Hawk being Gawain, that seems quite odd, but sorta fitting considering in one of Gawain's most famous stories, Gawain had promised to face his death but gave in to cowardice. I guess this flaw can be referenced in Hawk often acting big, but escaping out of fear when things get serious, though this is probably a stretch.
A thing that is often overlooked is that Gawain got a special ability while fighting Lancelot that gave him 3x the power from 9am to Noon. COINCIDENCE I THINK NOT
Arthur, the king of camolote (can't spell) though it does make me wonder why he became king, we don't know if he had Royal blood, we know the sword chose him, but do the citizens know that, and chose him for that reason? HMMMMMM
he also doesnt look a day over 18 like he still look like a teen

I knew some of the Arthurian legends based on a kid's book written by one of Finland's best writers of children's books: Mauri Kunnas. He wrote a book based on King Arthur and the Knights of the Round table. It did tell an abridged, child friendly, version of the main story, but it didn't include most of the characters from show. Hence why I didn't know at first the series was inspired by the Arthurian legends, until King Arthur himself showed up for the first time.
You got it wrong. Escanor is based off a knight called Sir Gawain who was king Arthur’s nephew. He gets cursed as a baby and his curse would allow him to get stronger for 3 hours in the morning and would peak at noon. Sir Lancelot fought sir Gawain many times and always won
Now that Four Knights of the Apocalypse manga is a thing, we know that Escanor isn't based on Gawain :)

the fact that the bad guys are “holy knights” and meliodas was the only one who could pull the sword from the stone was a huge giveaway. Plus I live in Britain or as the Romans called it Britannia so that was pretty much a giveaway as well. I’ve only just discovered this series and the mix between anime and British legend is awesome!!!!
