Huge respect to these service men and women doing jobs that sometimes cost them their lives or limbs. Jobs that not many want to do. They do it so that most of us can live in peace.
Are we living in peace? Is Afghanistan thankfull or at least peacefull? Will the Taliban's Afghanistan be a safe haven for extremists who will launch attacks on the US? 20 years and countless lives wasted and nobody wants to admit it out of respect to soldiers. I respect soldiers, not the politicians who make the game plans.
God bless our allies especially the UK....They fight right along the side with us. The USA will never forget the UK sacrifices in keeping peace throughout Afghanistan.
So interesting watching this after leaving Afghanistan to the Taliban. All these brave words and deeds. Goes to show what you can do with a few IEDs and the will to keep on fighting. Doesn't matter how many Apaches and logistics convoys if the mission is wrong.
He was a great man and my friend from the day we joined the same plt in the 80s. I believe he was the longest serving soldier to lose his life in Afghanistan. He did leave behind his wife and 2 girls as well as many soldiers who loved and respected him. He gave me my nick name that i use on here now to this day.
@ 1:16 what does the narrator say? The Road Warriors hit them Marda? What does that mean? Never heard that word used before is it British or something?
Good videos! Sad about Lance Corporal John McLaughlin was apparently killed later on in his service to his country. At 33 (according to narration), I was surprised that he was only a Lance Cpl. Compared to others with higher rank, including one Sgt. Major I saw, he seemed awful old for such low rank. I wonder if making rank, even the rank structure itself, in the British Army is much different than here in the USA. I thought Cpl. McLaughlin, like myself, might have been a bit of a bit of a trouble maker, which would explain a seeming relatively low rank to his age. Or maybe he signed up for service at an older age, like me
Promotions in commonwealth armies can be slower. We don't do 'up or out' so you have people who for whatever reason remain at lower ranks for their entiore careers. Whether they're a troublemaker, they jt like being in the field or don't want to be an NCO.
I love you gays. You rescued my village from Taliban and God willing they won't return. I'm in the Afghan National Army and it was a pleasure to serve with you gays.
@@paulmcdonough1093 Paul, Of course US and UK made a lot of contribution by providing security to the local people and providing medical facilities and building infrastructures were the country can move peacefully.
Is "You should have thought about going to the bathroom before you left!" a British thing too? Because if it is, I would get that yelled at me a lot if I were part of this convoy.
You’d think by now, they’d have remote controlled metal detectors. So it’s done from a distant and safe position and casualties would be a thing of the past when checking for IEDs in hot spots like these with constant threats of a surprise ambush.
@@zesty1285 one would definitely hope so, cause this would make a logistic transfer mission a whole less time-consuming, less time spent stagnant on the road in those hotspot means less lives and money lost.
I suspect any remote controlled detectors would be susceptible to sand and dirt damage and possible break downs, that stuff gets into every place you can imagine and constant maintenance would be a huge time sink. As much as it suck, people are still the most reliable in a situation like this
One programme featured a British RLC lorry that had crashed into an irrigation canal and was left overnight before they could recover it. 4 young soldiers including 1 female, who were not front line Infantry troops were ordered to form a defensive ring around the truck, miles from the British base and armed with just L-85 assault rifles, overnight in the darkness, hidden in the foliage on the canal bank, they were trained as HGV drivers and mechanics and were not trained or experienced in close quarter combat, especially at night. As the sun rose in the morning, the Taliban had discovered the location of a stranded British lorry in a irrigation canal and were seen approaching the position of the lorry and even though the 4 soldiers were safe and the lorry was recovered, it was a very dangerous situation. I think that the documentary series might be called "The Road Warriors" but I might be wrong about that. Either way its well worth watching on RUclips. Edit: it's series 1/episode 1 of Road Warriors (S1/Ep1).
1 Quick Question at the 2nd stop @ 13:00 if there’s a bomb or trap on the road ??? How those big private civilian trucks passing by the army convoy ?? Just wondering?? How those cargo or civilian big rigs are passing by army convoy they just keep going ?? They didn’t stop only army convoy stopped !!
Most of the 'booby-traps' were set off by hidden observers using either a wire or radio/mobile phone signal. So they don't hit 💥 when a civilian truck goes by only a military one.
