    Today we are reviving this 1979 Ford F150 that's been forgotten in a fellas back yard for years. Story goes he went to start it one day and the battery was dead so he just abandoned it where it sat. I saw it pop up on Facebook Marketplace and just could resist. It's a well equipped truck with power steering, power brakes, A/C and cruise control. Under the hood we have a desirable 351 modified V8 engine with an auto transmission. Will it run and drive? Tune in and see!

    DUDE. Instant subscriber here.. haha. I pulled my great uncle's 77 F150 Custom out of the hay shed and I'm taking it under my wing. It's a 2WD copper metallic with some rust on the rear fenders .. ANYWHO.. It's awesome seeing a video of someone else bringing a 351m back to life as I did! So far 2 brake lines installed.. master cylinder and water pump just arrived.
    I also had to research the 351m.. basically it's a de-stroked 400 and I've heard it described as a "tall deck Cleveland".. All the parts are the same except the pistons and crankshaft.
    Great video, man!.. and hello from Pine City, Mn.

    Maybe you should get hooked up with Sleeperdude, Ralphie drools over Rangers.Sleeperdude has a huge channel that is growing and that could get you in the spotlight. It might be fun to drop it on their front lawn with the keys in it.

    Beautiful. Looks ready to be dropped off at my house. It hurt my feelings you didn’t immediately change out that fuel filter and change the oil the first time it barked off, but everyone does things differently lol. I’m in negotiations for a ‘79 4x4 with a 351 right now that has some killer patina I’m going to clear coat over.

    Classic old girl, just put brake lines on the Bronco today, realized i installed wrong passenger front caliper when i put it together few years back. got plenty of spare parts, Ie... Engine, trans, steering column, new replacement rockers inner/out driver side floor pan, front cab mounts, rear cab frame mounts. in other words, first truck was a failure, 2nd one was much better, and spare p205 transfer case. Very Nice. Wessley tire bleach coat wax look like new truck

    I would have thought that the last thing to test before even attempting a start would be seeing if the lights work which would without doubt run the battery down a little, seems a very dumb thing to do.

      It's actually a great way to get an idea of the integrity of the electrical system before you apply starting amps. Plus it's fun to see what all still works after so long. Battery depletion is extremely minimal. Thanks for watching!

    that truck has rot in places ive never seen before
    the rot in the door jambs is structural
    my suggestion is to not repair it just replace the cab
    if you decide to move ahead without replacing the cab weld in parts from another jamb and reinforce the cab with a roll cage rember theres always rust you cant see if you cant see it you cant make a determination on the severity of the rust

    • @MyLegacyGarage
      @MyLegacyGarage  9 месяцев назад +1

    I had one. Maryland truck. Rusted the same but not as bad as that one. The funny thing is the cowl panel in front of windshield is galvanized. It never rusted but then why would it even if it wasn't galvanized? Obviously they needed to galvanize other parts. The rain drip moldings rusted and I cut them off and welded up seam. The rear body mounts rusted but the fronts didn't as bad. The rear of the cab sank so I had to improvise a fix for that. It was full of bondo when I got done. I kept it for years and then in 1996 began to restore it and gave up. I sold all the parts and cut the frame up and scraped it. I got about $4000 from parts. Only Ford I ever owned. GM and Dodge guy. Good luck with that POS.
