Happy Holidays for you both Tom & Linda Peters as well! ... Your composition for this this film is brilliant . A perfect match.... I could not stop watching ... I found it truly intriguing. ... (I LOVED IT)... Jan
These effects are incredible for the time period. Still, it's hard to imagine an era when those Victorian dolls and these jumpy silent films weren't considered creepy.
Rozhdyestvo Obitatelei Lyesa (1911) - The Insects' Christmas Wikipedia Very cool. Pioneers of stop-motion... amazing to think no one had done this kind of thing before... and here we are enjoying hours of work from them Ruskies 105 years later! Although the 2nd one looked more like a grasshopper. Damn Reds! They're putting vodka in our soil! So are these giant bugs or is he just small? I'm guessing small...
Isn't it a great film? It's my understanding that he was an entomologist by trade. Since the critters he studied wouldn't cooperate under hot studio lights, he animated them himself. So yes, they're tiny, which makes the stop-motion animation even more amazing.
@@TomPetersComp I suspect it is a translation error although not sure how one confuses a dragonfly with a grasshopper visually. Still a brilliant little film.
Isn't it amazing? Because Starewizc was an entomologist those are real insects. Not only is the stop motion animation incredible, even by today's standards, but it's also using tiny figures!
@@TomPetersComp Yes, it is amazing. It would be really tough to make the ladybug walk the way that it did. This video also reminds me of the film Alice (1988) by Jan Svankmajer, which is worth a watch if you haven't seen it before.
That was SUPER DUPER !!!🪲🐞🪲🐞👍👍
Oh this is wonderful! I am such a fan TOM PETERS!!
AMAZING!!!!! So cool to find out about this great pioneer of stop motion animation!

This is beautiful! Love the stop motion. Magical. The music is a wonderful complement and adds its own magic to the piece.
Thanks, Vicente! This was a lot of fun to do.

How adorable is that? Love it, although did want to note Miss Dragonfly is a grasshopper ;)
Isn't it an amazing film? It was a blast to write music for it. I wondered about Miss Dragonfly. Maybe a mistranslation from Russian?
