Thomas Marriott Talks New Album ScreenTime, Cinema, Jazz, and the Intersection of Both.

Released last month via Imani Records, trumpeter Thomas Marriott's new album, ScreenTime takes a collection of songs and scores from film and television and reimagines them in the jazz vernacular. With songs "both familiar and obscure, energetic and contemplative, original and well-loved, and always engaging," Marriott and his band explore music from Reading Rainbow, Predator, and Sing Me A Love Song, among other disparate sources. We spoke with trumpeter Marriott about cinema, jazz, and the intersection of both.
