    I like the vitex tree. Fast growing and you receive a bonus of flowers. I like the small bonsai trees. Easy care and easy to lift.

      Glad to hear it. My vitex were collected from my old neighborhood dating to the 1940s. Somehow one tree produces 1-2 inch blue nubs rather than the spires seen on most vitex. Good luck.

    Sir
    My salute to ur passion
    I have a question
    U don't seem to put lime Sulphur solution on dead wood on trunks
    Love from 🇮🇳

      @bonsaiheirloom  7 месяцев назад

      Lime sulfur is useful for creating that white contrast to the bark, but I tend to prefer more natural methods.

    Hi Mr Chang, Thank you for answering my question on Bonsai Fruit Tree Care. It was a big surprise ! Today I planted a Japanese Peach tree , a fig tree , an apricot tree , a nectarine tree and a magnolia shirazz in the backyard ❤

    You have vigor and drive. I like to think your business venture is as much to promote bonsai and maintain interaction with other bonsai people as it is to be profitable. I guess your age is 72-75 years. If that is accurate, I am older than you! I had friends who joined my club after retirement specifically to add interest and focus to their senior years. It worked for them, especially during the COVID pandemic. Always enjoy your posts.

    Milton, do you ever find someone just wondering around looking at your trees.??? I could spend all day there.

      @maryweber4176 7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, I guess that I would also be worried, now that you mention it.. That reminds me of a few years ago, my yard was on a garden tour. After the tour was over, a photographer asked if he could come back and shoot some pictures. He came back several days in a row (supposedly for different lighting), but i finally had to have him leave the property for good. Never participated on a garden tour again.@@MiltonChang-ee6rq

    In life, there are always trade offs:
    Put in ground: Faster big trunks, longer internodes
    Put in pot: Smaller foliage, tighter internodes

    • @MiltonChang-ee6rq
      @MiltonChang-ee6rq 7 месяцев назад

      Yes...trade off. Generally grow young trees in a big pot...and mature bonsai in smaller pots.

    At first, I thought the notification said "Will I ever see my bonsai trees?". 😂 Getting started with this at 62, I've actually thought how many of my own that I've started will I see become bonsai. Longevity is not a strong trait in my family. I guess it influences the way I plan out how to design the trees, wondering how patient I can be to get a thick trunk. Still, I enjoy the process very much; and enjoy your videos also.

    I like using a heavy rock if the root system is not strong enough to keep the tree upright.

    Is it okay to use liquid fertilizer (fish emulsion w/ kelp) while I still have slow release fertilizer (BioGold pellets) breaking down in my pot?

    • @bonsaiheirloom
      @bonsaiheirloom  7 месяцев назад

      Of course you don’t want to over-fertilize. Maybe remove the pellets as much as you can before applying liquid fertilizer. Follow the instructions…better be safe than sorry!

    Hi sir, I am from India and we have long meedle pine here in india can you please share your view point on, can we make bonsai out of long needle pine or himalyan pine? I would love to see your reply

    • @MiltonChang-ee6rq
      @MiltonChang-ee6rq 7 месяцев назад +1

      I am not familiar with this pine. Here we have Moterey pine which also has very log needles. On technique Carl Morimoto a bonsai master use is to cut the cadles to induce branching, and then show the tree before the new needles get too long. The tree has short needles when he showed the tree.
      Lots offort for a short moment of peasure!

      @@MiltonChang-ee6rq I used to cut long needles to make it look good but then the needles end become brown

      A short-cut. Can always cut on the day of the show!
