Making a Leather Snap Wallet with Cutting Dies.
In some of our production work, we use cutting dies to make our leather pieces. These dies cut out the exact shapes we need quickly and efficiently, and ensure a uniform end product for our wallets. They also allow us to spend the time hand sewing and finishing all of our pieces by hand, which is the best way to ensure a strong product that lasts a super long time!
This almost felt meditative! Thanks.
It be nice if you would make a video of the whole order process. Like receiving the order , making it, packaging it, driving to the post office and sending it.
Thanks! I'll get into how we run the business later on, but almost all of the business stuff is automated - we do not receive the order at the shop, pack it, or ship it. All we do is make our product and pack it up, send it to our fulfillment center, and they handle the shipping for us. It saves a ton of time for us, money for the customer, and allows us to spend 100% of the time on production!
love this, dies making thing easy. I would love me some of them..
efforts, dedication , artist mind and hands. I love it.
thanks.
love from India.
I like your job! I wish you success in your work and in life! Like from AZE 🇦🇿
First time I see a screw in snap button
love your work, some even repeated
Love all your videos. Quick question. What’s your hole spacing? I’m trying to have my own designs in steel rule die, however my hole spacing is too close together.
Is that a 4 Ton Clicker Press you were using from Weaver Leather? If so how do you like it for making small leather goods? Do you find yourself using it more and more since you have it in your shop now? Have you found any other uses for it besides cutting dies?
Готовые фирмы для пресса, это прекрасно. Отличное изменение
Leather in the UK is hideously expensive so I am sticking to small stuff atm!

what is the length between two stitching holes
Amo ver tus vídeos me enamoran tus creaciones muchos 💏 😘 😘 desde Colombia
Where did you have your dies made? I'm assuming the dies are pretty expensive? Also, about how long does it take you to make one wallet from start to finish?
We use a few different die makers - Weaver Leather has a die program a lot of folks use. Ours have the stitch holes in them, so a full set used to make a wallet like this would range from $4,000 to $8,000. Each individual stitch hole is about $8-10, this set has over 500 stitch holes in it. Not sure on time, we usually make batches!
Oh wow that is a lot more than I expected. I'm in the middle of a startup and was doing some research on weaver, but haven't contacted them yet. I guess I will have to stick to cutting them out myself and punching my own stitch holes (for now). Would you happen to have any advice on a good leather supplier with decent prices? I'm waiting on my wholesale/resale license to get approved before I make contact with anyone.
It's a big investment - it's taken me 10 years to build our library of dies and we only have a dozen or so silhouettes, there aren't many other folks that do it the way we do besides the kit companies.
We only deal directly with US tanneries and don't really care about cost as long as we get the best quality we can find, so I'm not much help on cheap leather distributors. I'd just say do your market research before trying to get into the industry. Find an under serviced niche and make something they need. I started Corter because there wasn't a single US-made hand stitched bifold wallet available online...ten years later there are thousands.
Corter Leather I don’t suppose you disclose paper templates of your wallets to the public?
Who makes your die cut blade?
Bravo
Bien lo tuyo Tulio! .
muy buen video me gusta y me suscribo para poder seguir viendo un saludo desde Barcelona
Какую кожу используете? И толщина кожи. Спасибо
I'd love to see something made of the blue leather you offer.
we can do that! I'll make a note of it :)
Nice work... Where do you have your dies made? Are they your design? Thanks
Thanks! We use a variety of different die makers, from places like Weaver to Amish makers we have to write letters to for business. Everything we do is our original design, we design most of our hardware and do batches of brass casting, we also design and run our own tannages from time to time :)
Lindo trabalho
