Love your channel. 👍
Poker nomad sounds like every 65 plus player I have played with. Wants 10 handed 100 BB games so the game plays at nitty as possible with as many free hands as possible. Same you loses ~60bb in a 2-5 game and that sets him off so much he has to leave the game.
The uncapped games play way tighter than 100 BB. People are willing to get ai and lose $200-$300. Very few people who talk about sitting 500 BB deep to run triple barrel bluffs have done it 3x in their lives.
@@VegasPokerNomad your just wrong man, its pretty muchh comical at this point; its literally what makes your videos entertaining. the higher you play, the better the players, a larger amount of the player pool are playing both top/bottom of ranges/ there's more bluffing, not just players sitting around waiting for the top 5% of hands opening 5x pre like most "live pros" do at 1/2-2/5
@@VegasPokerNomadI’ll say this: most casinos around me went from 9 handed to 8 handed after Covid, that’s what the players wanted was slightly more action and slightly more hands played, so the casinos abided - initially it was played 8 handed for spacing and plastic “dividers” (lol) and the players begged for it to stay that way forever, but every small poker club does 9 handed cash games. I think pros and grinders would want 10 handed but the average joe who actually makes the poker economy work would like 9 or maybe 8. Just by 2 cents - I agree with you I wish every game was 10 handed 100BB cap but I’m a conservative player - there’s a lot of recreational gambly players as you know and they would die if you capped them to 100 BB

Decent comps and you can get free hotel rooms all day at I think it's Bally's or something right across the street from Monarch. I would live somewhere on the outskirts of Denver. Golden or Evergreen maybe if I move back. I'd much rather live/play there than TX, FL. Currently am back in CA but the poker scene in my area has all switched to PLO
Really? I played there once because my flight got cancelled and I thought my table was extremely tough. It was Christmas Eve though so that might have something to do with it.
Trying to play at resorts world and Mandalay Bay is the first mistake. There’s no action/games or money at those places. Only Aria Bellagio and maybe venetian.
I was a local tournament player when COVID hit. The tournaments and the poker room closed down. Its like Vegas raised the limits because they do not want to be bother with locals or low limit tourists. They want bigger players that will play 3-5 uncapped. That is fine but my bankroll can not stand this action so I will sit it out for now.
SouthPoint is decent for tourneys. Cash game is generally tight, and most playing for their hours similar to mgm and Orleans, which makes the games boring. Bellagio Aria maybe Venetian 🎯
As a rec player I don’t like seeing the trend of low stakes games playing bigger. I want to travel sit at a game have a few drinks and relax. While I will play bigger on occasion I like the option to choose.
Are they really playing bigger when you factor in inflation? USD has inflated 35% in the last 10 years alone. When I first started playing 1/2, most entry-level jobs paid $8-$9 an hour. Now it's hard to find anything under $15-$16 in most of the US.
If you do make a stop here in SW Ohio, Hard Rock Cincinatti still has the rollover High Hand on Thursday Nights except now, since I returned from Vegas & meeting you @ Orleans, it now ends @ 12:30 AM Friday Morning & not 11:30 like previously, its 1-3 300 Max. There is also Hollywood Columbus which is 1-2 400 Max, Horseshoe Indy 1-3 400 Max, and others. All 8 handed by the way.
First off it’s commendable that you post these videos so I’m not gonna knock you that much. However in another video I think you said you prefer to play mon-Thursday or something like that. You’re in a tourist town. The weekend is far and away the best time to find good games. You should be sitting those games fri-sun….always. You mention some of the worst rooms in Vegas as regular spots you play. Wynn should be your jam but it seems like you never even give it a shot. 9 handed, tournaments that draw cash game traffic before and after, great staff and a huge waitlist for 1/3 and 2/5. Sure it sounds like their 2/5 wouldn’t be something you are comfortable with but their 1/3 is probably the perfect balance of min/max of 9 handed that you are going to get. Good luck on whenever you end up next but there are definitely things you can do in the future to set yourself up for more success on the strip.
I play each day of the week. I observe certain things happening some days and not others. I find fewer, but better games Mo/Tu than Fr/Sa. Yes, it's a town of visitors. I think the reason is that the visitors play each day of the week but the local weekend warriors only play on Fr/Sa. The reason is up for debate. But the fact that I find better games on Tu than Fr isn't. I don't expect to find a good game anymore. So I'm always thinking of where I'm going next. And Wynn isn't near much else. I did enjoy my 5-8 sessions there this year more than I expected. But when it's poor, it's not near a Monorail stop and it's not really walking distance to RW. Thanks for the good wishes.
RW is 100% walking distance from Wynn(Encore). We stay at RW a lot specifically because of how easy that walk is between properties strictly for poker. 10-15 minutes tops. Outside of Bellagio to horseshoe I don’t know if RW to Encore takes any longer than walking between any other two rooms in Vegas.
@@KnowBuddyKnows Where do you go after RW? Park at Encore, poor game, go to RW, poor game, then what? I bounce a lot. Aria, Bell, MGM, Bally's. 2 of the 4 have a Monorail stop. The "next" room is convenient. That's what I liked and why I didn't go to Encore much.
I mean the Venetian room is right there now with the move to Palazzo 🤷🏻♂️. Wynn/RW/Venetian have this stigma that they are far away from everything when they aren’t really. Sure is Wynn far from Aria or MGM? Yeah you can say that. But it’s strictly Aria and Bellagio combined traffic that makes some players think that’s the heart of Vegas poker. Let’s be real as well, you can park at any of the properties and get free parking either way your status (im assuming you are gold at MGM and simply signing up at RW for a player card gets you free parking). You just like the south end of the strip and that’s fine. I just feel like you’ve overlooked the north end poker rooms based on minimal extra effort to get them into the rotation as a regular venue. It’s just hard to make it as a “pro” in Vegas playing 1/3 unless you are going to grind EVERY venue, good game or bad. Not saying you can’t be profitable but to make a comfortable living, I just personally don’t think it can be done. And yes I get it’s all subjective based on expenses. Still don’t think it can be done.
MGM games have always been terrible. Bunch of locals grinding hours for the hour promotions Match the stack did nothing for the game but entice players who r looking for action, and are disappointed and get none. Again it’s only Aria Bellagio and maybe venetian
Good video, honest as always. As a visitor I find the games in Vegas bad. I much prefer Cal, or New Hampshire. Think Texas maybe fine? I always thought that ones day to day life was much more important than vacations, etc., Again, Best of Luck
It seems like part of being in Vegas and playing poker, the comps help with housing/food expenses -- will that change playing in other parts of the country?
players at deep stack tables are typically going to play a wider range of hands, why not just buy in min, wait for dead money and jam. seems like easy ev
You win small or lose big, most of the time. And when it works, you're leaving, right? Because you want to sit as shallow as possible. People used to shortstack online a lot. I remember one guy in Wisconsin who did it well live. I don't think it's a great long term move though.
@@VegasPokerNomad I agree, not a long term play. That is just how I sit at games I perceive as way too loose preflop. I am defending myself as people always rip on anyone that buys in the minimum. I buy in 40 BB run it to 100BB, easy. Intead of buying in 100BB upfront (at my local game)
@@VegasPokerNomad you're a logical guy man but you're taking a very illogical stance on this one. Like, yiu just got that thought in your head and ran with it. There is no evidence to support the theory of them not coming back. What some other room did is not evidence. People having the ability to lie is not evidence.
Good reasons, but not sure why you lead with Mandalay as you rarely play there. I think 1/2 and 1/3 are identical, but that’s just me, you would know better, but I don’t see them disappearing leaving only 2/5.
That was the point. 80% of my Mandalay play since I returned in summer '21 was between June '21 and November '22. I really enjoyed it there and changes made it less attractive to me.

If you are looking for nitty 1/2 and 2/5 capped games, south fl should be looked at. I don't care what anyone says, I have spent a ton of time down there and I am definitely qualified to tell the world that south fl consistently has some of the lowest variance low-stakes games in the country. 5/10 and higher has a limited player pool of mostly wizards but definitely worth sitting at because you seem to get more rec whales randomly taking shots than you would in la or vegas
Disclaimer, I have not been down there in the last 9 months and last time I only sat at 2/5 and that was it. 5/10 appeared to be same regs w no whale in sight and I was only down there for a week. So my blanket statement about the state of south fl poker could be wrong. Maybe.

@@sonsofthesportsguy that's ultimately why ALL players quit/move on to other places/move on to other professions. You need to give Texas a shot. Best games anywhere. Action, fun, in experienced players and deep pockets. Plus Dallas is a much nicer city than Las Vegas !
I played 10 rooms out there in 10 days last year. The non-poker things make it unattractive to me long term. But I'll have more weekend trips in the future.
The reason Wynn is number one is because of 9 handed and they fill seats immediately. Obviously Wynn is better than everybody at everything else as well but the games are far far better than anywhere else.
Yep, it’s pretty much no.1 for everything. Cleanest room, good lighting, waitresses are tidy and regular - daily tournaments, range of cash games around the clock. Perhaps the only negatives are location on strip and lack of on site cheaper eats. The CVS/Walgreens isn’t far away though.

You can not be playing on 100bb tables and expect to make any money, especially if they also drop $2 for promotions. You need more chips on the table. I've never heard you mention playing at The Wynn. That's the best 1/3 in vegas, IMO. There's always at least $4,000 on the table. Go there at 2am on a Saturday, and it's REALLY juicy. There's no reason to be playing at places like Mandalay Bay if you're actually trying to make money in poker. Your game selection is hurting you.

Your recent videos have outed you as a Super Nit with a limited bankroll. These are the issues/challenges you are ultimately facing as poker has gotten tougher, and more expensive to play in. You want a talkative table, but you're quiet (as pointed out by numerous ppl who have, in fact, played with you)...? You want bad players, but not ones with more blinds in front of them? You do realize that going from 10 handed to 8 handed should actually INCREASE your profits if you are winning player (more hands dealt per hour). Just admit you are a super nit and the poker community will understand why you hate the games changing. Do not be mad because the actual gambling poker players are getting what they want.

It sucks. So I’ll play 2-5 and if it’s 7 handed or 6 handed. I’ll play 1-3. But they are playing a lot of 2-4-6-12. I’ll have to check that out. I only play in the winter time since I can’t golf. Love your channel. 👍
Glad you enjoy the channel. -- It happens a ton in Vegas. It happens somewhat in AC. It's very rare in other cities I've been to.
Poker nomad sounds like every 65 plus player I have played with. Wants 10 handed 100 BB games so the game plays at nitty as possible with as many free hands as possible. Same you loses ~60bb in a 2-5 game and that sets him off so much he has to leave the game.
Toxic much?
He's right @@apocalypsepromotions7676
Crazy Town - Toxic
Great song
The uncapped games play way tighter than 100 BB. People are willing to get ai and lose $200-$300. Very few people who talk about sitting 500 BB deep to run triple barrel bluffs have done it 3x in their lives.
@@VegasPokerNomad your just wrong man, its pretty muchh comical at this point; its literally what makes your videos entertaining. the higher you play, the better the players, a larger amount of the player pool are playing both top/bottom of ranges/ there's more bluffing, not just players sitting around waiting for the top 5% of hands opening 5x pre like most "live pros" do at 1/2-2/5
This is a smart decision for you
Just to be clear you’re advocating for 1/2, 10 handed, 100bb capped games? Not sure I’ve ever heard anyone want this before
If you want the player pool to be large and to stay large, that'd be a good start.
Personally i hate 10handed, cos im a bit overweight and being all squished up like that is ZERO fun @@VegasPokerNomad
@@sportspokerguy3506 Yeah, I agree with a lot of that.
@@VegasPokerNomad I see what you mean where Vegas 8 handed is really 5 handed and elsewhere in the country it means 8 handed - I’m elsewhere I don’t blame you for leaving, very beatable games in Texas Florida Atlantic Coast, Midwest etc.
Blackhawk, CO at Monarch Casino is the best kept secret in poker imo
Guys at the table were just talking about that last night.
I play there. Only about 6 times a year. I live in Breckenridge
@@LookOutside... Nice. I spent last year in Keystone and played full time at Monarch. Considering moving to like Golden or something for an easier commute. Got so tired of that damn drive
@@VegasPokerNomad It's a literal gold mine. Hardly any grinders, and the few that exist aren't good up to the highest stakes.
Comfort is the enemy of progress
March Madness, tje first weekend m, is a magical time in Vegas.
Even though I do not do sports betting - been to Vegas a few times during March Madness and the energy is at another level.
So are Saturday and Sundays during football season.
Horseshoe has almost been in the new room for 2 years now. Lol. You never played at aria anyway.
Trying to play at resorts world and Mandalay Bay is the first mistake. There’s no action/games or money at those places. Only Aria Bellagio and maybe venetian.
i played in new york state not too long ago, holy crap... the 1/2 game played like 5/10... tons of maniacs calling down super light
Can't really blame you for leaving Las Vegas...it's too expensive, and you can find better games elsewhere. Good luck!
For lodging, it’s way cheaper
Thanks for the info.
Big news!
New Orleans (Harrahs) and Miami! Go there!
Maybe. Stay tuned.
Come play/hang at Cherokee in NC!
It might be in the cards.
This a good move as Vegas resident I’m not fan of it anymore either. Smart that you didn’t sign a lease that’s what holds me back
Why Council Bluffs? Seems like a very random place to go.
That is exactly the topic of an upcoming video. Stay tuned.
Take the southern route (FL & TX) on the way back in early 2025?
It might be the route I take to end 2024.
Games are always soft in florida
MGM games have always been terrible. Bunch of locals grinding hours for the hour promotions Match the stack did nothing for the game but entice players who r looking for action, and are disappointed and get none. Again it’s only Aria Bellagio and maybe venetian
Good video, honest as always. As a visitor I find the games in Vegas bad. I much prefer Cal, or New Hampshire.
Think Texas maybe fine? I always thought that ones day to day life was much more important than vacations, etc.,

I've heard of the poker clubs in NH. That's pretty far from me right now, but maybe one day.
It seems like part of being in Vegas and playing poker, the comps help with housing/food expenses -- will that change playing in other parts of the country?
Food was a nice bonus. But I can eat healthy and for cheap anywhere. -- Comp'd rooms will be very uncommon now.
I’ve always thought casinos needed a 1/1 200BB cap game, so it actually plays like 1/2 was intended - 1/2 is basically just 2/5 with the straddles etc
Linq had $1-$1 NL in 2015. It was so much fun. Most hands went to the flop limped and 8-way.

It's unlikely my "room rates" will be that low. But the games will be a lot better.
That's not exactly what I'm looking for. But thanks.
Disclaimer, I have not been down there in the last 9 months and last time I only sat at 2/5 and that was it. 5/10 appeared to be same regs w no whale in sight and I was only down there for a week. So my blanket statement about the state of south fl poker could be wrong. Maybe.

It's a coincidence. Not going for that or avoiding it for that reason either.
