    Great Upload...Popped my MCL twenty five years ago... and the knee blew up had MRI and Ultrasound and arthroscopic examination and some rattling around of instruments, the knee kept blowing up and the joint drained and shot with steroids, large muscle wasting of my Quad, never resolved and had an unstable leg , the the other knee kicked off and same procedures on same, the upshot was i was in a bad way, then i slipped on gravel slope the left leg popped an saw same went in a near Horizontal position and it popped back...I knew i was in trouble got special standing Lateral Pre consultation X Rays and met the Consultant... he asked me how i was, and i said Sore, i told hime i had parked the car a half mile away from the rooms, he told me i had a Hair line Fracture across my Tibia Plateau and a Grade 2 tear of my MCL... the upshot was Hinged Brace , two crutches and twelve Weeks on same, In the review everything had healed up, and i have Zero excess fluid in either Knee ...that was five years ago, had i got the right treatment back twenty five years ago, i would have been sorted, but at least i got same, so i'm thankful to be back to Normal ... wish i had met a similar specialist like your good self, but i'm just lucky i met a good specialist five years back...

    an important area to differentiate.
    keep in mind a meniscal contusion/tear can accompany a MCL sprain. so it's often not an either/or issue.

It's be 9 months now and it's still bothering me and ai had an xray did not see anything but when they did MRI they saw something. I will be seeing an orthopedic doctor hopefully soon. Good morning... so this Valgus test, are you supposed to have that little bit of play when you go outwards with it??? I play soccer, and a couple of days ago in a game, I attempted to make a long pass by using the inside of my right foot, but an opposing player stuck his foot in there just in time to block my pass. It was a pretty forceful block. Had to walk off the field within a couple of minutes due to the discomfort. In like 30 minutes or so, I could already tell that it got swollen. I am able to bend my knee to like a 15-20 degree angle, but If I try to go further, I begin to feel like my knee wants to lock up from the inside. All of my pain is from the inside of my right knee. I can extend just fine. I haven't tried to see if I can flex my quad muscle. Just trying to determine if its something serious or not. I have been icing on and off. What do you think Doc???

    • @OrthoEvalPal
      @OrthoEvalPal  Год назад

      You should go have it checked. You could have a piece of meniscus locked in your knee not allowing you to bend it. A good orthopedic assessment will send you in the right direction

    I dislocated my kneecap (towards the outside of my knee) in ballet just over a month ago. My orthopedic surgeon diagnosed me with a slight tear of the MCL. It does still hurt along the MCL when I try and bend my knee all the way, and I also still get a pinch just below my kneecap when I try and use my muscles to straighten my leg fully (sitting with my leg straightened in front of me, for example, is painless). Is this normal or something I should mention to my physical therapist? Thanks!!

    • @OrthoEvalPal

    What is the rationale behind locking the knee in 20-30 degree flexion? Would this not increase risk for extension lag if worn for a few weeks ?

    • @OrthoEvalPal
      @OrthoEvalPal  3 года назад +2

      The medial structures can scar down in that position. When in full extension, the MCL and capsule are being stretched and therefore will heal in a stretched position leaving it unstable. Deal with the extensor lag later.
