I get a lot of questions regarding my retinol journey so today I am going to share my entire journey with you all along with giving few tips that will help you start your retinol journey.
Keep in mind that is extremely important to seek professional advice before starting retinols so that you don’t mess up your skin barrier.
Use this video as a guideline and don’t follow everything blindly.

I'm using:
- biore cleansing oil
- Neutrogena gentle cleanser
- Bioderma atoderm creme
- Bello photostable sunscreen
- Vaseline (sometimes at night)
Along with retin, and now I don't have any red bumps, irritated skin caused by retin. I stopped using all the actives and other skincare products. My skin got a lot better.
Am using prescription one tret two times a week for aging purposes nd doing very well

I am currently in the purging phase 😥 ... My skin has always been acne free since childhood... Just a little bumps here and there... I started retinol for same purpose that is ageing gracefully
But in this purge phase I am starting to experience so many breakouts
I am not used to seeing my face like this

I have started my retinol journey a month back. Purging and irritation phase is on. I wish I can sail through this rough patch in a month. Thank you for your insights

@@fatymah7528 i did reduce my application to 3 nights per week and the purging stopped and now my skin feels better
@@poojamitra3990 yess I apply 3 times a week too, could you tell me how long did the purging last for you?
@@fatymah7528 approximately 2 months of purging… I discontinued for a week till it subsided and then again started with it. Skin improves after the purging phase… one has to cleanse internally too. Warm Lemon water helped me

I am having what they call a purge with retinol at the minute and you can see how people just give it up. It's very off-putting 😐
I think universe is pulling me to use this Trentin… it’s exciting but scariest… Guys can you please give me some advice..
I don’t have any acne issues but I have dull skin and some what discolouration which makes it look a little bit uneven.. not the smoothest but not so much texture.. but I always dream of achieving clean skin with equal colour everywhere.. i never used actives or chemical peels.. not a sensitive skin… I have a I am 27 btw..

hi Sreeja 🌹 thanks for sharing your experience & tips. I started Tret .025 about 3m back. made my skin dry &controlled sebum prodn. Can't say if there's any improv in texture. my skin didn't purge yet. using twice in a week now, I want to transition to regular use, you think is it a good idea?

@@skinoreal7327 thank you replying Sreeja 😊. My dermat has recommended that I should not use tret or retin A, cos I have frequent hormonal breakouts, he's of view that it would make it worse. The tret that I'm using is self prescribed after watching understanding tons of YT videos for guidance & it's working alright cos I don't miss sunscreen.

the going through my tret journey for acne of course with a dermat and it’s the worst my skin has ever been mainly cause i’m not used to looking at my skin that way and every damn human i meet says omg u jade clear skin what happened i’m so damn frustrated at this point
Please ask your derm to reduce the strength and frequency. You can derive benefits even by just using it once a week just may take longer but without the irritation

Dear when we have breakouts which cream to apply... Cosrx ceramide or klairs blue midnight or bioderma cicabio

hello ma'am.
i want to start using retinol. but i am really scared about the purging. i am in my teens and i have hardly had any acne. i was thinking of using a milder encapsulated retinol (not adapalene/tretinoin). can u please tell me if that product will have the same side-effects and breakouts.
Hey no need to start now tbh for now stick to a simple and effective routine Retinol is good when ur in ur mid 20s i mean if u are comfortable u can start now.
every1 talk about the acne and the marks but what about the SCARS which never goes completely even derma roll etc rarerly make clean skin so who never have pimple or cystic acne better don't use this i guess every1 should inform. you will get the marks clear but the scars won't.

I m on the same phase now... M turning to be 29 this October... I just broke out all over my face on June... Since that time I m breaking out and it got severe from last two weeks... nothing help me to get out of it... I have stopped all the exfoliation products too ..
I don't know how to deal with it now...

Great tips but when I go for short contact the tret at times flows down to my eyes from the forehead and irritates them . I am really scared of it migrating or flowing down to my eyes. Is there any way to protect the eyes ? Thank you
apply a thin layer of petrolatum jelly around the eyes before (but be careful as for some this can lead to milia, never created any issues for me though)

I am using minimalist retinol 0.3 from 2 months 3 days in week and suddenly very itchy from one week so i stop retinol and only use ceremide moisturiser. Wait for normal skin condition i am 40 and some fine line dont know it is really helpful or not.

Hi you must start using facewash containing salyclic acid and glycolic acid, I had my full face filled with bad acne, but I started using all those facewashes(I tried three brands so don't know which one out of them worked) Also I remember once I had a medicine called tretinoin or something prescribed by doctor and that vanished my bad acnes in just one day! But I think they came back again as I wasn't using good products (salyclic facewashes etc at that time) Also, dont use biotique toner because I've heard they badly affect the acne I didn't know it then, but now I think maybe that was making my acne worse. If u use any toner then use good and gentle toners on acne. And u can apply vitamin E capsules(evion) on your acne, that will help. In my opinion removing acne is very very easy if you know the right products to use! :) coz I had worse type of acne on my whole face which I thought will never leave me, but now I have zero acne! All thanks to the right salyclic n glycolic facewashes, vitamin e capsules(not orally) and the right toners etc.

i started off with tret 0.05 % pea-sized about for face and neck once a week for a month, then upscaled to twice for next month and now thrice a week since the third month. I do not experience any dryness from the second month onwards but I do not ahve clear skin either. Should I stick to this or restart with a gentler retinol?
Dear I see the results after 1 year.. You have to be continue.. Now it's my 2nd year using tret.

@@explorer4563 after 20 .. I think it's safe.. But use a little pea size amount at the beginning. I use pea size for at least 6 month. First month I use only one's in a week the 2nd mnth twice nd then 3 time. Now I use 3 time in a week. It takes time. Nd I'm gona use it for my whole life

yupp ... retinoid is used as a counteractive for hormonal acne and have been used for teenagers for a long time ... it's just in late 20th century that it's anti aging benifits were found and it was trademarked for aging or mature skin ... U can and u should trust ur dermat 😄

Morning: i wash my face with salicylic 2% acid face cleanser, following with niacinamide serum and sunscreen...
Night: wash my face with mild cleaner(i use dove soap)/*don't need to use salicylic facewash twice a day , make it once in a day*/ and following with niacinamide serum and glycolic acid cream with aqua soft moisturizer.
Alternate night: cleanse with dove soup, niacinamide serum, and then aquasoft moisturizer, adapalene gel .

Can we use j&j retino a 0.5% (tretinoin) without prescription? (I have been using retinol for more than a year now) I have invested in high / expensive rets however started following drugstore trets (one mentioned above . Started with 0.25 and now on 0.5) to save costs. Pls advise if the one I am using is okay ok or I should switch back to retinols ?

You font's have to be a certain age to use retinol, at least if u use it for acne. For anti aging effects I would recommend mid 20s
