    Got one of each of these guys brush sets. The wolf are decent set of cheaper brushes like you said, I use them for my metallic, washes and contrasts. Their Sables are nice, but find I have to mold them back into points more often then some of my other high end brushes, i.e. Windsor Newton/Artist Opus. The real winner from these guys is their Dry Brush set, good selection of round and flat dry brushes, great quality and not all that expensive, would highly recommend, and would 100% love to see another video like this about them.

      I haven’t seen the drybrush set yet, not sure how I missed it when I picked this set up as looking online the shop does stock it, it’s not a technique I use all that often so it could be a bit of fun to grab a set as I find when you buy new equipment for any hobby it makes you want to use it!

    The Astro Furries, I mean space wolves would love these! 😅
    If I see any of these available as singles I’ll definitely give them a go, but I’ll be honest, I have my doubts. Happy to be wrong though, always great to see new ideas.
    Great video as always dude! 😁❤️👍🏻

      For the price they are good and I’ve had nice results with them but I do question the longevity and the hooked tips thing is weird on a natural brush. Im also having a funny compulsion to howl whilst painting lately 🐺 😂

    These brushes are great, to a point, I find they dont hold the sharpest point and I am often reshaping the tips. But if you want something that isnt 10X as expensive these are an absolute steal.

      Looking through all the comments it’s clear everyone has the same issues with the points, constant brush care needed!

    I bought a set of these and not entirely sold on them yet. The larger size 7 is super floppy and I am not sure what to do with it other than washes.
    I started with the 3 and had to drop down to the 2 quickly.
    Two of the ones I pulled out have random long hairs that need to be trimmed.
    The size 0 has a blunter tip and seems to function fine.
    The handles are super nice looking, and I feel like more of the cost went into the handles than the bristles.

      Sounds like we had similar issues with loose/strange hairs. I’m going to keep using them but I’m really not sure on their longevity, can’t argue with the price though.

    I purchased the Sable set, the wolf set was sold out. They look incredible. Hope they work as well as they look.

      If these last well and I keep enjoying them I could well see myself picking up a sable set. Enjoying the wolf so far, just the little niggles mentioned.

    I've had these since the KS, and I can't get into because of the mess the bristles come in and the work it takes to maintain them. Great price, especially since I got like 20 for under $70cad as I recal, but i wouldn't go out to buy them. Handles are nice though

    • @adamshobbystuff
      @adamshobbystuff  6 месяцев назад

      You certainly can’t fault the price of the brushes, I’m getting good results so far, not 100% sure on what the longevity will be though.

    • @thehiddenheretic
      @thehiddenheretic 6 месяцев назад +1

      @adamshobbystuff price is definitely decent, but as others have mentioned some of the larger ones like I believe it's 7 are basically useless other than for a wash and even then only if you bare doing an all over wash. Definitely a mixed bag (tube? It comes in both haha) as far as my opinion on them, but they are serviceable and worst case cost me very littlenif I just run them into the ground.

    Crazy question but do they have a smell? I accidentally got a whiff of my dry brushes recently and that’s how I realized it’s goat hair.

    • @adamshobbystuff
      @adamshobbystuff  6 месяцев назад +2

      Well that’s a new hobby experience, I have smelled a brush for the first time and I can confirm they don’t smell of anything in particular that I can detect!

    I backed these on KS ages ago, along with their sables. The set I got were very mixed, half were straight up terrible and the other half were ok to use. I'm not going to go back to get more.

      Production quality seems to be a consistent piece of feedback about these brushes, such a shame as when they are built well they are good value.

  • @Chungusola

    Goblin Games were selling a product like this at Adepticon this year. 6 brushes for 80$, but when I was handed a set they looked like they were good quality. Not saying the quality is as good as Artis Opus for the same price, but could be a good inclusion into the brush range.

    • @adamshobbystuff

      There seems to be a lot of places releasing/selling brush sets, good to have the variety and the competition should drive up standards/down prices.

    • @Chungusola
      @Chungusola 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@adamshobbystuff hopefully that's the case! I was hesitant on buying a set of Wolf Hair brushes at that price point. Like the set in the video, it seemed like the majority of quality went into the handle. Not complaining on that end. Comfortability is a big factor as well.

      @@adamshobbystuff Problem is that these creators arent making the brushes. Your just paying for a mark up and a logo put on there by actual manufacturers.

      Absolutely true, it’s knowing/finding out the initial producer that’s the key.

    Regarding those artis opus brushes, Rosemary & Co's series 33 sables are basically the same brush and about a third cheaper. They're my go-to; AO never impressed me for the price.

    I have both sable and wolf set, I only use them for basecoats since the hook show up after few sessions of painting even with proper care. My suspicion is that these brush are mix of synthetic and low quality hair. I definitely will not pay for these nor recommend it.

    • @adamshobbystuff

      I think your right about them having some form of synthetic content, my brushes are holding up but are taking a lot more brush care than is normal.

      Interesting, I’ve searched through the website and they don’t make that obvious at all, would explain the slight hooking at the tips, a common thing with synthetics.

    I bought the wolf set and have been using them for a while. I think they're terrible, terrible brushes! The points curl up within literal hours and can't be fixed.

    • @adamshobbystuff
      @adamshobbystuff  6 месяцев назад

      I’ve definitely experienced the hooking at the end as I showed in the video, I clean my brushes a lot during painting and bring to a point following that every time so that may be keeping the problem down a bit for me, so far (7 weeks now) they are still working well for me though with the problems I spoke about. Their quality control seems to be an issue so maybe your batch is worse than mine.

      Unfortunately this is reflective of my experience as well had my set since 2022.
      They have been relegated to terrain work and washes as I'm constantly fighting to reform the tips for any sort of accurate miniature work.
      Bit of a shame the handles, packaging etc is on the right path but that can't make up for the core issue around tip retention.
