  • This version of Andy Falco picking "Sittin' On Top of the World" was recorded at the Station Inn in Nashville in Feb 2007. This is a clip from the project "Live at the Station Inn" featuring Andy Falco, Josh Williams, and Chris Eldridge. The transcription of part of this solo can be found in the March/April 2008 edition of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine, a special issue dedicated to flatpicking the blues.

    This is just awesome over 60 yrs of playing and I think I just heard the greatest sounding guitar I have ever heard and this guy is a picker all right Great !!

    Andy is crazy talented and good guy! Check out his band, Infamous Stringdusters, and you can buy this DVD at the Station Inn! It was amazing to behold! I feel fortunate to have been there...

    Started in blues, too, and am trying to transition to bluegrass. They're not as related as one might think. Flatpicking is a different style and technique. But I love it.

    yes, as the wikipedia page says, it's " a folk-blues song written by Walter Vinson and Lonnie Chatmon," who were in the sheiks

      looks about early 60's D-28. Rounded peg head corners was a strange feature for a few years...

    In the Doc Watson 's songs book (OAK publication 1973) Doc saids " the first version I ever heard of *settin'of top of the world *was done by a negro blues and jug band named the * mississippi sheiks *

    So Andy you got that ole Martin fixed up. That Dumb ass in Oneonta Jim at the guitar center really f'd that guitar up. Action was 1/2 " .couldn't get a note out of it . He should be booted from Martins repair shop list.
    Great song and great playin there Andy .
