Love these guys, the Teutonic history is amazing to study. Highly recommended. But, I must admit, I prefer the Hosps. Those two handed swords were really heavy, so if you you could lift it and attack your enemy it will probably cut almost any armor the enemy wears. And if you master at using two handed swords, you can defend yourself from enemies melee attacks better than just one handed swords (without shield). The cons are, as you expect, it's over weight and lack of flexibility. You can't cut a pillow that made of silk by using two handed, for example. I hope this will help you. And of course, if you see i made a mistake, feel free to correct me 😀
@@sefe9494 swords aren't that heavy, since most of them almost never go past five pounds, even with zweihanders. Also, there's no bloody way a bladed weapon would cut through even a mail shirt. It's big and relatively heavy, sure, but it's not going to cut through metal. Gambeson, it'd go through like butter if sharpened properly, but no edge can slice apart riveted rings. Although most of the blade's rather stiff, it could also bend and flex because of the springy nature of steel. In the end, (most) swords are treated as sidearms to be used in the absence of a polearm like aspear. However, there _are_ indeed... exceptions.
