You have the best omnibus coverage on RUclips. Keep up the good work. Your reviews are extremely helpful.
Thank you for the kind words and I’m glad I can help.
This is so heart warming.
I would never think that I would have any interest in the thing series until I saw your review.
Now I want this book.
My brother, thank you for the kind words and I appreciate you.
Tempted to pick this up. Ben Grimm was always my favourite F4 member.
It's (Finally) Clobberin' Time !!!
SO EXCITED, IM BOUT TO BUY THIS TODAY AFTER SCHOOL, AND THIS IS SORT OF MY FIRST TASTE OF THE FANTASTIC FOUR, FRIGGIN LUV THE THING 💜💕💜🤘💀🤘
God.. I preordered this back in June. Talk about taking their sweet aunt petunia time releasing this.
That DM is stunning. Not easy to surpass Byrne but man Wilson did it with that image. Of course, I prefer the spine of the standard but can't pass up on the Wilson cover. Overall great design and from what I have already read in floppies this is a fun series that I can't wait to see in omni form.
When I went down the Fantastic Four rabbit hole Ben became my favorite character in all of Marvel. I haven’t read FF in awhile since then. Your overview ignited my love back and I immediately went to buy this omnibus. Your passion for comics always gets me. Thanks for the always amazing content sir
My brother thank you for the kind words. I hope you and your family have been well.
It's a very weird ride for sure, but if you're a fan of ol' Bengy like I am, it's essential.
Omar, I will again say that I appreciate you commenting on the printer and paper quality. It's good to hear that this has what sounds like decent paper, so I will probably buy it, though I do dread the thought of getting another IMAK book because of the awful chemical odor their books have.
Thank you for the kind words and I appreciate you!
I received mine yesterday, and I did not notice any of that heavy odor that I have smelled in some of their other books. I notice that chemical smell much more often with their modern omnibus printings, must be something with the darker inks and heavier colors - for example, I also just recently received X-Factor by PAD and that book smells horrible and has the sticky pages issue. This Thing volume reminds me of the older Marvel omnibus from 10 years ago, much higher quality paper with almost no bleed through, no smell and high quality build. I hope this is the standard we start to see across the board!
@@brianjones8721 Wow, sounds great! The last IMAK book I bought was the Captain Britain omnibus and it stunk! It still smells a little funny, and the paper is very thin, which is a bad thing for a book with so many black and white pages. I felt so burned by my purchase that i said no more IMAK books. But from what you and Omar have said, I will buy the Thing. Thanks for the info.
@@DJDODSON99 I hear you on that, I also bought that Captain Britain book and was not happy. That one and the FF Hickman omnis were some of the worst offenders from IMAK, just terrible paper and a misprint in that Captain Britain as well!
Know it's your job, but thank you for all the videos the past two days. Hope you can get some rest soon, Omar!
Finally this is coming out. I preordered it back in August.
I remember buying The Thing #1 at & Eleven back in the day, so this is nostalgic for me. Thanks for the video, Omar!
Thank you for the kind words.
This looks really good. I’ve been resisting getting this, but I may have to stop resisting and just buy it.
I forgot that this series existed even though I probably bought it after Two In One ( a favourite title of mine) ended. I never forgave Byrne for splitting Ben up with Alicia. For me his relationship with Alicia was a fundamental part of the character.
Ahhhhh man.... I have been holding off on this one, HOPING it was a pass. You're making me want it. Hope it doesn't sell out too quick, 'cause we're in Christmas season, and funds are tight!!! Great coverage, Omar!
QuestProbe! Wow I thought that was completely forgotten
MAN, THIS IS SO COOL! ❤🎉
Big Thanks Omar 👍💜 I'll be ordering this Book from Instock this Week lol 😆
Nice review as usual.
I ordered the byrne cover which arrived last week
I do like hownthey included byrne's how to draw the thing from #2. I also like how they stuck the questprobd issue in.
BTW .... Questprobe was ment to be 12 issues, based on 12 installments of a game by Scott Adams. Only 3 computer games were released before the company collapsed. 4 stories were done, the 4th featuring the x-men which appears in manvel fanfare 33, so seeing questprobe in any omni's ix a nice way for people to see what would had been.
I do hopevthis sells well. And jsrvel would look at a 2 in 1 omnibus.
You gotta love blushing Benjamin. Nice extra issues with the marvel fanfare and graphic novel.
I'm currently reading FF by John Byrne and am loving it. Might get this omni.
Great review as always! Already ordered this book, can't wait!
I've only read the part where he's on Battleworld, and it's definitely one of my favourite comic sagas? Events? Not sure what to call it but it's one of my favourites of all time from Marvel. It's a nice dive into the Thing's mind with a bittersweet ending, and you really get to know Thing and sympathise with him. I also love how the first issue after he leaves the FF is him helping Rhino regain his humanity, works beautifully as an epilogue of sorts to the Thing's Battleworld saga
I like the DM cover the best.
My copy just arrived and I love it. The Thing has always had a place in my heart.
I was thinking of passing on this one but you sold me again! Seeing that Bernie issue was the icing on the cake! Sold!
I've never read this series and now I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks, Omar, great review as always.
Sorry -- couldn't concentrate on this review -- cuz I was staring at that DAREDEVIL omnibus in the background!!
Great coverage of this! I have all the floppies of what's covered in here. At this time ol' Blue Eyes was my favorite character! It's a quite a weird and strange ride. If you're looking for hyper action look elsewhere, but if you're looking for a deep-dive into the "idol of millions" psyche this is the collection. I'm wondering if the MCU's Fantastic Four movie is a hit, and Bengy is a fan favorite again, will this matriculate in value?
I usually go for the DM cover, but have to go with Byrne this time.
I’ve been waiting for this !
I think I’ll pick this up today
My copy is on its way from OPB! I had to get the standard edition, I'm an unabashed stan of (most of) Byrne's work.
I want this omnibus and the Luke Cage omnibus! The thing is such a relatable character and I bet Luke Cage is early series was quite adventurous and funny.
I have received my copy and I'm looking forward to re-reading this for the first time since it was originally released. There was a time when Thing was as popular in the 70s as Wolverine was in the 80s. Little disappointed my favorite issue of the series, #7 against Goody Two-Shoes, wasn't highlighted but I recommend every one to check it out for a good laugh! Assistant Editor's Month was gold!
It was on sale Amazon recently 😊
I'm really hoping for a Secret Wars II omnibus reprint at this point watching this video.
always wanted an omni for ben. Just the whole series would've been better, than the graphic novel. Thanks, for the review, Omar.
Intrigured by your review Omar, as have never read the solo Thing series and it sounds interesting
The reproduction is beautiful. I have some of the original issues, and the difference in colouring etc is night and day. I think Marvel Two In One was replaced by this title due to Byrne finding it increasingly difficult to come up with logical/valid reasons to have guest stars in every issue.
I have a soft spot for the early issues because they were some of the earliest Marvel stuff I read back in 84 in the UK reprint titles.
I would like to get my mits (as Ben would say) on this item but it will have to wait till finances allow.
Kinda interesting that they didn’t collect Marvel Two-In-One first.
It could be because Two-In-One would need two or three volumes to collect, whereas Thing is a one-and-done. They may even be using it to test the waters for a Two-In-One volume 1.
@@bungleist1 That makes sense. Hopefully this will sell enough so we can get Two-In-One!
Great overview, this sounds fascinating!
Nice
👍 I plan to get this very soon.
Omar is so rich that he buys any expensive omnibus anytime he wants to.
I wish.
No barf detected. This a good one.
It seems like the same kind of paper stock they used for Peter David’s Incredible Hulk, which I happen to prefer due to its thickness. But it seems like they’re only using that kind for older releases, like pre-90s stuff.
Its omnibussin time
@24:41, was the spine split? I plan on picking this one up. Gotta love The Thing! I am not sure what they were thinking with that purple cover though. They really could have worked some beautiful Orange magic there, it's too bad.
It looks that way on the video but no it’s not. And yeah I wanted more Orange tooz
👏👏👏
I have to get this!!
I had decided to skip this but now Omar went and sold it for me. Damn you!
I’m so sorry. :)
Not showing letters pages like some other Omnibuses. More like The New Mutants and Power Pack and some others.
If this had been a Marvel Two-In-One omnibus I'd have bought it in a heartbeat. I just don’t care for Thing in a onezy
I have wondered why Johnny was marrying Alicia and she was not Ben's girlfriend still. Now just have to find out why Johnny did not have Crystal for a girlfriend anymore.
COOL!
I'm curious, you said the Price is $125 is that what you actually pay? I'm from the UK so $125 =£100, but from where I buy my books this Omnibus is £69:63 or $86:64, with free shipping, which is a heck of a price difference. So what do you guys actually pay for these books?
No, we rarely if ever pay the standard price. Most buyers go to places like Cheap Graphic Novels, Walt's Comic Shop in the U.K., InStock Trades, Organic Priced Books, etc.
@@MastermindAXL I mostly use Speedy hen here in the UK, Technically we are no longer part of Europe which is why Walt's comic shop can use that sting, because they certainly are not the cheapest place to get books (oops mustn't speak ill of the sponsor), Speedy Hen is great on prices and never charge shipping, on extremely rare occasions even amazon can be cheap ( just got Joe the barbarian hardback for £2:75 from them ), but only when the planets are arranged just right.
@@beastlaz You might want to check out Forbidden Planet too - Speedy Hen is usually the cheapest, but sometimes FP are cheaper than either them or Amazon, particularly when it comes to Epic Collections. For example, AMS Epic #24: Invasion of the Spider-Slayers is £25.34 on SH, a whopping £37.99 on Amazon, and £23.12 on FP. The only thing to remember is FP charge £5 shipping for every order, but you can (pre-)order 20+ books at once and only have a single £5 charge.
Amazon is definitely worth keeping an eye on though - I pre-ordered the Secret Wars Omnibus from them for £33.24, when it's £43.13 on FP and £43.79 on SH. I think a lot of other people noticed though, as it's currently sold out on Amazon even without being released yet :)
@@bungleist1 Oh yeah I know, I've been around a while, FP does have good prices but it's the shipping that kills them for me, I don't have 'brand loyalty' I check every online store I know, and even Ebay, and whoever has the lowest price gets my cash. I'm not at all bothered by spines or DM covers, there's no way I'd pay £30 extra just to get a different cover. My days of mooching through comic shops are long over, 'm in a wheelchair so most shops don't cater for that, dratted steps and narrow aisles. I was just curious about our American chums and how they pay
P.S. Hilary Barta is a guy. It's one of those names that used to be more masculine, believe it or not.
Are you serious? I'm like Omar, I thought it was a lady.
@@trishb.6398 I googled just to be sure!
@@hamzadawud wow. All these years. Thank you.
So does this make sense with only FF by Byrne Vol 1 omnibus before or would I need to get and read FF Vol 2 as well?
You’ll be good with FF1
Wow this book looks boring as hell 😴
