I really appreciate how your content is always aimed at making players think by themselves by giving them some ideas to do so. You have a very humble and educational approach and it's my favorite attitude when it comes to casual competitive gaming.
A few Mythbusting ideas:
-Can Pigpen be destroyed while in the air?
-Can Pigpen be eaten/deflected?
-Can Hog combo his abilities to one-shot, like old Hog could still do by using his right click before hooking?
-Do Tracer/Genji activate Pigpen by Blinking/Dashing over it?
-Can Pigpen go through Sym's teleport?
-Can Sombra hack Pigpen?
-Can Pigpen be lifted by Lifeweaver's petal/be placed on the Petal while it's in the air?
-Can Lifeweaver save a teammate by lifting them out of Pigpen with his Petal?
-Do shields protect from Pigpen if they're between a player and the center of the ability?
And more of a technical question: what's the % limit on slow if combined through Pigpen, Mei's primary, Cassidy's hinder nade, Doom's ult... etc.
Nice questions. I also wonder if you can trigger enemy trap while you pulling your teammate with your life grip. Like clearing ball mines with grip's barrier.

The larger shrapnel pieces actually make a lot of sense. since hog is just using giant piles of scrap metal as ammo, obviously not every piece is gonna be the exact same size
as much sense as shoving junk into a makeshift gun can get

I like that Roadhog has a trap now. Definitely makes him feel like an accomplice of Junkrat.
Pig pen is not bugged, the reason it did less damage is because the knock up makes the enemy miss a tick of damage or two, you have to activate it on the side to get full damage.
4:22 *okay but this is kinda amazing. having a small safety net as a backlining support is a great use of this new pigpen ability. sure, it may have more value being used offensively, but its a great new tech for when the enemy dps are diving your supp backline and you as hog can quickly give your supps this safety net. to all the hogs who utilize this tech, i love you

im gonna be honest, i think itll just be a waste to use it in that way, its far less valuable to *maybe* protect your supports who are already overpowered than it would be to just use it to get a free kill on a hooked target

One thing i would appreciate on these videos with new abilities and kits is having the POV of another hero to see what the effect is from their POV. Good video though gotta try hog now.
Breather change seems more versatile and I can see how it fixes many problems I had playing as Hog. Though it may reduce the fun of "haha do what damage you want I'm just gotta B R E A T H E"

I love the new skill expression elements! Will have to see if comboing with pigpen will outweigh the less consistent one shot. Across the board this will give hog more options in decision making and you can use breather to tank certain cooldowns. His hard counters remain though and I think he will be useless against mauga, too.
Completely disagree. I think Hog's powerful close-range matchup will make it an even fight. Mauga relies on the health and barrier generated during his Overdrive. Hog can now whittle him down and use Breather to absorb the bulk of the damage, and then shred him down once Overdrive ends. Plus, Mauga is super position reliant. Hog can force an engagement when Mauga isn't ready, shred Mauga in his ult, shred the Mauga ult itself, pull him when he tries to run, and trap him to deny his movement and rotations, which makes him super vulnerable given his large head hitbox. Sure, Mauga does a LOT of damage, but so does Hog.
@@nebulous9280 The only thing that Mauga needs to do to survive is hitting shots, and Roadhog is a perfect target for that. His dmg reduction won't do much to prevent Mauga to hit crits and get overhealth, so Mauga can just double shoot Hog, outlast him, and kill him

Mauga's Cardiac Overdrive negates Roadhog's damage. Mauga's also getting buffed when he returns.
I think this game is dog 💩 now. Being road hog was my first main when game released. Everything they do is terrible. Game is insanely unbalanced and no where neer as fun as it use to be. Tanks splattering healers and dps just like they are dps. I hope this game dies for ruining each unit. Honestly idc what other opinions are on my opinion. Games almost dead at this point cause it plays like shit. Healer balance makes no sense on this game paired with classes. Most classes don't do their true purpose. Tanks should have all skill related to protecting team outside normal shot that shouldn't do more damage then a healer. Healers should heal with ability to dmg people off them or escape. Dps should be able to put out damage and evade. How rolls work. This game just says. Well they are a tank. Nothing road hog does is truly a tank outside his hook. Trap isn't a tank ability it's a dps ability. Also to much infinite spam shots and no ammo units that just cause terrible game environments. Lets just run arouns holding l2 or r2 till starts hitting something, or just infinte fire cause i suck at the game and refuse to get better.enjoy the EOL on this game.
Can you slow down Dva bomb with the trap and thus reduce the distance travelled ?
Does sombra become visible if she walks in it ?
Can it slow down an echo "take off", a sojourn / lifeweaver / hanzo / genji dash ?
Is there a fall of damage reduction with the new scrap gun (eg against rein shield from afar)
Some Myth buster ideas:
- How does Pig Pen interact with Junker Queens's Rampage?
- Does the slow stop Wrecking Ball's cannon ball mode?
- Does the knock up prevent Sound Barrier to activate immediately similar to other knock ups?
- Can you combo Junkrat's trap with Pig Pen?
The trap would also be great to throw on the ground when you have to back off
I feel the most interesting thing with Pig Pen would be if people will either place then hook people into it, or hook people then place. I feel hook then place is more reliable rather then waiting for the right angle or position of the enemy to hook them in
Well because it’s an ability that stays on the ground until triggered; you would almost always try to have it set up (because then the cool-down restarts, which allows you to use a second)
@@mode01sometimes you don't have the benefit of guarding an area and have to use Pig Pen actively as you attack and push the aggression to stagger.
Sometimes you do have to use it more as a delayed ability when on the move.
Seems mad that you can combo two in a row. Slow effects can be very strong. Will be interesting to see how he gets used.
Honestly I just think Pig Pen will be used when hooking someone. I think it might add a bit more depth to Roadhog, but otherwise won't be utilized outside of that vacuum.
Just my predicition as of right now.
I mean of course it'll be optimal to use it when hooking someone but I quickly showed like 5 diff use cases for it at 3:46
by far the best way to use the ability is to get a free kill after hooking someone. and sure, other uses exist for it, doesnt make them as optimal though. sure, i could put this trap next to my supports just in case they get dove, but youre not just gonna leave it there the whole time, thats a waste. youre going to just use it immediately after hooking someone which will make the trap next to the supports disappear, then just rinse and repeat for the rest of the game. @@KarQ
Nonono. Finally, Roadhog and Junkrat can duo as they were meant to be, scheming around laying down traps, This is the meta those two have been waiting for, obviously.
Mei, will also join in, she is the middle ground between the duo's personalities, to keep it balanced. Also, her wall! And more slows. People are going to be completely hooked by this new meta!

Mythbuster Question: Does any of Pig Pen's damage (initial burst or the 30dps when in it) get amplified by Mercy's damage boost, nano boost, or Baptiste's Amplification Matrix?
The answer for mercy damage boost is actually no! I’m still not sure however but I’d assume no with amp matrix considering it fundamentally functions like a junkrat trap
it functions as a pet, which does not fall into the category that is capable of receiving amplification.

Does Pigpen activate on Wrecking Ball's Mines?
That's a really good one. If the Mines destroy Pigpen, then it's rough, but if Pigpen deploys on the mines before they arm, they get One Shot before they can activate and create a ton of space for Hog's team. He could even theoretically use it reactively on his backline if they get slammed.
This is a tech that was possible before, but is even better now, and that's animation canceling your ult.
Basically, if you're in an ability animation during your ult when it ends, you skip out of the ending animation, similar to if you dash at the end of a Dragonblade. Because of how much control you have over Take A Breather now, you basically don't have an ending animation for Whole Hog.

I played against him earlier tonight for just about every match. I’ve gotta honestly say he feels very balanced to play against now. His damage keeps up regardless of range and it doesn’t feel as punishing going against him. I have not personally played him though as I am not a tank player.
First impressions: amazing rework, devs deserve credit for their hard work. It addressed all the concerns I had with roadhog.
- Reliance on hook one-shot accessibility to actually be meta. This ties in with his primary/secondary fire mechanic feeling like ass in the neutral game. The new primary fire will even out his presence as always dangerous, instead of deadly or completely unthreatening depending on distance.
- take a breather. This makes him less susceptible to anti nade, and now he’s like a mini, less mobile dva.
- pig pen has room for a lot of creativity and fills the team-oriented aspect of his kit out nicely. He can use it himself but can probably get more value by letting teammates engage with it.
TLDR; he’s a lot more dangerous in the neutral game, not as reliant on hook, and has neat utility features now
TAB is actually more vulnerable to anti nade as the damage reduction is reduced heavily so you end up taking far more damage
@@bladeclanhalo3yes thats true but now anti doesn't cancel the entire cooldown so you still get to keep most of your heals in case you survive and wanna go in again. the matchup is much more gray now which is good.

May i suggest if you have a mei on your team. Throw your trap down amd hook an enemy into it. Then have your mei wall him or her off and keep em on the trap longer.

only played one match and there was no ana on the opponents team but he feels fun ngl
before the one shot on 200hp heroes was only possible/consistent with damage done by teammates but with pig pen, u can do it on your own, which feels much better in terms of controlling what happens in the game
resource take a breather is nice for the instances when you’re just short of few health and your supports are helping your other teammates
now you dont have to waste the whole ability for just 100 health
I've said it before and I'll say it again, they made his breather into Bastion's old Self-Repair and I love it.

Disagree that Take A Breather is now more skilful. It's now a lot LESS skilful, because counter-play is nullified. Why bother saving that sleep or stun for the perfect moment, when Hog can just continue like nothing happened?
More proof that OW1 was way better. Heroes are becoming so homogenous now.

I was on the fence about the primary fire change because it felt like it took away some of the complexity and interest of the hero, and while I still feel sad about that, you highlighted how inconsistent it could be and how much more consistient it is now and I honestly agree. It's a bit sad, but I think the hero is overall better for it (it's also better for new players, I've seen sooo many use the old secondary in short range and not realize how much damage they're missing out on, it was unintuitive and this new verision is better for that too).
I was a bit underwhelmed by the trap at first, but the more I think about it the more I see the design decisions behind it. Changing Roadhog's playstyle was not a goal of the rework, they wanted to preserve his playstyle while making him translate/fit better into the 1 tank 5v5 format and reduce 1shot frustrations. Pig Pen is actually a really cool elaboration to Roadhog's playstyle! It always feels good to hook someone into a pitfall or into an ally's ability, but now Roadhog himself has a pitfall/ability that he can place himself and then hook people into himself!! When I think about it like that, it's a really well designed ability and I think it adds a lot to his kit and seems to be satisfying like hooking people into other stuff is! (Although they could've made the VFX/theme more juicy, like some kind of explosion or gas or something lol) Whether or not it adds to the complexity of the hero remains to be seen and will be uncovered as people master him, but I think it rounds out his kit really well. (Also adds more cool synergy with Junkrat, always good to see lore-accurate synergy lol)
The Take a Breather change is SO GOOD, you put it very well. It's *on-demand DR* and with some healing to offset the remaining damage, it is so well designed!! It's so versitile and adds so much to his kit. It is not just a healing ability anymore, in fact I'd go as far as to argue that healing a bunch of hp quickly is a secondary use of the ability now. And if it's undertuned (they probably wanted to be careful of it becoming a 1 second cooldown invincibility button), they can easily just tweak some numbers to make it better!! Love this change.
3:16 btw, the missing tick of damage is actually an unintended interaction with the tiny knock-up. the knock-up boops them out of the range of the trap, so it misses out on 1 tick of damage. Without the knock-up, it does actually kill them. Flats tested it in his video on Roadhog and I was sceptical but that actually seems to be what's happening. I hope they fix it.
I was not expecting the rework to actually be good but this is sick, I love roadhog and may pick up the game again
If you slingshot enemies onto the trap, it pushes them upwards making a lot of slingshot spots infinitely more reliable because the can’t land on the ground

Ooooo, the bombos we can use with this new ability! I'm thinking of ulti-ing against a tank to the wall, stopping the ulti to place the trap under them to confirm the trigger, then continue using whatever is remaining of the ulti.

Honestly I think pigpen should have two charges (two can exist at the same time). It’ll allow more flexible play with the trap, allowing you to protect your supports and use it offensively to pressure enemies

Does the slow effect still apply through Zarya’s particle barrier?
Can pig pen be hacked? If yes, what effect does this have?
Do other deployables (torb turret, sym turret, etc.) trigger the pig pen or just players?

i dont even think the new ability is the biggest thing. I think it's his heal, it feels so much more engaging to use now and gets rid of the extreme hard counter that anti-nade puts on it.

The Dev’s post about the rework was missing so much info. I thought it was just a new ability until I saw this video. The extra little damage numbers in the video is really cool too. Not played Roadhog in a while so this’ll be fun.

Is there any hero that can move fast enough over the pig pen to not trigger it or to trigger it but take no damage (rocket punch, genji dash)? And do abilities that make the character immune still trigger it (wraith form, suddenly falling over with ice block)?
Can the trap be destroyed and can it be done mid-air? What are the trap's EMP/hack interactions?
Can the damage pig pen deals be boosted? Is it when the trap is triggered or deployed?
Can the take a breather or pig pen animations now be cancelled with primary fire or another ability?
Can the trap be seen with infrasight or sonic atrow?
Can the trap be teleported with Sym teleporter? Does it also work after it being deployed?
Can the enemy's pig pen or another object from an ability trigger the trap?
What are the pig pen's shield interactions? Can it be thrown through shields?

I always thought he should be able to hook Allies to yank them away from danger and get in front of them faster to tank, missed opportunity with his rework to add that. He needs more team presence

Ive seen many people saying that orisa isn't as hard of a counter post rework as opposed to pre rework due to the fact that even if they stun roadhog out of take a breather, he can just continue healing. So the question I want to ask is can orisa defeat( kill or make him flee) roadhog post rework despite the take a breather changes?

Oh lmao I was playing this morning (clueless) and kept taking damage from an "electric junk trap". Bro I was baffled until I saw this 💀
He feel more dps-y than tanky atm. Idk because I don’t know how to play him yet. But you cant face tank things like reapers or any DPS actually anymore. And he can’t escape from bad situations where he is at low health anymore.
