I’m learning this piece at the moment, so playing it bit by bit hundreds of times, and I was worried that I’d “overplay” it and like it less than before. It’s a measure of Bach’s genius that I actually love it more now.
Thank you so much for your videos. I've started playing the cello 2 years ago and I'm currently working the 1st bourrée so this is really helpful :) and even though I'll never play as good it's encouraging
I love this video, I used your phrasing to polish my Bourree (violin version) for my Book 3 Suzuki graduation (I am studying violin alongside my 14 year old daughter now for 8 years) , my teacher even said that she was impressed with my phrasing, that she could see the arcs and conversations in my playing. I had never received such a glowing review of my performances before so I felt your instructions were the spark behind my playing. Thank you so much for sharing.....you are a jem! :)
Thank you for amazing videos! Would there be sheet music of Bouree(s) with your notes and bowings available to download somewhere? Thank you for helping us to improve and get more from music we love to play! All best!
Hello Jan! thanks for your note, I should really post all of my scores on my website but for now there are only a few of the movements there, under "Bach Project" so please give it a look. www.inbalsegev.com. The point of my musings is to encourage my students to figure out their own slurs and fingerings as we are all different players. A starting point would be to go to imslp and download the Anna Magdalena copies. Enjoy!
I love this video so much! Do you have any suggestions for shifting/changing positions throughout these two pieces? I'm having a lot of trouble determining when to shift higher. Would appreciate any advice, thank you for the lovely video!
Awesome video! This bourée has always been one of my favorites in the Bach cello suites! Just wondering, are you ever going to cover the Haydn cello concertos?
is it possible to play the piece at an intermediate cello level? It would be my first bach suite part, is it too early? are there other parts I should try first of the suites?
Hi UnlimitedSky (love your pen name) yes absolutely, the Bourees from the 3rd suite are suitable for an intermediate level. My son played the first Bouree when he just started(on viola). You can also try the first minuet from the first suite and the first suite prelude soon after that. Good luck! Inbal
I wish the teacher had played the entire pieces from the beginning to the end. Casals and Rostropovich were in their sixties before they dared recording the six cello suites. I have my doubts about their apprehension by a young musician brought up in a world where asserting one's EGO (musical or else) is the people's main concern.
Hello Curatica C, . Thanks for watching. For the complete cello suites recording please go to www.amazon.com/Six-Cello-Suites-Inbal-Segev/dp/B013R4QE3M
I love how you present these Bach Suite demonstrations/explanations with the color coded manuscript on the screen. They are so educational. Thank you!
MusicaAngela and very beatiful
Really a great lesson, a very short dish but so rich that you don't need anything else. A great and beautiful player. I love her.

Exelente fraseo:) I need to apply this to my bass playing:)

Nabilah M Y I am so glad to hear that! Good luck and enjoy. Inbal
Thank you for this. I realise its 3 years old, but just listened for the first time...and loved it.. just a wonderful interpretation...
Thanks Anthony. There is no expiration date on these short lessons(-: I hope you enjoy and please check out my other masterclasses as well.
Thank you so much for your insight on this music.

What type of microphone you use in cello?

The leap of a minor 10th (D up to F) isn’t a natural jump, & proves Bach was having a 2-way conversation.
Hai ragione.....Do Re Mi è meglio!!! love u
That is definitely not the way bach is played (traditionally) 🙈
