Overcharged amalgam could have just countered the creature entirely than just it's trigger 🤷♂️

@@mostlycasualcommander that was the only play, because Avabruck caretaker enters with the night form that has hexproof and grant hexproof to all other permanents of the controller, cannot staple the ability. Good game tho!
Hello there! Are you suggesting that the Overcharged Amalgam could not have countered the Triggered Ability of Hollowhenge Huntmaster? Hexproof affects permanents, not spells on the stack or in this case, triggered abilities on the stack. So Overcharged Amalgam's ability could definitely counter the triggered ability of huntmaster. That said, it was still a missed opportunity for Matt. Countering Hollowhenge Huntmaster was still the correct play.

Thought day/night doesn't affect the older cards by flipping them? His mayor shouldn't be flipping

Hi there. Are you referring to when Matt cast Overcharged Amalgam and countered the triggered of Hollowhenge Huntmaster? If so, Overcharged Amalgam can counter the triggered ability of Hollowhenge Huntmaster while the ability is on the stack. The triggered ability does not have hexproof, only the permanents on Chris's board. Does that help?
Is Karmic Guide a spooky Halloween card? I suppose Christianity is scary
