, but the main part of the track has an amazing sense of nuanced flow and rhythm that makes the original sound extremely stiff and stilted to me.
@@711_skiddlz but see now you’re getting to the root of the problem. demons souls doesn’t have the best gameplay of the from soft games, doesn’t have the most polished mechanics or the most dynamic boss fights, but what it does have is the best atmosphere, the best vibe, that’s why demons souls has remained such a timeless game and is many fans favourite. by keeping all the gameplay aspects the same but changing the entire atmosphere, music included, the remake kind of misses the mark entirely and loses what makes demons souls so special in the first place, atleast that’s what some fans think. the remake is so faithful to the original but not in the ways that are most important to what made demons souls so unique compared to other from games
Please make a video on all the different spells / miracles! They must look amazing now with all the the cool lighting effects. Love the video keep em coming!
@Yurt El Jefe Silencioso yes well demon’s souls also wasn’t “supposed” to be in 4k and have facial animations but I think we can all agree that those were improvements. Just because it’s different doesn’t automatically make it bad. And besides, now we have two soundtracks instead of one, and I’m pretty sure more souls music in the world is a net positive.
@Yurt El Jefe Silencioso This isn't demon's souls, this is demon's souls remake. It can't detract from the original vision because it's a different game. Bluepoint has their own "original vision." Whether it's better or worse is a different argument, but it doesn't affect the original game in any way.
@Yurt El Jefe Silencioso different =/= bad This is a remake not a remaster. If people wanted to play OG Demon Souls they should play that instead. Im sick and tired of lazy remasters that change nothing
What annoys me more than anything is the composer saying he wanted the soundtrack to be fresh while remaining very faithful to the original composers intentions, he has done no such thing. Flamelurker has got to be one of the worst examples.
I love that this tone you talk with is not a bit, it's literally your tone 100% of the time no matter what the topic is. This is not sarcastic I actually love it.
Did not expect that track to be completely different wow The original gives me those good old Zelda + berserk vibes, while the new one is contemporary souls game. Personal preference is the first one
So far from what I've heard of the soundtrack I definitely prefer the original, maybe it's just nostalgia idk also I'm not really a fan of the UI, those HP bars look really bland and generic to me and I don't like that the pause menu covers the entire screen giving you no idea what's going on in game.... But other than that (and the deluxe/pre order crap) the game looks really awesome, and it's a shame I don't have a ps5 to play it
In regards to the music I feel the new version is not 'better' more that it allows us the full flavor of the music that was meant to be there. Like there was probably size limitations that stopped them from going full into it. Something that is no longer the case and was allowed to be put in. They're both a pleasure to listen to. Also 'Awwwww your animated closing animation is adorable! Did you commission that? Was it a gift? Its cute!'
Boss Music Remake or OST? (DS1 Character select theme starts playing at end of video) Me: Dark Souls 1 Character select music also, hopefully someone makes a 10 loop of that using the entire song, with the visuals and the additional audio sfx. It's rather...soothing
Awesome video! I love the photograph contest, sadly not all of us will be able to get PS5 with demon souls remastered that fast.. :( I can't wait though looks godlike
The new soundtrack is a lot denser and better conveys a sense of threat with all the rumbling drums. But the original feels sadder, the mournful trumpets sound like a dying corrupted military triumph which suits the tone of the boss better.
yea, i was thinking the remake ST sounds more theatric and bombastic, but doesn't have the nuance and uniqueness of the original. I don't think saying "what, you want crappy midi horns in there, asshole?" is being fair to the original. I geniunely think they could've done a better job upgrading the sonic fidelity without compromising the spirit of the original.
@@TrooperManaic this isn't news to anyone at this point. Not gonna stop people from wanting it though. Besides, it wouldn't be the first exclusive to get on PC.

Atstrea theme is definetely worse, but they incredibly manage to save thise shitty Leechmonger and Phalanx theme

If ppl really think the "dull" sound is better than this new arranged remake sound then idk anymore... delusional.

Looks and sounds beautiful....and the games not bad either
Most people: These load times are so fast, it’s amazing.
Me: Wait faster load times? When am I going to read item descriptions?!

But just take a look at the "most helpful" user revies on metacritic. Probably all done by people that haven't played the remake but can't stand the fact that Bluepoint made any creative choices for their own regarding the game.

@Yurt El Jefe Silencioso yes well demon’s souls also wasn’t “supposed” to be in 4k and have facial animations but I think we can all agree that those were improvements. @Yurt El Jefe Silencioso This isn't demon's souls, this is demon's souls remake. It can't detract from the original vision because it's a different game. Bluepoint has their own "original vision."
