QALA... there's a lot to be said about this movie; from Anvita Dutt Guptan directing, to Tripti's stand-out performance. However, this movie would fall short if it wasn't for such an outstanding musical score and track list from Amit Trivedi.

I noticed it. In the beginning the mother was disappointed her son died. She wants a son to follow her husband’s legacy not a daughter. I think the movie implies what you are talking about. The movie show misogyny in general. Like when the doctor chalked up her pain to it being her time of the month (period). He didn’t take her seriously at all. These are the ones that come from the top of my head. I’m sure there’s more. But the main focus of the movie is definitely about mental health.

One point where the movie was wrong, they kept showing she took Jagan's success, I know it was mostly her mind but her mom and that director also said that. But just think about it, she didn't take anyone else's success, she just took her's back.
Her mother was preparing her for her father's legacy, she went to show her off but found jagan there. After meeting Jagan her mother just stopped mothering her daughter. If Jagan was not there she would be planning her launch with that director.
She was wrong to poison him though, if she would consider him really his brother and kept practicing singing with him maybe even after her marriage she would get a chance because of her brother or because of her, who knows.
If you have read the comment till here then answer a question. What if Jagan hadn't switched himself off, would the mother still love him? She got him because he could sing then he couldn't but we see her hugging his body but that is for Qala as well after her death.

React on "Katyar Kaljat Ghusali" movie. It is a famous Marathi movie , enacted by many great actors and singers(Singers: Shankar Mahadevan, Rahul Deshpande, Shivam Mahadevan & Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki, Arijit Singh, Arshad Muhammad, Divya Kumar & Mahesh Kale).
Its title means a dagger has pierced the heart.
The title is derived from the storyline, in which a king declares a singing competition, in which the winner will get a dagger with which he can kill one person without getting punished for it.
The rest of the story is about the rivalry between two musicians, one of whom is a kind and generous person, while the other is consumed by jealosy. At the end, the latter is won over by the goodness of the former.

Also i feel like this needs to be mentioned, don't judge the bollywood movies earlier than 2010s by their trailers, trailers were not popular back then in gact most of the 2000s movies have the trailers which were made much later after the film releases and everything. they were not of importance.

The song where you mentioned Amit Trivedi to give credit to the amazing composition "Udd Jaayega Hans Akela" (literal translation: The Swan Will Take Flight Alone; figurative translation: The Soul Traverses Alone) is actually the ONLY song in the entire album that's not composed by him. It is a poem written by a 15th century poet named "Kabir" alias "Sant Kabir Das" (most popular for "Kabir Das ke Dohe" aka "Couplets of Kabir Das") which was first immortalized as a devotional song by Pandit Kumar Gandharva (1924-1992). And now, this version of the same was composed by Sagar Desai and not Amit Trivedi.
Also, one thing that I feel you should know is that in Kabir's writings he used to mention his name in the third person to depict that he is saying or doing or feeling something without it being an actual sentence. Only the mention of his name (single word) would represent "Kabira says". That is why you heard his name in the beginning of the song "Nirbhau Nirvair" before the beat comes in where the song talks about death. It is also inspired by his writings.

For me this is one of the best movie of this decade. It's perfect in all senses be it the story, the performances , the music, the lyrics, the cinematography, the message, the reflection of the Indian society ,everything. It might be overrated or negative for those people who are not much into the dark and musical themes, and think everything should be goody-goody. But this movie hits you hard with the ground reality of our society. I feel it's way too artistic for some people that they couldn't get the movie properly. Nevermind, that's their opinion. But being a girl I feel this movie is hard hitting for me and I can go on and on but I will stop here by saying that it was an amazing experience watching you guys react to this movie. We need more of such reactors who pay attention to our movies and try to understand our culture. Great reaction guys! 👍
