It's a great deck, played it today against a mono black custom lol, he quit after I said lemme get that Butcher in your grave LMAO. I added urzas incubator and jet medallion... Is fast but not very much punch, and you'll probably win through annoyance over damage haha but loads of potential here.
I used to run Herald’s Horn in my version of the deck- but eventually cut it for Painful Quandary. My deck only runs 16-17 horrors and they are all big bois. Leans more into the mill strategy and with control aspects. Lots of ramp/lands, counterspells, and board wipes to slow the game down and safely play my commander.
Umbris is a solid commander for the tribe and doubles as a great voltron commander. I haven't tried Umbris myself yet, but it looks like a fun deck to build around. Do you cut more horrors in favor of equipment cards or what cards fit Umbris well?
The horror tribe is pretty inexpensive overall. Toxrill and Phyrexian Obliterator are probably the most expensive ones you could add. Otherwise it'd just be expensive utility cards like Rhystic Study. I'm not sure how I'd expand on it more then hyper efficient cards like that which would just push it towards cEDH.
I just find it funny that this guy works well in any mill deck with his colours. Be it in a horror deck, or a simple Phenax deck.
Yea he's a super versatile commander! He's really fun to build around in general.
Do you have any suggestions for the deck? Are there any commanders you'd suggest to build around in the future? Let me know below!

Stumbled across your video looking for ideas for this guy. Great video. Format is fantastic and easy to follow. Subscribed and keep up the great work!
Glad you enjoyed and thank you!
Great video. Some very good ideas and really nice explanations. Loved it.
I like the format and presentation. Great suggestions. Live long and prosper. Subscribed.
Really enjoy the videos. I like herald of the horn for pretty much any tribal to get a bit of cost reduction, but also some card advantage too.

Hi! I loved your video and your deck tech. I am so happy because I found your yt channel. Can you make an Elminster deck for the next video?
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! The next few videos are already in the works, but I can look into him.
I'm using Umbris as my commander instead of the captain. But I do use him, it's just a different playstyle of horror deck.
