Zion:
Nun ist der Herr zur Ruh gebracht.
The Faithful:
Mein Jesu, gute Nacht!
Zion:
The Faithful:
Mein Jesu, gute Nacht!

O selige Gebeine,
Daß euch mein Fall in solche Not gebracht!
The Faithful:
Mein Jesu, gute Nacht!

Habt lebenslang
Vor euer Leiden tausend Dank,
Daß ihr mein Seelenheil so wert geacht'.
The Faithful:
Mein Jesu, gute Nacht!
68. Chorus I & II
Wir setzen uns mit Tränen nieder
Und rufen dir im Grabe zu:
Ruhe sanfte, sanfte ruh!
Ruht, ihr ausgesognen Glieder!
Euer Grab und Leichenstein
Soll dem ängstlichen Gewissen
Ein bequemes Ruhekissen
Und der Seelen Ruhstatt sein.
Höchst vergnügt schlummern da die Augen ein.
Peter Schreier, Evangelist
Ernst Gerold Schramm, Jesus
Siegmund Nimsgern, Judas & Pilatus
Helen Donath, soprano
Julia Hamari, alto
Horst R. Laubenthal, tenor
Walter Berry, bass
Karl Richter, Münchener Bach Orchester, Chor & Chorbuben Кино
Richter's Bach organ performances are definitive interpretations and have never been surpassed. His early death was a tragedy.
My mom died this morning at age 86. What a blessing to hear these peices
I wish you the best. I hope that yearing this peace will bring you some peace. Sorry for my faults, I'm French
I have just read your message, 13 years after its posting. I'm so sorry for your loss of your mother. I'm thinking of you and sending you heartfelt condolences and love.
These last parts of the St. Matthew Passion are beautiful beyond description. Although I am not religious, they bring tears to my eyes, and that does not happen very often to me. The lyrics speak a very tender language as well. Just an incredible, immortal piece or music. And an amazing performance!
@@mwewering Credo quia absurdum
The spiritual depth and profound nature of this recitative at the beginning is supernatural. Genuine proof of the divine. Never have I heard anything so dark and grief-stricken.
This performance is musically and visually perfect.
Life is always greater than any adversity. We are immortal.
We are going to meet again.
Best Bach conductor ever.
Bach was a genious. For me the best few bars ever composed. And this includes the whole music of our world.
What a wonderful musical offering to the planet.
The discords eloquently express the sorrow at laying Jesus in his tomb. Bach at his ultimate. What a wonderful cultural and religious icon for the planet. He is truly the greatest ever composer and communicator of emotions through music.
Preach the truth.
My most sincere condolences :(
Now she's up there with the Great Father Bach, listening to His wonderful music for eternity.
This is tonal and rhythmic perfection, a microcosm of heaven itself.
This final chorus is the most sublime part of the great passion and Richter's is the finest interpretation I know of. Scorsese used this piece in Casino and Pasolini liked it so much that he used it both in Accattone as well as in Il vangelo secondo Matteo.
Kafros Kypseli Yes, one of the most breathtaking moments in all of music history, imho, and Richter brought it to life truly.
Amo JS Bach! e Karl Richter è grandioso! Grazie!
Thank you very much SoliDeoGloria8550 for uploading these pieces of Gold! I am going to forward them with my Dad and I am sure he is going to LOVE this! Bless You!
omg, i'd probably cry my soul out, if i would see this live in concert.
Nothing more touching then a song like this sung by such a big choir!
this final chorus has incredible sweetness, transcendence, is leading to eternal bliss......immortality,,,,,
I want to thank you for uploading this entire performance. I just finished all 22 entree, and I am exhausted physically, emotionally, spiritually and musically. This Passion has given me such renewed life and faith in these last few hours.
DIVINE MUSTERPIECE
This is God's masterpiece on earth. Nothing created by man comes so near to expressing the Eterrnal Truth of God as this Chorus. As we live in the shadow of mortal death, we see the hope of the Resurrection won for us by Jesus Christ.
Thank you for posting the entire St Matthews. It is a music masterpiece. This orchestra and chorus do it justice.
I stand here in awe
I think its highly appropiate to put both the recitative and the chorus.... they really complement each other perfectly
Siamo in altra atmosfera fuori totalmente dalle miserie umane.
i think, I THINK, this is the best bach's st. matthew passion i've ever heard
Entering Lent ... a must to listen to. Thx for placing on RUclips.
This must surely be one of the finest gems in all music. It captures both the grief at Christ's (and all others') death in the recitative. The following Chorale contains the eternal hope that death is just the end of life on this planet, followed by transition into another state, where the spirit lives on in peace (Ruh').
Hence the common expression that, "Life is just a journey.".
Hopefully, to something more fulfilling and better.
it's amazing!!!! This is one of the most beautiful pieces on the ground!
Coro stupendo, precisione assoluta, direzione impeccabile.
I have tears in my eyes, thank you so much for sharing!
One of the pinnacles of western music, excelent!
I think its highly appropiate to put both the recitative and the chorus.... they really complement each other perfectly.... oh man that soprano really nails it
"Mijn jezus goede nacht" doet mij aan vroeger dat wij als kind in bed lagen en mijn ouders heel hard op de radio deze groep draaide
mooi hoeveel mensen dezelfde herrinnering koesteren
Now this is what is called...........Music!!❤❤❤
The final corus is the best the best part!
Sencillamente hermoso...
this pieces justifies the existence of human kind in any form. even all the horrible things we have done as a society and as a group of beings before bach, is worth it... so that he'd write this.
Just only God himself could inspire J S Bach to write this music and words according to Jesus life, passion and death it must have been his true hope to get through death in the same way Jesus did. I bless God and J S Bach who is at this very moment with Him in his kingdom for all eternity, Amen
Bach was also inspired by Vivaldi.
And Alcohol.
stupenda musica!
GRACIAS INFINITAS.
Das Werk in dieser Ausführung macht Gänsehaut!
Ich werde mir die DVD besorgen müssen.
Grandios!
Being interpreted by the great Karl Ritcher
Thank you. !!!
i will see this concert live in march at ascension church in ny. i know i will break down, esp at the last chorus.
Thanks, Soli, it's great to know that God can use a person from centuries ago to bless a bereaved person today. And thanks for posting these Bach pieces.
I think I"ve died and gone to heaven. Where has this been all my life?
grandioso
THANK YOU FOR SHARING WITH ME.
Is it wrong that I miss Richter's and others' romantic approach to this master work? I've seen the Matthaus Passion twice but both times a more "authentic" style with a smaller choir and orchestra and period instruments. But I much prefer the older recordings where the lushness of the orchestration is literally overwhelming
Thanks a million for posting this!
That' s it!
@HermannTubes, I couldn't agree with you more! And what makes it all the more amazing is that Bach was doing this in the early 1700s - makes one feel quite insignificant.
I am in floods of tears...........this is unbearably beautiful
Poderoso :')!
Julia Hamari is great
@Menegoth When someone dies, even if they go to heaven, people will be saddened no matter what. He obviously loved his mom and these pieces provided him/her comfort.
The GREAT Bach,the GREAT Germany!
I dislike very much those who disliked this.
Well stated
LA MIA PASSIONE.................LA MIA VITA.
Sure, friend. Whatever makes you sleep at night.
@bonumfatum457 My point exactly.

@nimbudu I think in the same mode.
@SoliDeoGloria8550 Yeah, sure she is. >_>
@Menegoth Then why did you say "No she isn't"?
mala toma
@nimbudu see above post
Utmost grace
Sobrehumano
@Menegoth Go away. How terrible are you of a person that when someones loved one dies, you deny them comfort? If you're going to be an athiest that wanders about telling people their beliefs are wrong, spare us your unsettling presence and do it somewhere else.
@bonumfatum457 If people truly believed their loved one has gone to heaven and is enjoying eternal bliss, they wouldn't be sad and crying would they? And if they are, they either don't believe what they preach in the first place, or they are selfish hypocrites.
See, another example of why religion and logic are mutually exclusive.
I stand here in awe
Sencillamente hermoso...
