That first performance was coming from a master of rock! That man has a natural musical magic and a life time of practice!
Looking at him, I thought it was Midge Ure.
Not natural. Just practice.
@@petertrast both
A lifetime of practice may make you good but it WON'T get you on stage with a ROCK/METAL band! UNLESS, you start AND get recognized at an EARLY age(Teens or 20's). Just being honest.
You can see the joy in his face, his movements & the way he absolutely shreds!
Kenny, the first guitarist, is a man of few words! He let the guitar talk for him.
Kenny was very, very good. I also think Kenny was a professional guitarist at some point in his life.
Great stuff. What guitar was he playing?
It's really hard to tell if those sounds are his.
@@robgerety Looks like a Suhr Standard Legacy. Headstock shape is about right

This guy plays in a band in a pub not far from me. I’m gonna have to go see him. Superb guitar skills.
which guy, there is 3?
@@farty1000 all of them
All the greatest rock stars are nearly 80 now
Have seen a video fra that pub. This guy just LOVES to play and he does it extremly well 👍👍👍👍🎸🎸
You know you have potential when Simon takes the time to hear an original and get the real story
When I think about Jimmy Page being 76 and Jimi Hendrix would be 80 this year , I realize that this dude is not so old😂
It's only too late to fulfill God's plan for us when He calls us Home. If we are on this side of the dirt, it is not ever too late
✝️
Exactly I was thinking similar but everyone is always surprised but this guy is younger than all the still living greats
Albert Lee is 79 and still touring
What bug me is how they kept doing quick editing jumps,.. its pissing me off.
WTF? I couldn't enjoy it. 🤬

It's refreshing to see people with real musical talent who can actually play there instruments

Yeah really

Honestly ageism is a huge problem in the world. People think that just because you're old you become deficient and can't do things. Glad this guy is proving then all wrong!!! Good for him!!!
Same when you're young
@@jhaych Very young kids need borders simply because they have not experienced the world which can be harsh, older people have been there and done it.
Honestly the age is his benefit here. If he were 20 nobody would care. There are dudes all around the world doing this in their bedroom.
@@Danilo8208SS and yet none of them are trying to make something of it, or themselves. that's the difference.
Seeing that old man smile while rocking out put a smile on my face, he probably just achieved something he never imagined he’d get the chance to
This is a dude that's never stopped playing and learning. His passion lights the hall!
He can rock
Which dude?
I hear you but why here?
@RepentandbelieveinJesusChrist The Bible’s never wrong!!!
Bob Dylan is touring right now at 81. Paul McCartney is 80, Mick Jagger is 78, AC/DC is in their late 60's or 70's. Need I say more?
I am 73 young they are my age. We were and are with it

Love and compassion are necessities not luxuries without them humanity cannot survive. 🐾❤️🌈💕😔💖👣
Saw Bob Dylan 20 years ago and he sucked.
@@emersontayten maybe he's improved
All guitar players would agree that the playing was excellent, clean, and powerful from the older gentlemen. All the other players were great too!
Absolutely wrong! Rock guitarists are evergreen and young! As for exectution absolutely right!
I don't know why everybody is so shocked at the old man because he is just killing it on the guitar. Is it because he is old? Look at all the crazy rock bands that came from the 60s 70s and 80s, I'm 55 and I still love to rock out! In 1979 I was rocking out to AC/DC and all those bands, and I still am 43 years later! Just like old fella is.
He's younger than Eddie Van Halen was when he died (Kenny is 64; Eddie was 65 in 2020). There's a whole generation of 80s shredders Kenny's age.
@@MakoGo
Of course there is, look at Angus Young from AC/DC
People in the crowd are stupid thinking only men under 40 are able to do this.
Because of the way he dressed and carried himself
Modern society doesn't know much about rock it's somethinmg their parents and grandparents heard. There are thankfully still many that hear it and start to get into it.
Well of course he can play that! It was his generation that founded that sound!
That's what I was thinking, too
And he’s British. Best guitarists in the world.
@@kimjasso9953 joe satriani steve vai Edward Van Halen not British just “to name a few”👍🏻
So being from the same time period as a certain sound automatically means you can replicate it with an instrument? 🤔 I better dust off my Les Paul and try this out!

Kenny‘s smile is so genuine and utterly contagious!
Why are people shocked when ‘old’ people prove to ‘still’ be talented? He’s probably been doing this for 40 years, no wonder he’s good!
Right! I was not the least bit surprised when he shredded ..all of our rock gods are aging ( the ones we still have with us) and still rocking! They don’t have an age limit.
Nobody is really shocked there. They pretend to be shocked and surprised. These shows are cringe af.
Because no matter how much you practice and no matter how much experience you have, aging affects everyone's skill and reflexes and hand-eye- coordination the more they age. Even if mentally they are still super fast and smart and remember techniques, their fingers or hands may not keep up like they did decades ago
First dude was a seasoned guitar master and nailed it effortlessly! I really liked Hunter’s heart and his own song was very touching. That was a great redirect from Simon. Best of luck to Hunter, I hope someday Taylor gets you’re autograph my friend.
I love country music artists with talent. This artist has true talent. He brings out the beauty of country music. Country music expresses the hope, resilience , and romance of the American Spirit .
The first guy shredded it...nicely done

Love it!!! He absolutely killed it!!! 🥰♥️
What song was he rifting too? (Woo-ooh) song please?

Running Down A Dream by Tom Petty.
Kenny is the guitarist in my band and I have the pleasure of playing drums with him every week. He’s a beast.
Just saw Jeff Beck at 78. Still has all of his chops. If you are dedicated and passionate you can still bring it!
And in most cases, bring it better than ever.
Yes he is great for any age - astounding for 78 😯
I just saw him live also.
@Frankie Baker, Really you think? I mean it's only "Jeff Beck" you went to see, would you expect anything else out of Beck? Seriously, WTF!
He just died.
This was one of my favorite performers ever!!!!!
Kenny is from the generation of 80s shredders like Eddie Van Halen, so the licks shouldn't be surprising. But unlike a lot of aging rockers, he looks (and plays) like he's taken great care of himself.
Are we not gonna talk about how grandpa just slayed?! 😎
the correct term is "shredded". 🤘
Grandpa was there and grew up with it...people always judge the book by its cover, don't they?
His generation invented it... so... yeah. Not that weird.
I specifically came here for this 64=born1958, at 20, 1978... And then you have hair metal like 2-4 years later(1980-1982)...22-24 years old with hair metal, and metal started in 1970's.
@@tiffles699 what hair metal band came out in 1980, I'm old and I'm a little senile but I think your timeline is a couple of years earlier wasn't metal hair metal bands big like in 1984 to 86.. but what do I know I'm just a metal head that the grew up in the 80s and did way too much pot over the years
The guy playing Left Behind (his own song) blew me away from the very first second! Awesome! ☺☺
Same here. The cynic in me immediately distrusts something that good, and truly hope I’m wrong!
Agreed! He's got a crisp, sexy voice and he's very good looking . I hope celebrity and success don't rob rob him of his decency. He's incredible!
I’d have liked it if he didn’t throw on the fake country accent.
Was a setup. Good song , was his intention to play it at the onset. The Brian Adams song was part of the dialogue
If Hunter has more songs like what he wrote. He's got a great future. Great song dude!
Not saying it was a bad song, but thought it was more generic than the Bryan Adams song
He's def more talented than me. Not bashing the guy. Sounded good, but I've heard it before if you know what I mean.
Agreed
It was an act, they just used the karaoke story as a cover to promote this “undiscovered” talent.
@@gregormcclung I agree with you Greg. There's just never to many of those types of songs for me.
Cheerz to my friend Ken Petrie, great guy and amazing Guitarist! :)
Love his smile and guitar playing.
The first guy was AMAZING!!!!!!!! Go grandpa!
Kenny Petrie is an amazing guitarist. Love his work, been watching him for years! Cheers !
His Soul is pouring through that guitar 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Honestly, seeing Simon smile is satisfying... 😁😁😁
Simon’s ability to question and lead to get to the real person is unmatched.
I must admit that I admire Simon for this.
Well Simon is a performer too, remember, the Judges are all Actors.
It's an act, pre planned
I get a hint of screen played.
Shame about his facial expressions at the beginning, he's a worse actor than Amanda
That second song was really good.
Absolutely wonderful I love this song it's amazing! how're you Deborah?

The second guitarist own song make me goosebumb ...
In fact, this is the authentic rock generation..so nothing strange this middle age man plays the guitar in so brilliant way ...talking about the first contender 😊
This proves what I told my son's best friend years ago when I was listening to Seether, Korn, and FFDP, there is no age limit on rock.
Rock n roll never dies
ruclips.net/video/GVKnYUrZmQ8/видео.html
Shows how old rock and roll is! Amazing!
@Flynn Spunks he is younger than Simon too
Been following Kenny for years on social media. The man can shred and is an awesome guitarist! Love Kenny!
The second guy sounded much when he did his own material. Amazing how Simon has a feel for these artists.
1st guy sounded awesome, I wasn't sure what to expect. But many of the comments do spell it out. The guy grew up listening to rock n roll idols. I'd bet money he's seen some of the best rock gods live. It does take practice, skill, and talent to shred like he did, but that sound is the sound of his generation too. He's representing!
..
Very Kool
Probably been playing since was a twinkle in his daddy's eyes 👏👏👏
I was going to say the same thing
He's too humble to admit how good he is...
Absolutely loved the first guy. That's my favourite style of playing. Superb!
as a seasoned veteran myself my heart goes out to the first gentleman....he is proof that tapping is not an "age-thing"
Steve Ballmer is a man of many talents.
Lol
Keep in mind the “old” metal guitarist really ain’t no older than the greats from the 60s and 70s.
Correct.
same age as Iommi probably.
@@elonmust7470 same age as Madonna
The point was missed by you. The old guitarists can not be imitated. The younger folks are somewhat talented in old rock and roll jamming but can't get the same sound
as the folks from that older era
@@ceciliarivera8231 That is complete and utter nonsense..
Music is young and you are forever young! That is a blessing!!!!
Soooo clean... The playing is amazing
Guy can smoke it. Great! He is far beyond a lot of “the greats” that we mention everyday. He really enjoys himself. Relaxed and smooth. Great tone!!
Stephen Harris.Calm down silly boy.He seems extremely good,no doubt hes been in a few 80s rock bands but he is unknown for a reason. The greats are known for a reason. The greats dont just play great guitar THEY WRITE THEIR OWN MUSIC FOOL.
Really? You know this from one song? A song that really had no technical play involved? He only played styles that have already been mastered. The dude hasn't pioneered anything. Edward Van Halen was a pioneer! Try reading about how tabs had to be invented just to represent what he played, you know stories like that so you're actually informed on a subject before acting like a expert on the subject matter
This proves never judge a book. By it's cover. Who knew this gentleman. Can rock and roll. With that guitar. Props! For doing his thing.
Love that fuzzy tone, nailed it.
I bet the first guy was a headbanger in the 80's.. Love it!

As for the first guitarist, the older guy, never, ever, ever, judge a guitar player by their looks. That quiet dorky guy or girl you see walking the hall could have the soul of souls and in private might rock like you've never heard. And as you get older, that rock-and-roll kid in you never goes away.
I'm 63 and I'll take on any 30 year old as far as passion for guitar playing goes.
You make a good point. Passion doesn't have an age limit. 🤘 Rock on
Old folks have one advantage kids now don't:
They were young once, and saw all the best bands the first time around!
No one talked to me until we had a music class that the teacher let me shred in!! I was forever that kid that plays guitar really good. Lol.

@howdyfolks-jo7tc What does that mean pretty?
He so reminds me of of Peter Frampton now. They could be the same age. Peter always smiles when he plays it's almost like he is saying, "isn't this fun"?!!! There is such joy in his playing.
Wish that “Left Behind” song was on the radio. That was incredible! No doubt… top 20 contender if it was. Someone please find that guy & record his song. Amazing.

The First Guy playing ability is superb and clean as any guitar player can get♪♫♪
I know many older blokes (probably older than this guy) that play the same style. It’s just amazing for ‘this show’ but so many guys in their bedrooms can shred the same
Wow…he could be in any band he would want!
Guys smile is contagious, love it
Wow never too old.
I remember reading a story in a body building magazine years ago where they we're talking about this old guy that helped out during the competition. When the meet ended, he helped clean etc.
One of things they do is of course get the weights off the stage. The old man goes out on the stage, and grabs the final winning weight with one hand, and some other stuff in his other hand and carries it all of the stage like it was no thing at all.
Now that is a guitar player. Wow 🇨🇦🙏❤️
Nice to meet you
