I'm going with a 1j swap in my IS300 as well. Much more affordable and all the 2jzgtes come with the 6 speed aristo automatic tranny and the 6 speed manual is like 10gs!! But the 154 most likely comes on the 1j or at least is only like 5-1500 to buy which is much more feasible and original. I know I could put the 154 on a 2j but I like how the 1j is a single turbo and i see a ton of 2js going to single turbo. Beautiful car brotha thanks for inspiration!!

yep, 02-05 will all work the same way! I didn't have to repin anything at all. The only wiring work i did was to extend the 2 water temp sensor wires about 13 inches!

I have a 97 sc with the na motor for 5-6 years with more than 300k miles. Ready to try something new but won’t leave the chassis. What’s your advice?
Depends on cost! If I had the option to buy a soarer before owning an SC300, then id start with the Soarer. But since you already have the platform, might be cheaper to swap it!

Gushi, I have an AS200 (Is200) according to wiki. What 1jz would fit for my ride? I’m just learning about my vehicle and for some reason thought I had an IS200. Technically it is just under Toyota and not Lexus.
did the link ecu come with a base map for the 1jz to start up and idle? dont wanna trailer my car to the tuner without buttoning things up to do a first start and have the car leak fluids and what not lol. appreciate the content.
No, the kit didn't come with a 1JZ startup map. It did come with a map for the NA2J though. That map will allow the 1J to idle but i wouldn't recommend driving far with it.
I think the difficulty will vary on what resources are available for you. For example, do you have access to a welder/fabricator who can build you an intercooler for a GTE swap? Otherwise, there are bolt in kits for a NA-T setup. But When done right, both a NA-T and the GTE swap will be badass!
you wont be able to with any standalone ecu... So realistically, id have to non-op this car after two years. Or swap everything over to factory and try to get it smogged. lol

Kinda wondering. Since you do street in in California, how does smog checks work? I wanted to get mine BAR'd so I don't have to deal with stupid CARB laws in that sense.
Yeah that wont happen with this ECU. For every smog check, Id have to revert back to stock, and do the smog exam on the factory ECU. Good thing I have another year.

I believe they do now, but when I first got it, it didn't. But base maps are easy to get! Its straight up plug and play. use the existing is300 engine harness and every plug will have a home except for the O2 sensors and some other bs plugs you don't need.

they have an option for an auto platform as well! It will be the same procedure as my swap. The only different being you have to get the Auto option when you check out

Correct, Im using my stock IS300 engine harness on the 171 engine, with LINK ECU. What you're assuming is 100% correct. The only difference is you will need to buy the AUTO version of the ECU from Excessive Manufacturing. And Mark Panic can assist you with that.
Yep, Mauricio is right. I already had access to Greddy Performance products. The CX kit is a great kit to start off of as a base but it isn't a direct bolt on and you will need to modify a bit.
yep, Im using the factory w55 for now. I will be eventually swapping to a CD009, but int he meanwhile, 300whp wont be doing much damage to the stock trans.
Have a few questions -I assume the stock GE a/c compressor bolted right up to the 1JZ with no need for pulley or belt size changes? -With the Link ECU kit, you were basically able to retain your whole GE harness and the Link and Panic Jumper did the rest of the conversion? -Were you still able to keep your immobilizer on the car no issues?
yep, stock GE ac compressor bolted right up with no issues at all. yep, with the link/xcessive kit, everything is from the IS300. yep, the car still turns on its own power with the factory key.
Greddy should come out with more IS300 parts! This platform is making a comeback. I've owned mine since 2004 and would love to rock some Greddy parts.

haha I WISH i was getting more than 20mpg. But I average about 16. Its hard to stay out of boost.

I didn't use the 1J harness. I kept my is300 harness. The only thing I had to do was extend the water temperature sensor.

my car was originally manual w55 so its using a w55 flywheel and clutch setup.

It came with the automatic trans. I ended up just retaining my stock w55.
The bell housing was a direct fit to the 1j?
Barry Son w55 and w58 is the stock transmission for a lot of manual toyota cars along with the r154
