For anyone curious about this, I worked for these dunes for 5 years. It is only $10 a night but you can only stay 30 days out of the year, and only 2 weeks consecutively with a 48 hour leave inbetween. This will include Northbeach and Oceano Campground as all 3 campgrounds are linked. Their system tracks your License plate. It's not like the golden days unfortunately where you could quite literally live out there indefinitely if you were smart enough Also you are correct in assuming you can camp out inside the dunes

Im in Morro bay now, but, when I first moved here, I had the exact same setup and did the exact same thing. I had a campershell on my pickup, wired in some deepcycle batteries with solar for my electricity and just stayed in Oceano Dunes as much as possible. It was such a cool experience! Just to share: I worked for Sundbuggy Fun Rentals right there. I learned that the owner started there the same way! He lived out on the dunes and started with 1 buggy that he would rent. Now he has a massive fleet. Thanks for sharing this cool video!
Thanks for sharing that story! I’m glad to hear others have thought up the same short-term solution to do something cool with their lives! I love Morro bay too. Yep, California beaches belong to the people. Though there are some beaches that are set as no camping. Pismo may go no camping because so many young people leave so much trash on the beach. I can’t imagine leaving trash on a beach. I don’t know what those people are thinking. When you’re off roading, don’t fly over the dunes at 50+, there have been so many deaths from crushed sternums because they land on the next dune that is going up, and slam chest on into the front of their bike at full speed. Also fourwheelers roll over on people out here because they go around the side of a dune at a steep angle. I had to go to the hospital for a surgery once, and they were like “Oh look someone who doesn’t have a dune biking injury”.
@@kanders7391 I agree that leaving trash is absolutely terrible… I don’t think it’s only people of a certain age, sadly. More that some people were never raised to appreciate this beautiful planet and all of its wonders in the way I was with a biology teacher as my mother… I will be making a video in the future, explaining all of the great and risky parts of enjoying the dunes… injuries and damaged vehicles are real, and most times, they can be avoided… I know that alcohol is definitely a part of the formula when things go wrong many times. Congratulations. My husband has not had a drink in 37 years. You'd be surprised what you can accomplish in nearly 4 decades without alcohol. He is retiring and sometimes talks about having a "dry-out" camp. We live in remote rural Alaska and he's a supercub pilot with a tricked-out PA-18 so he's got 20 years of experience doing remote construction, expediting for gold miners, hunting & fishing, etc. His idea of course is that once you are 100 miles from the nearest road... nobody is leaving camp, lol. No backsliding. There is an abundance of hard physical labor plus amazing outdoor and survival skills people can learn. Not to mention it's really beautiful out there and there are moments between Mother Nature's attempts to kill you where the view is spectacular. I mention this because you don't have to own land here to do it. All you need is a land use permit and a service like that would have no problem getting one. Another strategy is to use abandond gold mines. My 13 year old son is at a working gold mine 35 miles out right now and there is an abundance of really cool sites around there. There's millions of dollars of equipment, buildings, cook shacks and worker's quarters from operations that failed. It's a really tough go out there.
Wow! Thank you for such a caring and detailed message! I love the idea of the dry out camp and am obviously thinking of something similar. I just want it to be driving distance from a major city so access is not limited to those with access to more resources than many… nonetheless, I’d come visit and check it out, just for the experience.
Only one more reason sobriety is a good thing.

Born & raised in Alta Sur Califas, love it! 7th generation Alta Californian here never leaving & always living the dream.
@@Art-w1l8x California is the best. I love that it doesn't tolerate deplorables and makes them feel unwelcome here.
Love your stuff! I'm in SLO. Be down to see you soon. Love the vibe!! Peace!
I enjoy meeting people who watch my videos. HMU on IG under the same screen name. I'll be in SLO on Thursday getting some mechanical work done in the afternoon.
Thanks for checking out my vids and leaving some comments!
IMHO you goofed 🥴 posting this video! (Maybe delete it fast😁). You might get yourself tossed out and restricted. And a flock of others will think they can do the same thing too. Your limited availability JUST got WAY worse. I appreciate your life prospective though👍👍. Happy Camping 🏕️
It’s a state park, fully staffed with thousands of visitors a week… I keep all of my national forest sites and other discoveries a secret so they don’t get ruined like so many of my old spots in CO. Haven’t broken any rules. They have all records. Plenty of others have done this before me. They have literally reached out to me as a result of this vid and told me “good job, I did the same thing when I moved here”
I do appreciate the time you took to watch the vid and drop some positive vibes in the comments 😁 and I get what you’re saying, it’s just not quite as you assume.
Yes, away from the beer for us too we live in our Chevy Bowtie van in the Summer and then live in the van at Slabs City over Winter season, free camping, best weather and sunrises and sets each and every day🤩bless thanks for the positive vibes. Subbed
@@Wanna.Wander I was in Palm Springs at the beginning of this adventure. Wish I had a chance to check out slab city… somewhere to explore in the future 😊
Thanks for checking out the channel. I hope you find more vids you enjoy here 🙏🤝
Bravo! Good job! Keep going, I can’t wait to see what you’ll do.
🙏🙏 so glad to share the journey with you 😁
Cool man! Thanks for the info! We were in Pismo last year around Christmas time. I'll definitely check out this beach next time!
It’s a great spot to hang out! Here’s a guide I made if you need more info! ruclips.net/video/4mgougfXxEI/видео.htmlsi=LojSln2EPQCH8ToU
Awesome! Cheers!!
I have a 4wd wife and kids and drink lots of beer. Not far from Pismo. I love your take on the beach lifestyle. Sub'd!
Thanks for joining the journey with me! You mentioned drinking a lot of beer. Is that because you would like to change that habit? I’m just realizing the way I can make my bit of impact on the world. Still figuring out how I can help others begin along this path, but I can at least share some of what worked for me if you are seeking a new direction.
Thanks for the positive comment. It means the world to me 🫡
I'm going through a breakup and I have been thinking about doing this and you just gave me a better idea. and this is perfect for me and I'm a fisherman.
Sorry to hear that.
The worst things that happen to us can be the best things that happen if we make it that way.
I hope you take your journey wherever it may lead you… be as prepared as possible. Be realistic and get the free iOverlander app… I also use the “OnX Offroad” app… these two apps will help you find camping, bathrooms, showers, and stealth spots in emergency situations.
@BookOfMikeG Thank you. I appreciate the details.
Really good approach to the flow, giving back in a positive way. Keep it up!!
Thank you 🙏 I’m grateful for the people who share these positive vibes with me 😁
Thank you. i'm grateful for you. Sending lots of love & abundance.
Thank you so much for checking out my content and sending good vibes ❤️
@@BookOfMikeG Thank you.🤙🏻
Hey, thanks for the great advice. Looks amazing! What beach is this?
Oceano Beach
This is definitely inspirational. Thanks for putting this in the air.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Grew up in a bus. As a kid we would quite often park overnight at Pismo. We got in for free cause I worked a deal with ranger station that I would spend a couple hours picking up trash on the beach if we could stay the night. We never trashed the area, were as inconspicuous as possible for a 34’ purple bus to be.
@@michaelvarney. bro, that’s a great deal for everyone! The trash is the sad part about this amazing place. I love that deal you worked out!
Dude: Just spent 10 Days at Port San Luis along the road. Great place, cafes and people. You inspire me.
Port San Luis is the ultimate daytime spot for this life! There’s even a hidden public restroom and quarter operated showers!
Thanks for checking it out and leaving good vibes!
First time seeing your vids. Man what you talked about was awesome u got yourself a new sub
Thanks for checking out my video and sharing the journey. Welcome aboard!
Thanks!
Thank you for that! My second Super Thanks, first from someone I don’t know in person. I’m glad you found the video of value ❤️🙏
I just found your channel I like it you’re very inspirational. Thank you.
Thank you for checking my content out! I appreciate your kind words 😊
good for you man, I'm glad there are people take the leap and pivot in life. I am there now and considering different options. Stay safe and continue and consider buying land for $5-10K in different states and forests. I am sure you would enjoy it.
🙏 I try to approach life like a puzzle - define my desired outcome, then figure out how to use the resources I have available to achieve that outcome… if you’re considering a pivot or alternate lifestyle, the outcome of reverse-engineering your desired outcome could be of value.
I’ve looked all over… if I get this land, it’s because I could host gatherings to help men get sober and fit… it’s a half-day from LA and San Francisco, providing access to millions… I’m still seeking and searching… I’ve got places I really like in CO, where I lived for nearly a decade. I’m just sick of the Winters. Really don’t want to go back to the Midwest or South… this puzzle is exciting and interesting.
Nice content. My husband and I enjoy Pismo Beach and Morro Bay. We’ve been having a blast road tripping up the California coast. The most beautiful state.
Central Coast is pretty amazing, isn’t it?
Great video and content! Thanks bunches. And may all your dreams come true, sir!
Thank you kindly!😁
In two thousand seventeen me and my wife bought a travel trailer and we did this in new mexico, With full hook ups for ten dollars a night in the state parks. Absolutely.Beautiful but you have to move every 4-5 days to another state park. There are a few very close to each other near elephant butte.
I’ll look up Elephant Butte for my return Eastwards in a couple months!
With a bit of problem-solving, we can utilize these amazing spaces without breaking any rules or causing any problems… now, I’m about to buy land as a result of the money I saved.
Thanks for taking the time to check out my video and leave a comment about your adventure!
@@BookOfMikeG stop by truth or consequences NM and visit house of pain gym, they have an insane hot springs down the road. Must see

It is a super cool place. Pretty much the perfect spot for me.
I bet it was pretty cool back in the 70s!

I would also love to do some panning. I was just at a coin shop today!
If you guys want to chat more about some kind of collaborative effort to help people get away and get sober, hit me up on Instagram at the same screen name.
Thank you again 🙏❤️
@@BookOfMikeG Thank you for your kindness in return. Yeah, my husband's idea requires dough for sure. The miner who flew our son out spent $1,200 on the Cessna 206 charter. The boy is worth every penny, he never makes less than $50/hour as a crack mechanic and he gets a share of the gold when he is running the excavator out there.
