I remember a nursery rhyme my mom, who was from Friesland taught me and one line mentions this bread. I can't wait to make it. Her sister coming to visit me in 2 weeks and I'm going to surprise her with this!! I can't wait.
Hoi.
This looks heel lekker! We had a Dutch baker in town when I was younger who made a suikerbrood very much like this with the wonderful gooey areas throughout. I’ve been looking for the recipe for a long time, but there always seemed to be a secret ingredient missing. No others I’ve seen include the ginger syrup and the pearl sugar (and cardboard loaf pans) seems to be a great idea too. I’ve been keeping back a package of raw sugar cubes that I plan to crack into pieces…Trying this recipe will be a great project for this time of year! Thanks, Toine! Wishing you and yours prettige kerstdagen en gezond nieuwjaar!
Hello! Do you knead the dough, or when you say “come together into a smooth ball” do you just mean to mix the ingredients until you have a cohesive dough? Loving the smell of this already as I mix it! Thanks for sharing your recipe :)

I let the dough hook knead it, until a smooth dough forms.
And, I *love* the smell when mixing the dough!
Can I make this bread and then freeze it, or will the syrup on the bottom of the loaf creating a soggy crust? Can’t wait to try your recipe. Thanks!
You can definitely freeze it… just make sure it’s in an airtight bag/container!!
Ok, my supplies are ordered, now I wait. I am unfamiliar with pearl sugar. Does it crush when you roll it out?
Some pieces will, a little bit, but that’s fine.
Hello. Could you list the ingredients in cups, teaspoons, etc? I'm not sure how to convert from grams... Thank you.
My website has them in both measurements: www.toineskitchen.com/recipes/suikerbrood
@@ToinesKitchen thank you!
kan het kloppen dat je fahrenheit bedoelt inplaats van graden?
Lekker Beppe!
