I tried to repair the right analog stick, completely disassembled it, and cleaned everything, there is nothing obviously wrong to see, i closed it back up and nothing happens, even if i swap the joystick to the left side, it doesn't work, sometimes, it registers left, but only once out of a 100 tries, i am just gonna replace this analog stick with a new one because i don't know what is wrong with it. I even messured all the small traces on the ribbon cable of the analog stick, and if i swap the left analog stick to the right one, it just works perfectly fine.
I think in your case it has to be the stick. I tried swapping my sticks and i had the same issue on the right with the other analog stick so I knew something had to be up with the board or ribbon.
i ended up buying a 2000, gonna get another soon. my 1000 has this issue i even replaced the entire stick to no avail. was fun while it lasted but im on to the next
i broke that stupid lil black lock of the connector... does the ribbon need to have pressure on it in order to work?? or am I screwed and need a replacement board? I was hoping I can just hotglue the ribbon to the pins... but i wonder if those ribbons need to have pressure towards the pins to work.
It's worth a shot but the pressure may need to be precise. I played around with varying levels of pressure and connection and I didn't have much luck unless I had the clasp fully closed. If it's on the Thumbstick board, it would be cheaper to replace than the motherboard. Either way it's worth trying. That's how we figure this stuff out. let me know how it goes.
@@PalominoBlueGames got my quick fix. it's hot glued to the pins.. didn't use much on there to not break them in case I have to get in there again. I disassembled the joystick, lift those tiny metals that make the rotation touches on the ribbon. You are right about the presure. At first i didn't realize the ribbon was supposed to go underneath the pins and not over it. Once i inserted them under the pins, the analog stick started to respond. Any movement left or right would cause it to drift. It needs to sit at a specific point. I realized that if there was not enought pressure on the pins, the stick would drag pretty slow.. but if pressed down on the ribbon(so the section under the pins would lift up) the stick worked good. Did all of the testing with the system open of course cause it was pretty much trial and erro.. minecraft works fine, gta works fine, however that mercenary game is oddly turning left faster than turning right.. i'm not sure what this means but at least I'm now getting response on my right stick.. anyways.. thought I'd let you know in case anyone is going through the same Lol. Hotglue works just fine! you just have to place the ribbon where it should be and not move it while you apply the hot glue.
I didn't realize that this caused problems :// I got a new analog stick and broke the black thing on top of the clasp when fixing it, and now have a whole new issue
Very possible. It might be a matter of cleaning or reseating the ribbon and not even replacing it. While I was troubleshooting, I got the old busted ribbon to work a few times but I had to hold my finger on it just right to continue to work. Replacing the ribbon completely fixed the issue.
Love the sped up video with the slow sultry explanations. Great video.
Why thank you.
Also; absolutely excellent music choice.

I have this exact same issue. have replaced the ribbon cable and analogue to no avail, any idea what the issue could be?

Thanks for the update. Very interesting indeed.

are those analog stick were hall effect?
do you know if i can use a psvita 2000joystick on a psvita 1001? they have them on walmart but only for the psvita 2000
Unfortunately the ribbons are different and they are not interchangeable.
Where did you find the new ribbon cable?
If you can get your hands on a broken Vita you can harvest parts from it. Otherwise, people on eBay sell parts.
So is the ribbon cable causing drift? how’d ribbon get scratched in the first place?
Could be stress over time or oxidation.
@@PalominoBlueGames Thanks!
So, the ribbon could be my problem about my right analog stick not responding to the left and right movements
