How many of you are planning to get out of the Army! 🤔

The biggest thing that I tell people is if you plan on getting out in the next 1 1/2 you better start documenting all your medical shit. Go for everything! I made the mistake and was doing shit last minute. Thankfully I had an amazing PA who slotted me for appointments on a very short notice ( a few months left) to get everything documented. I had several things I refused to get seen by because I was the suck it up soldier who didn't want to be seen as broken. Throw those feelings out the door and get looked at. A few months after my ETS date I had my rating and was getting disability. No shame, you earned that shit.

I wish I planned my exit from the Army more properly when I left active duty in 1999. I struggled at first in the civilian world and worked in several jobs in the private sector. I completed my 8 year obligation in the Army Reserves and started working for the state of California in the current job that I'm still working in 19 years later.

I'm getting out in 1.5 years and I'm 7 years in with 3 deployments, which was fine when I was a single soldier but I'm married now with a son and I'm about to miss majority of the first year of his life and I've decided that the active duty life isn't suitable for my family. Long story short I'm absolutely terrified of my transition. I joined the army the day I graduated highschool and left less than 2 weeks later for basic. The army is all I've ever known my adult life and I have no idea how things are going to be on the outside. I've never had a civilian job before and it's scary to look at the outside when everything has always been provided for me with the army. At the end of the day no matter what happened I've always had a roof, clean clothes, clean running water, a bed, and food. Civilian side none of that is guaranteed. It's scary. I've been telling myself that people make it work every day to keep myself up about getting out but I'm scared lol.

Same bro. I have a year and 8 months left and I’ll be at 12 years. Tired, broke, and I wanna have roots somewhere. But all I’ve ever known is Army. But you know I look at all my girlfriends friends that know nothing about the military and just see how at peace they are when they do anything and it makes me want that even more. The constant over thinking things and having to check in with people to do anything is just not cutting it for me anymore and I’m a SSG. Take what you’ve learned and the person you’ve become and apply it to whatever you do when you get out and I’m sure you’ll be good! You might fail here and there but I’m sure you’ll do great and things always work out eventually!

The military would be better to shorten enlistments to 2 years each. People would be signing up in droves and staying in way longer.

Got out the Marines last week, and the whole time I was excited to get out and follow my ambitions, but fuck I miss my friends and the entire “culture” of it. Definitely have felt disconnected and bored since I got out. I thought to myself, “Damn, I wish my contract was a year longer” 🤣🤣

I have 2 y and 7 months left to get out, I already have a plan on what I wanna do, and it was the plan that I had when joining the military, I am really sticking to it, I'm already saving up, aiming to have at least $20k by the time I get out, I have 4K saved. But I DO NOT rule out reenlisting active duty, AT ALL. Because I'm truly enjoying it. If I do end up getting out, I would probably reenlist reserve to keep the benefits

    What’s up bro!
I’m in active duty (Army) and have 1year 11 months before my contract ends. I haven’t taken any leaves during the service and plan to save it up until the end (35 days of leave currently available now for me). I’ve been taking college classes while in service as well. I feel like the military is not for me and just want to make it done and get out ASAP. I want to get out early, do all the internship programs, sick calls whatever before I get out. Please make a video and help me plan for that. Thanks brother
