    Mr Chang, i have now watched a bunch of your videos, and i havent felt that you were rambling in any of them. It's the feeling i would get from listening to a wise grandfather and for that i'm grateful.

    Best quote ever. You have to be ruthless. Thanks Milton for the truth of making a bonsai.

    Yes. Value to me is the measure. There is no value to a buyer unless they too are pleased with the work. This is art. It is all intrinsic. I do not know anyone that is getting rich as a simple grower. Stay safe. Thank you for the insights and opinions!

    This would be a good subject for feather discussion. Being a ceramics artist as I went through college I studied with some of the greatest ceramics artist in the world. One of the main points in value is who made the piece youre looking. Another point would be the health, age and pot. There seems to be a lot of mass production pots out there and I know of some maker of pots but I’m not seeing a lot of world famous potters out there doing it. I’m putting my ceramic studio back together. I never made them but I have the ability to and it will be fun.

      I'm just kind of getting started doing bonsai and I'm making a point not to buy mass-produced pots. They have to come from an artist and the only ones I have that haven't are ones I've made.

    Its winter in Canada and I haven't been able to find any bonsai material as nurseries outdoor sections are closed. However, there was a Chinese New Year plant sale at one of the nurseries and they had a couple Shimpaku Junipers with nice S shaped trunks already planted in bonsai training pots. They were 100$! I left it but kept thinking about it all week until finally I came back and got it. No regrets I love the tree

      I live on the Oregon coast and I'm finding a bunch of neglected stuff to work on in the winter. I wonder if I could mail you one of these honeysuckles I found. They were behind a greenhouse at a garden center half of them tipped over completely root bound in gallon pots. They're around 3 years old, pretty stunted and were $4 a pop 👍

      Like another other tree in terms of caring. IThen each tree is different.,
      As a general rule, in order to have flowers at once, so have fruits all mature at about the same time, prune the entire tree when no leaf…Over time, ramification will appear uniform.
      I found pomegranate trees tend to fruit at the ends of long tips…so I let it grow out of shape, and then safe a few long arching branches to have fruits hanging…Not always successful if you disturb the roots too much repotting recently.

    Thank you so much Mr. Chang! You mention that with a good bonsai mix you can water every day. Would watering a tree growing in a nursery pot everyday work the same with enough drainage? Should we expect to see more growth from more water? Thank you!!

    • @bonsaiheirloom
      @bonsaiheirloom  5 месяцев назад +1

      Definitely. Of course everything has a limit given a given amount of roots can only absorb so much water. Excess watering is wasteful of valuable resources. I would suggest you stop watering when you see the soil stop to hold water…runs out of the pot.

    Dear Sir. Why would you Want for New growth? Would it Be Wise to Graft more Branches to be so you would not lose trunk mass?

    I am older than you. In these late years I focus on Eleagnus (Silverberry) and Chaste Tree (Vitex agnus caste), a few trees I have kept for 15-20 years. Any thoughts on working with these species? Are they worth the time and work?

    • @bonsaiheirloom
      @bonsaiheirloom  5 месяцев назад

      I wish! I doubt you are older than I ;-).
      Eleagnus is a wonderful bonsai material...the trunk can look quite masculine.
      I have a Vitex agnus caste tree in my garden and I love the blue flower, but have never tried to turn that into a bonsai….in part because the leaf is large and exist at the same time when there is flower. Not sure it will reduce in size. Please let me know if the leaf size will reduce in size when it is blooming worked out for you.

    When you repot a Bonsai why don't you tie it in the Bonsai Pot with Bonsai Wire?
    Thank you.

    Hello. I have a question regarding watering, I would be very happy to answer. Typically, coniferous bonsai trees such as pine trees are planted with a lump of garden soil in which they originally grew, and when watered, it turns out that the old lump of soil dries out much more slowly or quickly than the rest of the granular soil in the pot. How to water correctly in this case? Do I need to wait until the central lump dries on top? Or should I water it when the main soil is dry?

    • @bonsaiheirloom
      @bonsaiheirloom  5 месяцев назад

      For sure you can water before the root ball dries out. The main concern is not to have the tree sit in water to cause rot. Do you think in this case your root ball will sit in water?

    • @danhip2442
      @danhip2442 5 месяцев назад

      @@bonsaiheirloomI can only say that the soil near the trunk is still wet, while closer to the walls it is completely dry
