I don't recommend watching a ten hour tutorial, always learn only what you need. This is the easiest way

Plus they dont know how coding even works sometimes. Remember when Khorra was based on damage 3.0 and they werent supposed to release damage 3.0 until AFTER khorra? Surprise, surprise. It wouldnt work and they had to change khorra... And again with revenant's melee. It was based on 3.0 and guess what? Melee 3.0 didnt drop until like 6 months later, so thats how long it took to get his melee...

20 minutes down the road, at the end of the video, I'm happy I invested the time to hear a calm and honest opinion without hyperbole or polemic clickbaiting/subscriber hunting. As someone that has been with Warframe since 2012, and close to DE back when including visiting the studio, I do feel a lot of sentiments and fears of way back when reflected. The one thing I do hope is that someone at DE takes you for serious and takes it somewhere where, as Steve likes to call it, it becomes "internalized". Thanks for the effort.

  • @T3hUltimateGameFreak
    @T3hUltimateGameFreak 5 лет назад +44

I can really boil my disagreements with comments and this video down to an essential point: the complaints that I have read are mainly highlighting surface level problems with with the true issues lying deeper in Warframe's core. Keep in mind, I am an MR26 player that's been around the block for about 6-7 years. I usually game with real life pals and avoid meeting new players online. Therefore, the following opinions may reflect these and other biases.
Firstly, while I understand that hunting prime parts has changed dramatically with the shift to relics, I'm not sure why players are troubled by the lack of challenging void missions. The option to open relics through an increasingly challenging Defense or Survival mission is still present. I'd argue the real reason that many players make this complaint is that there's no appropriate compensation for participating in endless variants. Players (myself included) choose Captures and Exterminates, as the video stated, because of their innate efficiency. If you wish to live out the good ole days, you can always get some pals together and try a Survival mission with Axi level relics. These missions can still get mighty chaotic and, in the midst of the chaos, even CC frames can gain a resurgence in usefulness. However my point is that I don't think the Relic change is entirely to blame - I personally prefer it over the old system for a number of reasons I won't get into here. But rather, the fact that there's no innate advantage to attempting long, endless missions is a huge problem. A shift to how rewards are offered in endless missions (and in general, not just with regards to relics) would go a long way in encouraging high level play.
Secondly, while raids were removed, they were (IMO) effectively replaced by Eidolon hunts. These boss battles were a but clunky at first, but offered the same cooperative experience that the raids presented. Sure there's a meta regarding optimal frame picks, but truth be told, raids had that very same issue. However, the best part about Eidolon hunts are the fact that you can improve not only your team's builds, but your ability to coordinate and strategize. Hunts also offer players who wish to go against the common grain to develop quirky strategies with alternative frames. The sheer number of extensive Eidolon hunting guides is evidence to my point. My group of friends will almost always return to Eidolon hunts even if we don't particularly care about arcanes, just to try out something we read or a strategy we threw together. That said, I'd argue that the reason why Eidolon hunts have offered so much depth is that they are innately difficult. You can't just toss your favorite frame at it and hope for the best. Soloing is possible but only with the right load out, and it could never be as efficient as a finely tuned group. And if you want an even greater challenge, your team can attempt Tridolons with the chance to obtain platinum arcanes, which can dramatically improve your end game builds.
With that in mind, while I agree we need more content like this, my actual point is that the core gameplay itself should adjust it's level of challenge and offer multiple difficulties to encourage cooperative play naturally and bring back the motivation to strategize based on game type. To survive long endless missions, you absolutely had to coordinate and synergize with your team. Eidolon hunts naturally enforce a need for strategy and cooperation because it is difficult otherwise. Additionally, the difference between an efficient team and a newbie team is dramatic enough to instill a need to experiment and explore new options, encouraging true cooperative play. 5x3 runs still fascinate me and teams are always pushing that boundary with new strats and loadouts.
To empahsize my point, I believe it's a mistake custom cater new end game content to force cooperation - instead, adjust the game you already have to offer unique benefits to cooperative play and strong loadout synergy. Otherwise, with each batch of new content, the majority of the playerbase will blaze through it, develop a common meta, and burn out in a matter of weeks. I think we can mostly agree on this point.
However, my (possibly controversial) opinion is that it would be a mistake to spend excess effort on bringing back Tower missions and Raids right away. There's plenty of variety in game modes now - rebalancing to bump up the difficulty for each of those game modes in reasonable ways and offering appropriately scaling compensation would be a better option to broaden the spectrum of available mid/end game content. As I've seen in the past, bringing back old content, while it sounds good, generally doesn't solve the root issue and leaves players disappponted because it wasn't quite as good as they remember.
Finally, we need to understand why DE has been focusing on shiny new updates that no one asked for over rebalancing and improving old content based on user feedback. Difficulty changes have been on the table for quite some time if you follow devstreams but you can't simply dedicate your entire staff to that end. Think about it: when comparing a massive scale rebalancing effort or system overhaul against a shiny new update with new content, which would be the most unanimously agreeable to the playerbase? Also, what's less risky? To those that might choose the former, I'd argue that unless you strike gold the first try, you'd assuredly stir your player base to the point where your income would dramatically fluctuate. It would be a hard sell to management and investors. Plus, time costs for large scale changes that affect multiple gameplay systems are quite substantial. With nothing new to attract players and investors, you may not keep your income steady enough to support such an endeavor. Finally, by now we have to realise that many players don't appreciate change as much as they claim to desire it so a widespread negative opinion of an extensive update could alienate players and result in the ultimate downfall of the game. Going all in on such a strategy is a huge gamble.
That said, the prospect of shiny new content will always be a priority because it looks nice to investors and players alike. If it fails, the player base still has all of the old, unchanged content to fall back on and they can simply fix the new content until it's in an acceptable state. But DE knows change to core gameplay is necessary and offers a balance - a few core gameplay revisions snuck in along side new updates at the cost of a slower release cycle. Melee 3.0, mainline updates, upcoming challenge adjustments, reworks to existing frames and systems - they're all in the works, but none of which are really enough to keep player attention on their own. I mean, could you really imagine presenting an overhaul to the core damage system or a new difficulty setting as the centerpiece to a crowd of excited Tenno at Tennocon? That would be a PR disaster. DE needs shiny because without shiny, attention will inevitably divert away from Warframe to the new hotness and revenue would stall.
So what should be the takeaway? Don't rule out the content we currently have. Emphasize difficulty and reward scaling. Make it easier to access more difficult content - i.e. we shouldn't have to play 40 waves of defense before gameplay gets exciting. Make difficulty a setting or offer new twists on existing game modes to encourage cooperative play and improve drop chances for rarer mods and bps to compensate. Don't simply add new end game content to Warframe - evolve Warframe as a whole to naturally introduce difficulty with scaling rewards so that players can discover their own end game. Finally, as players, we should accept the fact that change will be gradual. Many of the improvements we suggest are not overnight changes. They affect a game of this complexity in ways that we can't possibly fathom without perusing their code base. Change of this scale is difficult and needs to be supported by low risk content.
If you read this far, thanks! This was just my take on the matter and I always appreciate reading feedback and alternative opinions (though I don't often post replies).

Thank you and i agree with you. But there is also the point that people have been asking for better rewards for long runs for quite some time now. And they do nothing about it.
Although, I think/know (i think they have talk about it) they are working on a way to fight high lvl mobs faster (also wasn't arbitration suppose to do that as well??), just hope doesn't arrive to late. People can't wait for ever. :)

The issue is that is takes content like Eidolon and Fortuna to refresh the game and stop it from becoming stale, where as a game like Path of Exile has a 3 month season cycle where everyone knows that every 3 months there will be something new to return to, something that you can see them trying to rectify (and missing the mark completely) with Nightwave.

Seasons are what makes PoE (and any other game/MMO) the worst, because it's just a building simulator (in PoE's case) for 2weeks +- and has nothing more to it after reaching max in that time. No special feeling that you reached something, got a crazy rolled item and are then much stronger, faster in clearing content than others.. No, because it's only a season and you know that progression gets "wiped" anyways and you'll never play with that ever again. So why even bothering? Especially when you feel like you play alone in a offline world because you play just around yourself and don't have this "competing" feeling with and against others which keeps you pushing and pushing even the hardest and most tedious stuff which feels the most rewarding after you did it and somehow got through it and got what you wanted! PoE is great but also really really boring and niche and not fun for long, and Seasons are the main reason! For a small solo game to play casually, sure but for MMORPGs? This would be THE Nightmare

As a newer player with a few hundred hours, I know I'm not nearly as knowledgeable but I'd like to add my two cents:
I think you touched on a really important point when you spoke about the prime trailers. As I've been playing through the game, I've noticed the way the more modern aspects of warfame are all "thing" centric, as you mentioned. I played through Plains and loved the story behind Gara, this badass frame that existed years before. I played through Fortuna and learnt about Garuda, this frame that...is. I think DE have neglected the story of their game in favour of the stuff of their game, and I feel that is unfortunate, because I really enjoyed all the stories and lore and all that depth that came with quests and whatnot. I was disappointed when I went to look at these awesome prime trailers, only to find there was like, three or four.
As I said, I'm new, so I don't have the depth of knowledge you obviously do, but to me, my favourite parts of the game are the ones where I feel a part of the world, rather than when I feel like I'm just playing a game to get the reward.

It's interesting to hear things from an older player's point of view. As a relatively new player, I'd say I still experience most of the things you say made Warframe great. I'm one that generally hates playing with random strangers, but Warframe is the exception. Nothing is better than seeing a full team of unique frames, and have conversations in the chat. As for gameplay wise, I don't really know what to say, as I haven't played most of what you mentioned. Coop however, is still alive and kicking in the lower ranks.

I started mid 2017. Sunk almost 1000 hours in half a year with PoE and everything. Now at 1800h. I didn't know about the old void key system, but now you talking about it.. it seems so much better than what we have now in every way. And watching through this whole video.. realized I share your reasoning for stopping playing the game. Got to MR25, while somewhat playing the game every now and then. Started feeling burnt out with the classic "I got nothing to do". But now that you mention the playing with your buddies..It wasn't the lack of content that stopped me, it was, as you said, me going into the missions alone, nuking the places, getting what I want as efficient as possible and then be done with it. Then show it off to few buddies that I still had left playing the game. Even Kuva I did alone, cause usually the squad you got, was people as clueless as I was my first time there (not blaming them), or hosts that were so bad that it took more time to transfer out of your frame than actually get to the kuva. And I do regret not playing the raids more when they were a thing. Tried them for the first time when they were announced to go away. With Slivarito's community. Yes, they weren't the most advanced raids out there, but doing them with a massive group, with him and one another guy trying to lead us all, clueless and overwhelmed.. I did feel like one of those baby excaliburs people make memes of. And that experience did get me excited to wait for next time he'd do them. But either way, Flynn, you are the one who gets newbies into the game. I was following your beginner guide very strictly, when I first started, and that did bring me into the game. I had tried Warframe before, but was very clueless and lost till I found your videos. Wish you enough strenght to keep going.

I think that this game kind of struggles with an identity problem. It doesn't know if it wants to be an immersive co-op experience, a grinding/farming game, a single-player tailored experience, an open-world exploration game, etc. There's gotta be a way that they can strike a balance between single-player elements and co-op elements to make it enjoyable for all.

This resonates REALLY strongly with me currently.
When the Nightwave event kicked off I felt like I was having fun handling some oldschool missions/challenges with friends. Weeklies like, "Survive for 60 minutes not using life support on the Kuva fortress" felt REALLY fun and brought back some thought to builds and working with a team. Granted, I fell out with Nightwave due to it feeling more like a job than a fun gameplay loop grind and making me feel anxious over missing out.. which any game you play to relax that gives you that feeling isn't a good thing in my opinion..
Regardless, there was a moment there where it felt like Warframe again and I think that's REALLY what the game is missing for those of us with years and years of time put in. It, as you said, is what really drew me in and kept me so addicted. Talking to friends and clan mates to get builds together, optimizing them and going to take on something like a Tower 4 survival for an hour was a blast as you really needed to rely on each other earlier on in the games life to complete the drop rotations you wanted. Even the pride that came with just surviving that long with friends and not getting what you wanted/needed was a ton of fun. There was a compelling challenge in place and you felt as though you were going against the odds by continuing.
Looking at that now it really kinda makes sense as to why I get on then jump off after doing a few things. I don't need anyone and that REALLY takes away from the experience IMO.

As a primarily solo player for ping issue, I actually like that it allows solo completion of any content instead of the forced coop of trials back then. It makes the game casual that I can randomly pop in and enjoy for a couple of minutes, and I don't have to plan my life around organizing groups for the coop.
And, as a successful trader with enough plat to never have to grind for anything, I still enjoy playing random content, even though I don't have to, and I fully know that grinding is a lot less efficient than trading. I love especially love playing kuva flood and the hard axi fissures (such as aten, mithra) because they're relatively fast and offer quick challenge that I don't have to wait to scale.

For DE to stay independent the way it currently is - not brutalizing its staff with crunch etc. - it has to stay at a scale where they have to single-thread everything. If they resource a huge project like Railjack, everyone has to drop everything to work on Railjack and other things are done parttime (or frozen). Solutions to ongoing issues will usually be simplified systems that can manage themselves, e.g. Void Relics

  • @TheNeoDaedalus

I started relatively recently and I have to say that the most disappointing thing to me were the primes. Not only do they feel obligatory, since they are a direct upgrade to the normal frame (and I don't want to waste plat on reactors (or, god forbid, umbral forma!) on normal frames), they also feel like a chore and a grind, rather than a goal to work towards. Tus, despite the relic system being some of the most interesting systems I've seen in games in general.
That being said, there is a lot of incredible content in warframe. I've even done such a thing as capturing my first eidolon solo and the preparation and effort that went into it were well worth it, as it felt really rewarding.
That being said, I am starting to feel something I quite well feared: the game is becoming a checklist of things to do. Get that item, farm that mod, build all primes from this rotation etc. Maybe lacking a sustainable goal for players?
Now I am trying to focus on what I find fun about these elements on their own terms and not for their rewards and am at this point still undecided, but who know what will the state of the game be in a couple of months.

    1. Nearly all the content developed for Warframe within the last couple of years has amounted to "collect x amount of all these resources and build x amount of this stuff".
    2. Open worlds took nearly an entire year to make. It felt fresh at first until you realized what you essentially had was a big sandbox with the same enemies you fought before, coupled with several minigames you would wind up doing for the sake of grinding ad nauseum.
    3. Every new game mode is more or less some variation of an already existing game mode and the reward pool for nearly every one of these modes is shallow and padded with trivial items you can receive elsewhere. I find myself usually getting the cosmetics and mods offered in the reward pool and then totally ignoring the mode forever because by then I'm sick of the redundancy.
4.One thing really bothering endgame players is that there is simply no satisfying way of accumulating the resource "Kuva". You either have to play several drawn out missions where you baby sit a stationary vacuum that pulls Kuva out of hammerspace (and sometimes seemingly from nowhere), wait almost a half minute between sucks, and then extract. Or, you could play Kuva survival, which is boring and sucks and the Kuva doesn't scale at all or pay out what could be seen as a satisfying amount (so why even play it?)

Hearing what you said about acquiring new types of gear such as Rivens just gets me excited because then I’d have a reason to have all these great builds and frames and weapons other than just breezing through the sorties and ESO. I had fun when the open worlds came out but after a few hours I just didn’t care for it I had to really force myself to get that high tier loot and it just didn’t sit well with me. But despite that I still play this game everyday I love it but I just can’t play for too long because I’ll get bored of it or just can’t find something that I’d want to do and feel accomplished as before. To start with, thanks for all your videos, they have been a great help. Without them I`d have been utterly lost on the game.
I am MR10 / 300 hrs in, still enjoying WF except the Nightwave stuff.
My feelings about coop couldn`t be more different, WF is the first game in about 20 years where I prefer playing with people over solo.
I think it is well suited for players who like relaxed sessions with randoms, but likely at the cost of players who are looking for team/clan challenges.
Relics ... for me they work well as encouragement for coop play. Allowing to pick the other player`s rewards is quite a smart thing imo.
Of course I never saw the old system, so I have no comparison, just saying as a noob I like the Relics.
As for WF not being rewarding enough at some point, isn`t that kinda natural? At least I don`t know of any game that can`t be played to the point where rewards become kinda meaningless, where you have "outleveled" the content. Unless you constantly add better gear and more difficult content this is bound to happen.
For new players WF rather seems like a mountain of content (albeit repetitive), almost impossible to ever climb the top.

Thank you for speaking respectfully. It is really hard to understand other people who disagree with how warframe is moving forward with the hate/vitriol they are spewing and give them any form of empathy or sympathy. I think that anger they have is actually making it harder for any changes to occur. You finally explained an issue that very old vets have and I can understand that in the context you explained. It makes sense and I agree that DE should put some effort into seeing if there is a way to "tweak" what is going on in order to not alienate further a large part of their original base.

  • @rlferguson1161
    @rlferguson1161 5 лет назад +13

Sorry for the long post but,
    I completely agree.
I think the layers of grind are too deep in a lot of aspects. The relic/tower key system, the Cetus arcane (though they fixed that), kuva for rivens. Each active should be designed around what’s fun or interactive for the player and then build the economy around that.
Honestly I think the two biggest issues DE face are 1) a poorly structured foundation. DE has created an awesome game but like you sad in the video a MR5 with a rhino could runs trials. That’s absurd, imagine for a second, a level 20 guardian, under light running the Raid. DE has poured themselves into an amazing game but the major content drops of the last two years were seemingly made to replace or run parallel with the content that came before it. Continuing with the destiny comparison there are a few thing destiny has done correctly with the long running franchise. Most importantly is creating a core mandatory progression line that every player has to go throw to get to the “better” stuff in the game. It teaches the player mechanics, make them better, and prepares players for the harder things. Because warframe lacks this the game can’t/won’t get more difficult for the seasoned players.
    2) is power creep based off content drops rather than content difficulty. I remember a time when forums were filled with team Boltor vs team Soma arguments for being the best guns in game. Both weapons are greatly overshadowed by weapons that are out now. DE is always working on new guns and what not to add to the game but they are releasing weapons with stacked stats to get people excited rather than how to acquire them. Take borderlands for instance looking at all the dlcs in 2 and making a list of the best guns in the game there are guns from the vanilla game that are on that list. Because the best guns were harder to get not the newest released. Good gear needs to be earned not given if I’m not doing anything thing hard why do I need the best guns in the game? I don’t but if I want to do something hard I should have to go earn the gear not grind relics and sacrifice to rng or take a trip to my dojo.
I love warframe but I fell like it is on the decline. I hope they address some of their issue quick though

I can't be bothered to play anymore. Also as someone who's played since the Xbox release none of the new content excites me & I can't be bothered to finish my MR chase (quit after 24). They have greatly reduced the value of primes because of the new people whining about how hard it was to get one, so now you have 3 months to farm vaults, that on top of nerfs left Ember who used to sell for 800-1200p to ~150p

I don't usually comment in videos like these just cause I feel no one is gonna see it so why even try, but after playing this game for 120 days after a friend recommended this game for me I feel like I'm still just a beginner, I'm mastery rank 15 yet I still feel like a mastery rank 5, I have many issues with this game but the one issue that really bugs me the most is the fact that people see my mastery rank and assume I'm going to know what I'm doing, when in reality I don't know anything, and now I'm too scared to ask cause I'm scared of being mocked for being mastery rank 15 and not knowing what everything is.
The reason I'm such a high mastery rank to begin with was cause I saw one of my friends who played the game much longer than me being mastery rank 12 and I wanted to show off, another reason was cause I always got excited to see what new weapon I could play with now that I'm a new mastery rank, now the only reason I can think of to keep farming mr is not being locked out of rivens, which I also have a problem with but that's not my point, and the reason I'm even speaking at all is cause once while I was playing gara not too long ago I was called a disgrace and I'm not worthy of my mr and even gara herself, which made me stop playing her for a bit just out of pure embarrassment, the only reason I played her again was cause I loved her design and her play style.
The whole point of me writing this is because people see mr as skill and as a person who is mr 15 and doesn't even know how to use melee I find that very aggravating.

Sounds like the biggest problem is player mentality. Everybody just wants everything as soon as possible. This is why prime access is such a huge percentage of DE's revenue.
I've been playing almost 6 years, don't even have half the hours you do, am MR25, and haven't experienced burnout, because i don't force myself to play in a way that i do not enjoy. I've run into countless prople getting frustrated over doing the same thing over and over again, because they're so laser-focused on getting one particular thing, and they clearly dont enjoy that process.
DE adding unique things that nobody asked for isn't a problem. It's part of what's helped this game last so long. Things that i feel have hurt longevity are when DE lets broken things go untouched for far too long, maiming strike being the most recent example, and nuke frames/draco before that.
Any criticism is fair criticism, but i feel like a lot of it is in the same vain, and it's self-inflicted in a way

It's hard to pinpoint the problem because honestly the list is so long - big and small issues alike. It's also hard to say because I feel like the game is in a transitional period with the Plains and Cetus. Are they planning on making that the game once they have enough open worlds, or keeping it as additional content to the star chart?

yes, i fully agree with you. i used to play until they removed void keys and introduced relics. i came back to the game a month ago, only to find out that there's even less content for me to enjoy. i'm one of those players who enjoys long, endless survival, defense or interception missions. i remember earlier when you obtained a T4 defense key (i seriously hope it's the one), which could only be obtained on rotation C in intercepts - i remember i was so happy i got that damn key and i didn't even know what loot it contained. so we went in, we lasted for 60 (or 80) waves, basically the whole screen was trembling the entire time and so many enemies and that final wave was as tense and stressful, because a single death (of frost for example), meant mission failed. when we extracted and saw just how much loot we got, we felt like we conquered the game. C rotation prime parts were actually hard to get. i couldn't wait to play the game the next day, all i did was thinking about how am i gonna do another endless mission and get that loot... right now, as you have said, there's no point in running endless missions for anything other than resource farming. void is just a place for you to get argon crystals and defense missions are for leveling up. nightwave was a GOOD change from alerts and when i saw that 1hour kuva survival, i went in with my friend and we wiped at 50 minutes due to air, but now with the changes they want to present, not even that is good - reducing the survival time from 60 minutes to 30 and from 40 waves to 20. there's just no point in playing this. when i was nolife playing this, boltor prime meant something. it was hard to obtain and not everyone was running around with it. mastery rank meant something (i know, it's just a number of how many weapons you have leveled), but those players that were MR20 were actually really good at the game. i remember i wanted to get that MR6 for my Soma so badly. right now, i'm just bored. i have ignis wraith (just like everyone else), but i got it from the event. now you can get it for free or for some low amount of plat, forma it 4-5 times and it's an end-game weapon that can carry you throughout the entire game. not like you need its damage for the content that available... arbitrations were a good intention, but failed miserably, but not as much as open world and archwing

I have been playing WF for about 2ish years on PS4 and just restarted on PC. It’s now actually challenging and I’m glad I started over, but that doesn’t change the fact that the content is slightly stale after only 2 years. But how can anyone realistically expect a video game to be fun for 5+ years? That’s not fair, especially since it’s free to play. Look at Destiny 2, that was popular for a year or so and fizzled even as a paid game. The fact that WF is fun for several years is impressive, and can’t be said about most AAA games which are fun for around 60 hours and usually not touched again.

      @tsunamie1015 5 лет назад

Yeah, pretty much. While it would of course be amazing if the game could stay interesting and activly gripping for 5+ years (and I'm sure there are people for whom that is the case) it's just how things are. And it becomes and even bigger problem when warframe specific content creators don't choose to/don't want to take breaks from the game and want to/need to make warframe content for years on.
For a game like Warframe, for which it just takes time to make new content or make everyone happy with reworking old content, it just seems important to take breaks.

@@tsunamie1015 Good point. With how popular WF is I'm sure they are having difficulties keeping up with the overly-demanding community. Lots of veteran players complain (not offense Flynn) that there is no new content or that the new content is boring, but they are obviously trying their best to keep their long-term players happy and with the fact that they're a small company I'd say they are doing a great job. When I get bored with WF I move on to another game and re-visit WF which becomes fun again.
@iFlynn thanks for keeping up the videos, I really enjoy them and I hope you don't quit WF anytime soon!

    • @tsunamie1015

@@duuuuude1526 Yeah, to some extend (imo) it's the difference between content creators essentially having to play warframe, and players not having to play warframe for extended periods.
And yeah, they aren't that big of a studio, so comparing wf to games like PoE (in terms of new content releases) isn't really that fair considering that that is a top down game with more simplified graphics. Especially things like the cinematic quests involve a whole lotta mocap, voice acting, scripted sequences etc that just take time.

This video has made me very sad, mainly because you’ve reminded me just how much I miss void keys. I was initially excited for relics, but I’ve grown to dislike them more and more over the years, and to me, one of the main draws was the incentive to play longer runs - i.e. the longer you played with one key, the more rewards you got. It also gets even worse for me as someone who rarely plays fissures because I don’t like them, meaning that the grind is even worse.
    Previously, I would:
    - Farm the relevant void keys
    - Hang around in the mission with a squad for 15-30 minutes
-Repeat this until I got the desired part.
Whilst I did play the same mission a few times, I got 3-6 rewards per key, with the possibility of more if I stayed longer, making it feel rewarding. If I did a capture, I only got 1 reward, but if I did a longer survival or interception, I got several, it’s a no-brainer.
Nowadays, the grind for me is this:
    - Grind for new relic (can’t use backlog of old keys like the old system, I have to go out and grind other missions first)
    - Play 20-30 fissures for relics I don’t want, just to build up void traces to make the relics I actually want radiant
    - Load into the same capture mission repeatedly and still get common items, even with the relic being radiant.
In this system, I do not enjoy the grind, mainly because there’s a grind to get to the grind to get to the actual grind, and then once you start grinding for the actual thing you want, you have the looming fear that you may have to go all the way back to square 1 again. In the old system, I felt achievement when I got a desired part. In the new system, I take a sigh of relief and immediately log off, it’s just not fun.
I wish we still had keys...

I don't know why people don't like nightwave, I think it is great for players to get harder to get items pretty easily. I also disagree with your whole coop perspective, I think coop makes the game amazing. I love jumping into orb or the plains and just messing around with my friends it's so amazing. I feel like we the players need to create fun in this by taking a break from the endless hours of farming to just have fun. I also think we shouldn't have perse a reason to grind for something we should do it because we wanna try it or it sounds interesting it may not be practical but it's a way I like to have fun.

My issue is this comes across as if this is a new trend with de they throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks. Look at the game mode graveyard. Look at conclave look at lunaro look at archwing. But at the same time look at what did stick: the operater, open world and a handful of others. I see it as de will always be changing the game and the hard truth is that alienates the veterans. Difficulty is the best example. It's obvious that the looter shooter genre is appealing to a casual audience now. DE has seen no issue with removing the difficulty in Warframe. I see it as this: if you suddenly add a piece of content that is difficult then the players will bich about it: it's what they do, the problem is the loudest voices come from the smallest minority. A example is the wolf. He was difficult I enjoyed the challenge when he showed up and I wasn't ready. But the community was outraged by him, how does DE avoid alienating players without pissing them off?

It invokes that early game feeling of being overwehlmed but not out matched only instead of trying to figure what I'm doing and running around spaming exalted, I know frames strengths and weaknesses and I'm pushing it to the limit.

Right on point with the main critique: In a lot of content, other players are more of an annoyance than a welcome addition.
You just queue in groups to get more spawns or share relics, then race others to kill the mobs before someone else kills them and messes up your combo or your fun. The only exception is interception, where one person per tower is easier, but it's not really working together either, it's just working in parallel. If the game spawned one tower per player, everybody would just solo that too.

One very core concept really has to be considered here - no game lasts forever. Its great that there are people who have stuck around with a game for so long, and that fact is really a tribute to how cool this game really is. But let's be real - we burn out. We went through that excitement of just having built a new frame and maxing it out. After a while though anything is going to get old, outside of just the concept of playing with our friends. DE is completely correct in gearing the game to draw in new players with open worlds and flashy mission systems. That is how they are going to stay afloat as a company.

I mention to people that I took a break from Warframe a few times but I dont ever get specific about one time I quit for months, might have even been my longest time away from the game but I can't be sure.
I quit when they brought out Relics, I remember vividly being annoyed that, as I saw it, it was just another way to slap RNG ontop of RNG and it frustrated me so I dropped the game.
I talk about having fun with my friends back when I picked up Rhino Prime Access in 2014 and my friends were carrying me in the void, I remember little about how the game worked because I was carried so hard. But I do remember having fun with them in very long survival games in the void, the struggle to make it to a certain time for a drop, it was fun. I later came back to the game and I was stuck in that mindset, I'd forgotten about how relics worked and I was still wanting to do long survivals... now people just want to buy relic packs when a Prime comes out. :(
I'd personally love to see them bring back the old system (along side relics), perhaps with a higher chance of getting the items you want than relics *if you can last long enough in the mission* and maybe with drop chance scaling up when grouped with others.
The Wolf Hunt event recently was no different in regards to "co-op", it was easier and quicker to run it Solo. I know people complained about the legths of time required for Nightwave stuff, I agreed with that to a certain extent because the rewards didnt match to a 60min Kuva survival with noone touching the Life Support... I also dont understand how DE didnt see that as being a massive opening for trolls messing it up at the dying moments of the run (It was not a fun experience).
Ok, I will end this wall of text here, was fun strolling down memory lane even if a lot of those memories are degraded quite a bit. xD

Started wf a few months after fortuna released and have been playing from time to time, and I can't really relate to your feelings about the game now. Don't know if I'm personally really slow or something, but I was only able to play and really experience ~7-8 of the frames and ~25-30 weps with different mod combinations so far and it still feels like I am months (if not years) away from depleting the current content pool. In regards to your part at 18:25 about other players not wanting to play with other players because of gear/builds/skill/etc, I never touched the matching settings button so I've always been on public and the only players that I have seen flaming/getting mad at me, other teammates or each other were only players MR25+, so this to me seems to also be an issue affecting only the veterans/experienced players, I might be wrong here considering I don't have thousands of hours in the game but this was just something I observed so far.
I enjoy most of your guides and the rest of your content but your current problem seems to be surrounding only veterans, and after watching the full video, even tho it wasn't meant for players like me :D , I can only offer this advice: try creating a group/join a group if it already exists of people that empathize with this sentiment. Try to find some things that you all can agree on that you guys need, make suggestions and then vote on them (would probably be easy with things like discord that most veterans use anyway), then make a list with the most upvoted ones and send it to the people in charge of the game. I am sure they are gathering this feedback from all over the place anyway, but this would probably get things moving a bit faster in the direction you're intending.
GL :) and hope you can start having fun with the game again soon.

I've been saying this ever since they introduced the relic system. The Void Key system was FAR better.
It made The Void, Warframe's most beautiful and stunning location, into an amazing endgame area where you farmed for all the best stuff. I remember when i first made it to the void, i'd never watched any videos so didnt know what to expect, and was blown away with how gorgeous the place is.
Now with the Relic system, you're forced to go back to all the much less interesting tilesets in order to get prime parts. They dont even allow relic missions on the Plains or Orb Vallis either.

Brilliant video IFlynn - particularly your point about the lack of gamemodes that necessitate teamwork and community cohesion. I used to read wiki explanations of the old void key system and for the life of me couldn't understand why veterans always used to harp on about it and why the void relic system was worse. Now I get it - that system encouraged you to play with others.
I'm not a veteran by any stretch of the imagination. I've only been playing for a year - and funnily enough what drew me to the game were a bunch of reviews about the game - praising the developers for their ambition, commitment to new content, and relatively high levels of transparency and community engagement. All of which were being brought to bear on a free-to-play game. I should also mention that I spent years playing Mechwarrior Online - so I had certain (low) expectations for what a f2p game could be and what f2p developers could achieve. I was freshly burned out on Destiny 2 where I discovered that a developer could completely fail to learn from their mistakes. Not to mention the NoClip documentary on Warframe's development which really sold me on DE as a development house - no matter their faults or missteps, this was a group of people who were committed to creating an amazing experience. I appreciate DE for building an excellent PvE experience in a world where developers and publishers are obsessed with empty PvP. But unfortunately it's a solo PvE experience.
I'm a new player. Your videos in particular have helped guide my playing experience to where I am now. To be honest? I haven't come anywhere near exhausting the content the game has to offer (I have a demanding job) and new content (especially the open worlds) have always been a major attraction for me. Warframe easily has enough content - but for veterans and newbies alike I don't think it provides a strong enough narrative to play when the going gets tough. I think this is clearest in how weak the clan community is in this game. Even when I was playing MWO - as shit as that game is - the clan culture in that game was so strong that for many of us we played that game just to support the efforts of our clanmates. Warframe doesn't have that. It's an MMO style game that is largely a solo experience. Eidolon hunts? Zero communication necessary. Regular gamemodes? Zero comms necessary. Job has meant I haven't done the Orb takedowns but I suspect its largely the same. Nightware? Same old story.

Awesome to hear your well thought out and fair assessment, TBH it was your beginner's guide that kept me playing the game. I'm fairly new and have a lot to look forward to in the game still but I think you raise some important points that I hope DE will take into consideration, the game needs to have a better reason to play with others.

I couldn't have said it better. This video is exactly how I personally, and I think most of the community, feel.

totally agree,i also think there is another point u should've mentioned which is lvling up system , having to find a squad of players with specific frames to lvl up is annoying and boring and the game would be much better with a system where u gain weapons and warframes xp or whatever in each mission and have xp in your inventory,so u can simply use that xp to level up new weapons and frames instead of having to play with a lvl 0 weapons to lvl them up and so

In my opinion, Warframe starts to feel bland when they removed void keys, raids and the draco exp grind. Those we're the golden days of warframe for me when those things still exist because the game encourages you to cooperate with other people and socialize adding more experience to the game.
Remember when EV trinity is required for long missions and Frost for defense missions? Those kind of stuff feels like you're having a role in a game just like MOBA game.
I remember doing 3 hour void mission with my friends and it's very satisfying because frames, weapons and mods are not as overpowered before making the game more challenging. But now you can do same or even longer solo.
The only addition on Warframe I like right now is the story and the open world. The rest of content is meh.

*remembers Viver farming for syndicate standing back when it was introduced*
... yeah some stuff was just ridiculous but in a good (fun) way.

Hey flynn long time player 3/4 years and agree with you on most points , most of my clan mates drop in now and then but don’t play nearly as much as before , losing raids was a major factor because we all had to play together to achieve the goal , I miss the old void system too that was half the fun with the rng gods messing with you , I think they need to bring some of that magic back , more lore with new additions rather than just here is new frame and two new weapons good luck ! I remember a time when their was a new prime coming out and the hype was real ! Fingers crossed they step up , cheers for the vid
