Absolutely brilliant as ajways Fr Brendan . The Holy Souls are critical to us getting to heaven ourselves. They are forever interceding fir those who prsy for them.
When we help the holy souls enter heaven,they will be soooooo grateful that they will be prostrated in the presence of God until we arrive in heaven one day.I love the holy souls,Ive requested 100s and 100s of Masses for them. I pray the office for the dead every day for the last 10 years.
Another very timely and highly relevant discussion, thanks Father. My tuppence worth. When I visit the mortal remains of a family member / friend, I never think in terms of "one upmanship". Instead, I know that although that person is physically dead, that their soul - their consciousness and conscience - is alive but is somewhere else, in all probability in Purgatory. We do need to pray for the deceased because our prayers will always be reciprocated by the deceased. And it is useful to remember that every liberated soul from Purgatory will always pray for those who helped in that liberation. This should be a consolation to us. You are right father. The dead really do need our prayers. Thanks
I thought this was brilliant. I was reading a comment on another Catholic video speaking of the Holy Souls and this person said they prayed the St. Gertrude prayer using a rosary. The St. Gertrude prayer releases a thousand Holy Souls each time it’s said devoutly. Well, there are 59 beads on the rosary and that’s 59 thousand Holy Souls! Yyyyyyeeeessssssss! ❤❤❤
If I visit a graveyard and haven't received holy communion that day, can I still gain an indulgence for the holy souls. I would have been to confession
